Despite Miles' assurance that he wasn't angry with me anymore, his behavior said otherwise. There was a distance between us, a coldness that lingered in his actions even if his words tried to cover it up. It was clear that something had shifted, and though he was still there for me whenever I needed him, always answering my calls and offering his help, the familiar warmth had faded. Gone were the days of spontaneous lunches or casual dinner invites; for the past week, he'd only send texts—reminders to eat lunch or apologies for missing dinner, telling me not to wait up.

I'd barely seen him in the past few days, and when I did, he had little to say. It felt like he was living in his office or wherever he chose to spend his nights, making his absence more present than his company.
