"I'm sorry, but I don't know you."
Although she could tell that he wasn't a bad guy, Amaranta didn't feel like they were on familiar enough terms to engage in friendly conversation.
Looking embarrassed, David Scott rubbed his head.
"We've met before. In the hospital emergency room that night. Let me introduce myself. My name is David Scott. Thank you for saving our boss."
At David Scott's introduction, a look of concern passed over Amaranta Cid's face, and she asked, "That man. Is he okay?"
"Our boss is fine, all due to his brave act of donating blood. But due to the severity of his injuries, he has to recover for a long time!"
"That's good …"
Amaranta had barely stopped talking when she heard the sound of the bus approaching.
Full of energy, David shouted, "Please make way for the young lady and the eldest lady to board first!"
And that's how Amaranta and her grandmother were sent to the bus by the group of young people.
Since Amaranta and her grandmother only had separate tickets, after boarding the bus, Amaranta took her grandmother to her section.
"Grandma, I'm sorry, but due to the short notice, I was only able to buy separate seating tickets. Just be patient and rest here. When we get to the next stop, and someone gets off, I'll try to sit next to you."
When she packed for her trip, Amaranta, taking into account her grandmother's condition, had intentionally chosen a soft bag that she could sit on and a thin blanket.
"Young lady, I've been looking for you everywhere! Come, we can't let you sit here. Come with me!"
Looking a little shy, Amaranta refused. "No." No, thank you. "We're sitting pretty here."
When she purchased her tickets, she was informed that there were no more assigned seats. Amaranta knew that if she followed David Scott's instructions, then he would be the one who would be left without a seat.
"By no means!"
David Scott noted that Amaranta had refused to budge.
"Someone, please help the old lady to our seat."
At her command, the grandmother was escorted by the friendly young people to an area where she could sit comfortably next to Amaranta. The entire car was filled with young men wearing the same uniform of polo shirts and pants.
They were all sitting upright and proper in orderly rows and seemed full of life.
When David told them that Amaranta had saved the team leader from her, they treated her with even more respect.
"Young lady, I have asked the bus driver to drop you and your grandmother at this place."
"Thank you so much".
David Scott turned to Amaranta's grandmother and said, "Madam, you have done an excellent job raising this young woman. Thank you, if we had not found her in the hospital, our boss would not be with us now."
Having stowed his luggage safely, David handed a piece of paper to Amaranta, saying, "Young lady, not being familiar with the Capital City, you may need help at some point. In that case, please call this number, don't hesitate to do it."
Amaranta carefully put the piece of paper away. It was better to be safe than sorry, although he hoped they would find no reason to call them in the city!
"Thank you, Mr. David."
Smiling, David responded, "It has been a pleasure to be of service to you. Madam, please rest!"
It was only after David Scott left that Amaranta's grandmother looked at her and said, "Amaranta, what did I say? Doing good has its rewards!"
"Grandma, in, someone who seems like a bad person might not necessarily be a bad person, and someone who seems like a decent person might not necessarily be a good person."
The reason Amaranta made that statement was to remember the way she died and at whose hands.
All thanks to David Scott, his 8 long hour journey was not too unbearable.
Furthermore, his grandmother fared much better than Amaranta had anticipated.
After eight in the morning on March 16, the bus finally stopped at the capital's station.
Amaranta carried her luggage with one hand and held on to her grandmother's hand with the other. Since there was an especially large crowd of people running out of the station, Amaranta Cid decided that he would rather slow down than risk his grandmother getting hurt from all the pushing.
When they finally passed through the exit, they noticed that there were people everywhere.
"Grandma, let's first check into a hotel in the vicinity of the Film Academy."
Amaranta looked for the officers on duty near the bus station and asked for directions to the subway station. Where she took a line that would take her to the center of the city. — "Grandma, take this seat."
Since there was only one vacant seat on the subway, Amaranta asked her grandmother to take it while
s was standing to the side, studying the route of the subway line they were on. After traveling for about an hour, they finally arrived at the capital's Film Academy stop!
Amaranta and her grandmother got off the Metro.
"Grandma, let's get something to eat first and then find a place to stay, okay?" "Does it sound?" "Does it sound?" "Sounds good."
In the place where they were passing, they found a small restaurant serving homemade food, which they entered. "Madam, I would like to know if there are accommodation places, such as hotels, in the neighborhood."
The owner was sitting at a side table, and she was peeling garlic while she watched television.
"Young lady, you have come at a bad time. Since the people from the Film Academy are starting their interviews, all the hotels and inns in the surrounding area have been booked for a long time!"
"I imagined that," Amaranta thought to herself. So what should I do now? I can't sleep on the streets! On her account, she could have solved it anyway, but her grandmother was not in a position to do it in a bad way and sleeping on the streets, impossible!
"So there are public bathrooms in the neighborhood?"
"Yes, on the street, behind us."
"Thank you, ma'am."
Two plates of Madrid-style tripe were delivered to her table. Although the portions were not large, they looked very appetizing.
Amaranta first reached for her grandmother's bowl, pulling it toward her and mixing the sauce with gusto before handing the bowl back to her grandmother.
"Grandma, try it. Is the food taste tastier in the capital? Or is the tripe tastier in our hometown?"
Her grandmother took a bite and found the tripe a little salty. It wasn't a taste she was used to.
"Ma'am, do you have hot sauce?"
"It's right there on the table."
After adding some hot sauce to the tripe in her bowl, Grandma began to eat more heartily. As she watched her grandmother from across the table, Amaranta felt a surge of guilt in her heart.
For a long period in her past life, she was extremely immature and selfish.
And when she finally matured and straightened up, her grandmother had already passed away!
Now, with her grandmother still alive, she decided to treat her better… Much better.
"Grandma, is it tasty?"
Nodding repeatedly, her grandmother replied, "Yes, it is."
However, being usually thrifty, her grandmother would never waste food. So, even if the food was not appetizing by her standards, she would still persevere and finish it slowly, without wasting a single bite.
Only people who have suffered and worked understand the value of food.
"Grandma, in the future, when I have money, I will buy you a lot of delicious food; food I have never tried before."
"Grandma, about that house in our hometown. Let's not sell it yet. Keep it. Maybe one day my mother will come back!"
When Amaranta Cid mentioned her mother, her grandmother's eyes immediately darkened.
"Amaranta, I also believe that your mother will return one day. When that happens, the three of us will be reunited happily."
So many years had passed, and her daughter still had not returned home. Grandma guessed that her daughter probably met with some mishap or died.
"Grandma, my mother will be fine. I want to believe there will be a miracle."
"Ma'am, how much do we owe you?"
"Twenty euros."
Amaranta handed twenty euros to the owner. Accepting the money, the owner asked, "Young lady, are you here for the interviews at the Film Academy?"
"Madam, how did she guess?"
To that question, the owner responded: "Young lady, I have run this food house near the Film Academy for many years and I have many movie stars as regular customers. Look up at that wall. Do you know Ana Sánchez? When She came for her interview at the Academy, she also ate Madrid-style tripe in our store. Then she was accepted. Now, since you have eaten our tripe, you will too…"
"Then we hope that her prediction comes true," the grandmother commented after hearing what the owner said.
I would appreciate receiving your comments, they would be helpful to me, as an author.!
