55.45% Reigning Supreme in Every Reality / Chapter 61: 61: Hospital

Capítulo 61: 61: Hospital

Raccoon City was a city entirely developed by the Umbrella Corporation.

When it was still a small Midwestern town, Umbrella came here.

Thus, hospitals, subways, universities... many modern buildings gradually appeared.

Every building, every wall in this city is related to the Umbrella Corporation.

Walking on the streets of this city, any unintentional passerby you meet could be an Umbrella employee.

When Lyon arrived at Raccoon City Hospital, he happened to hear the confession of an Umbrella researcher.

"I am Nathaniel Bard. The current time is September 28th, 9:35 PM.

I am the director of the Virus Research Center.

I hope someone can come to rescue me.

But I'm afraid there's little hope.

They won't want me to survive...."

"The Umbrella Corporation, those people will definitely kill me.

This biohazard crisis in Raccoon City—it's all because of them.

I hope my next words can be broadcasted through this recording, to save more people… at the very least, to not tarnish my name completely.

The Umbrella Corporation, my employer, ordered me and my team... to participate in the development of a bio-weapon called the T-virus."

"I... Oh my God, what was that noise?"

"I'll record again later, I need to check what's causing that noise outside!"

Nathaniel Bard, the director of the Virus Research Center, was recording a video.

This video was his last will and testament.

Lyon, listening to the various sounds around him, hovered outside the hospital.

With his supervision, he scanned the entire building.

The hospital was now overrun by infected bio-weapons.

The only living person left was the virus research director who had just confessed.

But this guy didn't have much longer to live either.

Lyon thought back to the situation.

In just a few hours, this director, Nathaniel Bard, would be killed by agents sent by Umbrella, and they would steal the pure T-virus sample.

But for now, Bard was lucky—Lyon had arrived.

Lyon descended to the ground, and Jarvis-controlled Super Mark 1 finally arrived, silently following behind him as it landed.

Lyon pushed open the hospital doors.

Grrr!

Several zombies with blood-soaked, mutilated bodies turned toward him.

They were either wearing medical uniforms, as doctors or nurses, or security personnel.

"Take care of them, Jarvis."

Lyon began walking toward the location of the research director.

The infected outside were Jarvis's problem now.

Research Director Bard was a middle-aged man in a white lab coat, with a half-bald head and a serious expression.

Thud! Rooar! Bang Bang Roar!

He was holed up in his research room, separated from the hospital lobby by a heavy iron door.

At this moment, a lizard-like creature was repeatedly hammering on the door, its massive mouth wide open, letting out thunderous roars.

It was clear that the creature had been drawn to Director Bard's voice.

On the other side of the door, Bard, realizing his mistake, was drenched in sweat, covering his mouth and shaking like a leaf.

He was likely hoping to stay quiet long enough for the lizard-like creature to lose interest and move away.

Lyon recognized the creature as well.

It was a Hunter β, one of Umbrella's bio-weapons, air-dropped into Raccoon City for testing.

In the game, it was considered a mini-boss.

Lyon decided to give it a little attention.

"Peak a boo, buddy~" Boom!

With a single punch from behind, an immense force erupted.

The Hunter β, along with the iron door, was blasted across the room and embedded into the far wall, as flat as a pancake.

"Ahhh!!" Director Bard screamed in terror at the explosive sound, collapsing to the floor.

His face was twisted in sheer panic.

The sight of the iron door smashed into the wall reminded Director Bard of Umbrella's bio-weapons, specifically the Tyrants.

Now he was certain of it—Umbrella had sent a Tyrant to kill him. He felt doomed, with no chance of escape.

His lips trembling, Bard, having accepted his fate, shakily crawled into a chair.

With trembling hands, he moved the mouse and opened the video recording software again, planning to use his last moments to finish his confession.

But before he could utter a single word, Lyon walked in.

"Hey, Director Bard?" Lyon asked.

"Who are you?" Bard was completely confused—why wasn't it a Tyrant?

"I'm here for the T-virus pure sample and the vaccine. If you can give me the related research data, even better."

Lyon noticed Bard's sudden look of suspicion and quickly shifted his tone.

"Don't worry, I'm not with Umbrella. I'm only looking for the virus and vaccine to save this city."

"Save the city?"

Bard, now facing a human rather than a monster, seemed to regain some of his courage.

After all, Bard figured that at worst, he would die.

And dying at the hands of a human was far less terrifying than being killed by a Tyrant.

He squinted slightly, "How do you know there's a virus and vaccine here? No one outside of Umbrella could possibly know that!!"

Lyon thought for a moment and decided to be direct: "I'm not from this world. Your world's consciousness asked me for help, and that's how I know everything—through it."

He placed the responsibility on the world's consciousness.

Lyon spoke so openly to improve communication and establish trust more efficiently.

After all, in this world, as long as he didn't make any reckless mistakes, there was no real danger for him.

Instead of going through the trouble of fabricating a flawless identity, it was easier to just reveal the most unbelievable truth.

In a way, as long as he demonstrated his power, the most unbelievable truths could quickly become the easiest to accept as reality.

After Lyon finished speaking, he didn't bother paying attention to Director Bard's reaction.

He took a deep breath, then forcefully blew it out.

Immediately, a gust of wind shot forward like an arrow, blasting a perfectly round hole in the wall across from him.

As dust filled the air, Bard's eyes almost popped out of his head.

When he looked back at Lyon, the once rational, science-driven gaze was now mixed with a hint of fanaticism.

"Incredible! A breath strong enough to destroy a wall—such power is impossible for a human…"

"Could it be that you're really from another world?"

"Please, tell me! What is this other world like? And the world consciousness—does our world actually have its own consciousness?"

Lyon: "Um, Yeah."

"I knew it, I knew it! Hahaha!"

Bard began muttering to himself, then boldly asked questions before bursting into laughter.

Lyon was a bit taken aback.

He had expected Bard to remain skeptical or at least half-believing.

But Lyon hadn't expected Bard to burst into hysterical laughter, as though he'd suddenly lost it.

Still, it was understandable.

Some passionate researchers, when faced with the ultimate questions in their field, often became a bit unhinged or overly excited.

And Bard was now encountering concepts like other worlds and world consciousness—domains that humans could barely grasp.

The fact that he hadn't gone completely insane on the spot showed a lot of restraint.

"Ok! Now now."

Lyon clapped a hand on Bard's shoulder.

"We can discuss all that later. For now, can you show me your research data and any samples you've got?"

Bard blinked, then rubbed his half-bald forehead. "Right, right, follow me. I've printed all the research into paper copies—the digital versions have already been destroyed."

"I was planning to burn the papers before I died, but thankfully you arrived just in time!"
