Capítulo 45: BLOOD LASSO

Faux woke up to the wind fluttering in his ears. When his eyes snapped open a cold chill immediately ran through his body.

He spun wildly in the air, his arms and legs flailing about as he tried to navigate through the sea of debris that surrounded him.

Without warning he felt his back collide with something hard. It would have crushed his spine if he didn't possess the build of a Paladin.

With a groan he rose to his feet, scanning his newfound surroundings. He was now standing on a much smaller platform made of nothing but earth.

"What the hell happened."

One second he and the woman were locked in combat and the next second he was hovering in the air. Just then he felt a searing pain spread throughout his chest forcing blood out of his lips.

As his blood fell from his lips he recalled the last moments before he had regained consciousness.

'She cast a spell?'

He didn't remember much of what the spell did. All he could remember was the defeating sound that followed.

With his hands grasping his chest Faux peered at the sky in search of the woman and the Calamity.

The hidden base was somewhere to his right but he had a feeling the lady was no longer there.

Suddenly he heard the air tremble again and following it was a shock wave that split the platform he was on in two.

With an insane leap, Faux hopped onto the next platform. His feet slid on the grass as he claimed balance.

Upon landing he tried to summon his blades but made a shocking discovery, for whatever reason he had lost his ability to channel Will.

In fact, he could feel something foreign coursing through his meridians– the veins that allow for Will to flow. His Will was still steadily replenishing but his meridians were all jumbled up, directly influencing his ability to channel Will.

Just then a woman with blonde hair and enthralling blue eyes landed on the grass a couple of meters away from him. She had a smug smirk plastered on her face.

Faux pierced her with a dangerous gaze of his own.

Before she had landed he had quickly taken a look at his soul cores and the tendrils that connected them to his muscle groups and organs.

There was truly a foreign Will now coursing through his meridians but the strangest thing was that it wasn't Calamitous.

Just who on earth was this woman? He had concluded that she was a member of the Taraki branch, but seeing that she willed celestial will instead of its counterpart– Calamitous Will, Faux didn't even know what to think again.

Had a human truly mastered the Tachi so perfectly that they were able to use Celestial Will to perform its complex forms?

It had to be a human because the Oni couldn't control Celestial Will, and neither could humans control Calamitous Will. Excluding Illborns.

She couldn't possibly be one of those, it obviously wasn't possible...

"I'll ask you this one last time. Who the hell are you? And what do you want with the Calamity?"

The woman simply retained her smug expression before pulling out a small knife from the clothes she had wrapped around her waist. Then very quickly she drew a line across her forearm and left it to bleed. Soon she was spilling blood profusely.

"You all are bound to find out soon enough. But for now, I prefer if you all remained clueless."

She seemed unfazed, her eyes never leaving Faux as she spoke.

Faux's eyes narrowed at the blood that poured from her forearm.

Another Spell?

If that was the case he couldn't let her finish it.

He was already on the move when something caught his attention. Not too far away from the platform they were currently on, weightlessly soaring through the sky was an unconscious boy with wheat blonde air, barely clothed.

Faux narrowed his brows at the sight.

His meridians still had foreign Will running through it which was like poison, but he'd be damned if he'd let such a thing stunt him.

The next second blood had begun to spew out of Faux's pores as he strained his muscles. The blood around the woman had begun to hover in the air as well.

Before it could manifest into anything fusible though, Faux flashed forward calling upon his inhuman strength. His Will forced its way through his meridians causing blood to leak with every step he took. Moments later he had shot past the woman and in one mighty leap was only a couple meters away from the Calamity.

Before he could reach him though he felt something wrap around his torso.

What the?'

A lasso made of blood had wrapped itself around Faux, binding his arms to his torso.

Before he could realize it he felt his center of mass shift as the lasso flashed through the air with him at its end.

Moments later he was crashing through stone and earth. Over and over again he was sent on a collision course with all sorts of debris. Even his physique couldn't endure it for much longer, giving way to deep cuts and bruises.

With little option, he pulled on his Will to Summon his short sword. The blade manifested in his hands but before he could do anything with it, the blood lasso shook it off before sending him through another piece of floating debris.

Urghh!

Faux groaned as he sat up. He had somehow dug a small crater with his collision, his arms still bound to his torso with the insanely sturdy lasso.

He had lost his grip on his short blade leaving it to float somewhere in the sea of rubble.

The blonde lady landed a couple of meters away with a soft thud. She looked as gorgeous as ever with the sight of her eerie blood lasso adding a subtle but alluring danger to her charm.

Now seeing the fully formed weapon she held, Faux couldn't help but pale.

He couldn't make sense of what he was seeing. There was no spell that allowed a human to be able to recreate much less weaponize things such as blood, bone and so on. Calamitous Will was what was more in tune with living things like blood and organs.

Celestial Will meanwhile was limited to the six Celestial natures and their various combinations and variants– with some other exceptions.

But based on what he just witnessed this woman could at least control one of the Celestial natures, whilst also possessing a Blood weapon– something only unique to the Oni, like that coward Vlad and his spear.

With that said, If this woman could simultaneously wield a blood weapon whilst also possessing Celestial Will.

It would mean that this woman was somehow capable of controlling both Celestial and Calamitous Will

'That was impossible… right?'

From the moment, humans and the government discovered the difference between Celestial and Calamitous Will they studied it, in whatever way they could.

In the end, they discovered that It was impossible for a human to harbour Calamitous Will, and vice versa for the Oni.

The only things capable of that were… illborns.
