Capítulo 17: The Unknown
There aren't any defenders here, so how do we hope to play? Aesop asked, ready to tackle the more serious issues at hand.
Cai quickly got a pen and a paper.
Sir, let's draw a formation quickly before they arrive.
After a while of arguing and talking, they all agreed on a particular formation and system of play.
Zuri was the keeper as usual and the rest of the players were scattered in a cross shape.
Whoever Neo invited would be in the middle, linking everyone in the cross to each other.
Until the identity of the person Neo invited is revealed, let's just refer to him as the unknown. It was Cai who spoke.
Everyone was silent for a moment, then they all nodded their acceptance.
Shortly after they all agreed on this, they all took their positions, Eric was playing the position of the unknown for now, he left his own position which was more or less, the position of a defender.
Their positions didn't really matter, they were all attacking. The formation was attack focused, defense was of less priority.
Eric received a text, saying that the marbles players were close by.
Let's do this quickly. Eric said and immediately started the kickoff.
They set a timer to thirty minutes, but the timer had not yet started counting as they had not yet started the training six Vs six.
They were using half of the field, they marked the middle of one half and that was where they started the kickoff from. A plastic goalpost was placed in the middle of the pitch and that was to serve as the end of the field that they were going to play in.
Eric passed the ball to Cai who in turn passed it back without even controlling the ball.
Eric flicked the ball towards Zuri and they all dashed forward.
Zuri launched the ball inside where his teammates were already positioned.
Aesop took to the skies and brought the ball down for Cai who was the man closest to him.
Cai passed the ball to Eric and Eric ran towards Aesop.
Eric passed the ball to Neo. Neo passed his right le over the ball before using his left leg to control it to a halt.
Neo released a powerful floater shot and the field reverberated with the sound of a ball being struck against an iron post.
Neo sighed as the ball fell back towards them.
Neo tried a few more of his floater shots and he missed them all.
Everyone thought he was off his game today but Neo knew it was the opposite. He could easily find the back of the net if he allowed the ball to move on it's own accord. But he could find the back of the net for sure if he could control the ball and make it move according to his wishes.
Neo knew he was starting to get the hang of controlling his floater shots.
Even though controlling the ball past the keeper would be a bit difficult for him to learn, he was confident he was going to learn it.
Eric controlled the ball and they started another attack against their imaginary team.
They were syncing perfectly and the strategy seemed to be a success for now, but let's see how they fared against a real team.
Shortly after, the gates of the field opened and the students walked in, all dressed in marble's soccer jersey.
Zuri's mouth was thrown open in surprise.
Woah! So these are the people he invited?
Alf stretched as he jumped slightly, while walking towards them, warming up for the show that was about to begin.
Hey, slow down! Walter spoke as he grabbed Alf's shoulder.
The next to enter was one half of the twin tower, the defensive prodigy, Berry.
The fourth person to enter was one who Neo was very much familiar with.
He was the No 10 of the marbles fc, he was…
….Soma.
Soma adjusted his bag to stay quietly on his shoulder as he walked in, the captain's armband tied around his arm.
Zoe followed closely behind Soma, he was the second half of the twin tower, the unbreakable wall of the marbles.
Zoe and berry were the defense prodigies that made up the twin tower.
Once together, they were incredible and could stop almost any attack that came their way.
The next was the last man from the marbles team of six, and he was their No 1.
He was the one who had kept so many clean sheets that he was named, The Hand of God.
Harry was their goalkeeper and he was extremely fast with his reactions, the only fault harry had was that he was extremely lazy and as a result, always lacked the zeal to save the balls.
Aesop turned to Neo. Where's your man?
Neo smiled. He would be here in a sec, he doesn't stay far.
Who is it? Eric asked.
Neo smiled. Curiosity kills the first years.
Zuri stamped his leg on the floor with childish exasperation.
C'mon, tell us already!
Neo pointed to the entrance with a smile coloring his lips.
Everyone turned around to receive a very big shock as they all saw the unknown.
So that's him, huh?
