I hate the fact that Axelle feels even a shred of sympathy for that man after everything he put her through. He actually hit her, for crying out loud, so why should she care if he's lying on the streets of New York, dying? It makes no sense to me.

As I stewed in my thoughts, I heard a knock on my door before it creaked open, and Jay casually walked in. He gave me a once-over, taking in my attire as if he was assessing my state. "Shouldn't you be getting ready for bed?" he asked, his tone annoyingly nonchalant.

I shot him a glare. "What do you want?" I still didn't understand why he'd decided to crash at my place tonight.

Jay merely shrugged and threw himself down on the bed. "I'm bored. You want to play chess?" he suggested.

This dude is will always remain weird to me. Why keep suggesting a game he knows he's very terrible at?
