As she wandered the Nexus halls, Avery kept the portrait of Marcus Chen in mind. His surprise message threw everyone into a frenzy of speculation and planning. Despite the pandemonium, Avery couldn't shake the feeling that something else was on its way - something bigger than her father's surprise homecoming.

She became decent.

A piercing alarm rang across the air, different from anything they had heard before. Avery dashed to the manipulation room, Lucas hard on her heels. They raced through the portals to see Celeste frantically racing at a console, her silver hair flying about her face.

"what's taking place?" Avery demanded.

Celeste looked up, her eyes wide with horror. "There is a temporal rift. it's - "

Before she could finish, a bright flash of light illuminated the room. Avery had a terrible tugging sensation, as if her own atoms were being ripped apart. She grabbed for Lucas, their palms just touching before the world collapsed around her.
