Capítulo 51: Chapter 51: Dad, I'll Be Your Dog from Now On

Sophia gazed at the man standing before her, who had far surpassed all expectations and left everyone in awe. Despite everything, she maintained her usual cool and collected demeanor. For most of the past 36 hours, her expression had remained unchanged, a calm mask that none of the students, aware of her title as the Frost God of War from overheard conversations, dared to approach.

But after three seconds of silence, she couldn't hold back any longer. Abandoning her stoic facade, she allowed herself a bright smile and said:

"Impressive, first place. But it seems like your lead over the second place isn't that big," Sophia teased, pointing at the tiny crystal in Liam's hand.

Liam shrugged. "It's enough. All that matters is the ranking."

Sophia openly studied Liam's face, noting how he had returned to his usual laid-back, carefree attitude, a stark contrast to the decisiveness and dominance he had displayed during the battle in the secret realm. She couldn't help but nod in approval.

"I didn't realize you were this strong," she admitted. "But I never doubted you'd be first!"

Clap...clap...clap.

Sophia leaned back in her chair, slowly clapping her hands. The sound of her deliberate applause echoed in the otherwise silent hall.

Her applause was like a spark that ignited the entire room. The students, who had been standing in stunned silence after watching Liam emerge with just a tiny piece of a Divine Core, suddenly erupted into cheers, clapping and shouting as if they had collectively achieved a great victory.

"He did it! First place!"

"E-level is the best!"

"Maybe E-level is actually the highest talent grade, who knew?"

"You're amazing, man! You said you wouldn't take our Divine Cores, and you didn't—just left them all in the secret realm!"

"Thanks for bumping us all up to second place!"

The students who had fought against Liam and been defeated were initially baffled by the sudden outpouring of admiration. Wasn't this the guy everyone wanted to take down when the test started?

But after a quick explanation from those around them, they finally understood.

Liam had used extreme measures, blocking the exit and beating down everyone who had tried to steal from each other. He had ensured that everyone else scored zero, placing himself in first while everyone else tied for second.

None of the students had expected to achieve such a high rank. In a way, Liam had helped each of them reach a level they never thought possible.

By doing so, he had effectively challenged the very rules of the test with his overwhelming strength.

The students recognized that Liam's actions weren't just about getting back at those who had stolen from him. He was also rebelling against the unfair rules of the test. If Yun Fei and the others were the blades aimed at him, then the test's rules were the invisible hand guiding those blades.

Now, every student was celebrating. There wasn't a single voice of dissent. Even Yun Fei, still nursing his injuries, was clapping along with everyone else.

"Alright, alright, let's quiet down a bit," Cain said with his usual friendly smile, speaking up after the test had concluded. It took several repetitions before the crowd finally settled down.

"Well, I know that when you were in the secret realm, dealing with suspicion, exhaustion, and the constant threat of being robbed, many of you probably cursed this test's difficulty," Cain said, addressing the students with a chuckle. "I'm the one who proposed these rules. If you feel like complaining, feel free to direct it at me."

Cain spoke openly and honestly, inviting the students to voice their frustrations.

"This extremely unstructured, survival-of-the-fittest test was meant to challenge you all in a different way," Cain continued. "Of course, due to a certain X factor, things took a slightly unexpected turn this year."

"We usually have plenty of rewards for those who score high in the rankings, but since so many of you tied for second place, the resources are a bit stretched. So..." Cain paused, letting the anticipation build as he looked at each student.

"So I've decided to cover the difference out of my own pocket and make sure everyone gets the rewards they deserve!"

"This year, all of you have achieved second place in the overall rankings for the gifted student entrance exam."

"Of course, there's also the one who defied the rules and took first place!"

The students stood in stunned silence for a moment before erupting into even louder cheers. Everyone was elated, the atmosphere one of pure joy.

Cain watched them with a mixture of pride and regret in his eyes. These young, bright-eyed students were full of life, but soon they would have to face the harsh truths hidden from the public. For now, though, he wanted them to enjoy this moment of victory.

As the celebration continued, the door to the hall creaked open, and someone walked in, looking utterly dejected.

It was Liu Peng. Ever since Liam had knocked him out at the start of the test, he had spent the last day and a half in turmoil. The thought of finishing in last place, facing the ridicule that would surely follow, had kept him awake at night.

If only I hadn't sucked up to Li Qi. Why did I mess with that maniac?

As he entered and saw everyone cheering, he felt even more miserable, assuming they were all pleased with their results.

Then, someone he knew ran up to him, exclaiming, "Liu Peng, you got second place!"

"Thanks to Liam, man. Don't you think you owe him an apology? You were gunning for him back then."

Liu Peng: ???

What?

What are you talking about? How did I get second place?

I don't understand.

His acquaintance quickly explained everything that had happened while Liu Peng's expression grew increasingly blank, as if he was mentally checking out.

Why had he tried to cozy up to Li Qi? Why had he targeted Liam? Wasn't it all to get a good ranking, to secure better resources and opportunities once he enrolled?

But now... was this a dream? Had his sincerity somehow moved the heavens?

Suddenly, he was the luckiest person in the room—he hadn't even participated in the grueling 36-hour test, yet he was reaping the same rewards as those who had.

Dazed, Liu Peng looked up at Liam, their gazes locking across the room.

Liam, seeing nothing but a young man who had been caught up in the pursuit of ambition, shrugged, not planning to say anything to him.

But to Liam's astonishment, Liu Peng suddenly sprinted over, grasped his hands tightly, and declared:

"Dad! I'll be your dog from now on!"
