The weekend was here, and the time had arrived for me to leave the mansion behind a place that had become a battleground of strained relationships and unspoken resentments. As I prepared to move out, the air was thick with tension. I knew this final conversation with my stepmother, Laurine, and stepsister, Salome, wouldn't be easy. Their disdain was palpable, and I braced myself for one last clash before closing this chapter of my life.

I approached the grand foyer where Laurine and Salome were waiting, both of them seated regally on the intricately carved antique chairs. Laurine, with her perfectly styled hair and impeccably tailored suit, exuded an aura of cold authority as her eyes, sharp and calculating, followed me with a gaze that seemed to pierce right through me. Salome was lounging next to her, wearing an expression of detached amusement, her eyes barely lifting from her phone.
