"He's not honoring the invitation," Maya said with a hint of disappointment.

I looked up from my laptop, my brow furrowing in confusion. "What did you just say?" I asked, trying to process her words.

Maya dropped her tablet onto the desk with a thud and pulled out a chair, settling into it with a sigh that spoke volumes. "Liam Diablo isn't coming to the event," she clarified, her tone tight with the weight of that news.

I had my suspicions about this, but a part of me was still holding out hope that things would magically fall into place without requiring me to exert too much effort. Jokes on me for trusting fate again. "Please prepare the VVIP card, and make arrangements to have the limited wine imported directly from the winery. I will take it upon myself to invite him personally," I instructed, my tone leaving little room for debate.
