I finally received the name of the person who will be partnering with me for the funding project but with that name, I also got a face—a face I'd soon be seeing in person. It turns out I'll be meeting this person, Kai Rylan, alongside Liam.

I've never met Kai before. In fact, he's a complete stranger to me. But if Miles, who's usually cautious, believes Kai is trustworthy, then I'm willing to keep an open mind. 

Even so, curiosity got the better of me, and I started digging around online to learn more about Kai Rylan, hoping to gather anything that might give me insight into his character or history.

In the middle of my search, the landline phone on my desk rang, pulling me out of my thoughts. I picked up the receiver. "Yes, Maya?"

"Mr. and Mrs. Brandwith are here to see you," Maya informed me. "Should I let them in?"

I paused, a small smile playing on my lips. This would be interesting. "Yes, please, send them in."
