Capítulo 69: Chapter 69: Did You Hit Her Dad?

Three days ago at noon, Richard, carrying a travel bag, arrived in Nashville, the capital of Tennessee. He took an hour-long taxi ride from Nashville International Airport to Vanderbilt University.

"Why is Vanderbilt University so remote?" Richard asked as he got out of the taxi, looking around.

"Buddy, this is the university's medical research center, not the main campus. Of course, it's remote. By the way, you should give me an extra ten dollars as a tip," the taxi driver said, extending his hand.

"Why? I already gave you five dollars."

"Hey, buddy, I told you so much about Tennessee's attractions, historical sites, and even the best places to pick up girls. I even told you about the hottest girls at Vanderbilt University. Don't you think I deserve a bigger tip?" the driver chuckled.

"Get lost. No extra tip, but do you want a fist the size of a sandbag?"

"Fuck, you're tough!" The driver sped off, then stopped the car ten meters away, yelling, "Hey, kid, if you mess with me, I'll make sure you can't pick up any girls at Vanderbilt!"

"Fuck you!" Richard flipped him off and walked into Vanderbilt University Medical Research Center. Reese's mother, Dr. Dana Briggs, was a professor there.

A few days ago, Reese had an argument with Ryan and, feeling upset, came to her mother's place to relax, even turning off her phone, making it impossible to contact her.

This was a hassle for Richard, who had to travel all the way from New York to talk to her in person.

Walking into the research center, Richard found many tall redwoods and lush greenery, with rabbits hopping around, making the environment pleasant but eerily quiet with no one in sight for about 500-600 meters.

"Wow, that's amazing!"

"Come on, hit him!"

Suddenly, cheers erupted from outside the woods. Richard followed a path to an indoor gymnasium.

Inside, hundreds of people were gathered, loudly cheering and yelling for someone to get hit. It was quite lively.

Richard squeezed to the front to see that a group of people was watching a boxing match.

The current reigning champion was a middle-aged man in his forties, with short hair, wearing a tank top, military pants, and boots. His muscles were taut, making him look like a block of steel. Everyone called him "Lieutenant Colonel."

The Lieutenant Colonel wore black boxing gloves, his movements were skilled, and his punches were sharp. His overall strength wasn't much different from that of a professional middleweight boxer.

His opponent was a young man in his twenties, with well-developed muscles that seemed to be from a gym, lacking explosive power.

Pow! Pow! Pow!

The Lieutenant Colonel launched a series of fast attacks, forcing the young man to dodge continuously without any chance to fight back.

Bang! Perhaps tired of toying with him, the Lieutenant Colonel landed a solid punch to the young man's cheek, sending him into the crowd, where someone helped him up.

"Haha, anyone else wants to try?" the Lieutenant Colonel laughed.

"Lieutenant Colonel, I'll give it a shot!"

Another fearless person stepped up.

"Haha, great, you look good. Maybe you'll last a round!"

With a new opponent, the Lieutenant Colonel started another round of beating.

Richard found it boring and looked for someone wearing glasses. "Excuse me, do you know Professor Dana Briggs?"

"Professor Briggs?" The guy with glasses looked Richard up and down. "Why are you looking for the professor?"

"Oh, I'm a medical student from NYU. I have a topic I want to discuss with her."

Richard was wearing a hoodie and jeans, looking like a college student.

"You came all the way from New York just for academic exchange?"

"Yes!"

"We have many beautiful women in the medical research center. Didn't you think about picking up a girl?"

The curly-haired fat guy interrupted.

"No, I'm only interested in learning. Women would distract me from my studies."

Richard said with a serious face.

"Haha, you're just like me!"

The fat guy patted Richard on the shoulder.

"So, does anyone know where Professor Briggs is?"

"Lieutenant Colonel, someone is looking for Professor Dana Briggs. Do you know where she is?" the fat guy shouted.

In the ring, the Lieutenant Colonel knocked out his opponent with another punch and turned to look at Richard. "Are you looking for Dana?"

"Yes, sir, my name is Richard Brad, from New York. I have something to discuss with the professor. Do you know where she is?"

"She should be at home at this time," the Lieutenant Colonel looked Richard up and down, chuckling, "Do you want to know where she lives?"

"Yes, please. Where does the professor live?"

Richard smiled.

"Want to know? Then come up and fight me. By the way, do you know how to box?" the Lieutenant Colonel asked.

"A little!"

"Haha, great, come up and fight. If you win, I'll tell you."

The Lieutenant Colonel waved his fists with a grin.

"I'd rather not."

Richard hesitated.

"Get up there!"

"Don't be scared, fight him!"

"Wow, you look tough. You must be good. Get up there."

People behind him pushed and shoved, and in a few moments, Richard was in the ring.

"Hey, are you ready?" the Lieutenant Colonel shouted.

"Ready, but I should warn you, my punches are pretty heavy. You should be careful, Lieutenant Colonel," Richard said, putting on boxing gloves.

"Hahaha!"

Before he finished, everyone burst into laughter.

"Hey, New York kid, you probably don't know who the Lieutenant Colonel is. He used to be an instructor in the Marine Corps and has killed many terrorists. You should be the one being careful!"

The fat guy shouted.

"That's right, New York kid, if you can last a round with the Lieutenant Colonel, I'll introduce you to the hottest girl in the research center."

Someone joked.

"I'm willing!" A girl shouted, "He looks handsome and has a great body."

"Hey, Sigourney, I'm not talking about you."

"Asshole, am I not the hottest girl in the research center?"

"Hey, guys, stop it. The Lieutenant Colonel and the New York kid are about to start."

Someone reminded, and everyone turned their attention back to the ring.

"New York kid, are you ready?"

The Lieutenant Colonel swung his fists, his movements sharp and intimidating.

"Ready!"

Richard raised his fists to his sides.

"Hey, you seem pretty skilled. This should be an exciting match. So, let's start!"

The Lieutenant Colonel shouted, charging forward with his fists.

Richard blocked with his fists on either side of his face, deftly dodging and shifting positions, effortlessly avoiding the attacks.

The Lieutenant Colonel kept swinging, hitting Richard's arms, making loud thudding sounds.

"Go, Lieutenant Colonel!"

"New York kid, hold on! If you last a round, I'll date you."

"New York kid, hang in there. You're close to dating Sigourney."

The crowd of hundreds shouted and cheered, making the scene very lively.

Pow! Pow! Pow!

The Lieutenant Colonel continued his assault, punch after punch.

To the onlookers, it seemed like he was having a great time, but he knew it was futile.

His target was Richard's head, but Richard's defense was too solid.

His two fists acted like shields, guarding his head and face tightly, leaving no openings. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't break through Richard's defense.

It was frustrating.

Pow! Pow! Pow!

After over thirty more punches, the Lieutenant Colonel was exhausted, drenched in sweat. Panting heavily, he said, "Hey, kid, can you stop just defending and throw a punch?"

"Lieutenant Colonel, my punches are quite heavy..."

"Shut up and hit me. Even if you kill me, no one will blame you."

The Lieutenant Colonel shouted.

"Alright!"

Richard agreed.

"Haha, now it's interesting."

The Lieutenant Colonel grinned, thinking he had tricked Richard.

The kid's strength lay in defense. If he continued to defend, the Lieutenant Colonel would tire out without breaking through. But once Richard attacked, it would leave an opening for the Lieutenant Colonel to strike back.

"Lieutenant Colonel, I'm going to punch now," Richard warned.

"Good, hit me!"

The Lieutenant Colonel raised his fists, closely watching Richard, ready to counter-attack as soon as he saw an opening.

Whoosh~

A punch suddenly came flying towards him.

What the hell?

Bang!

Before he could react, he was hit squarely in the face. His head snapped back, and he felt dizzy. He bit down hard, trying to steady himself and not fall.

Thud~

The world flipped, and he landed flat on his back.

"..."

Silence fell over the gym. Hundreds of people stared at the fallen Lieutenant Colonel.

"Is this..."

"The Lieutenant Colonel got KO'd?"

"The New York kid knocked out the Lieutenant Colonel with one punch?"

"Oh my god, how is this possible!"

The crowd exclaimed in disbelief.

"Look, the Lieutenant Colonel's nose is bleeding."

"Look, the Lieutenant Colonel is unconscious."

"Everyone, help! Get the Lieutenant Colonel to the infirmary."

The scene turned chaotic as people hurriedly carried the Lieutenant Colonel out.

"Wait!" Richard grabbed the slow-moving fat guy. "Where is Professor Briggs? You haven't told me."

"Why do you need to know now? The Lieutenant Colonel is Professor Briggs' husband. Follow us, and you'll meet her soon."

The fat guy said.

"The Lieutenant Colonel is the professor's husband?"

"Yes, you're smart. By injuring the Lieutenant Colonel, you'll meet the professor right away. It's faster than you finding her yourself."

The fat guy praised.

Richard frowned

. If the Lieutenant Colonel is Dr. Dana Briggs' husband, and she's Reese's mother, then the Lieutenant Colonel is...

"Reese's dad?!"

At the café, Sarah Michelle Gellar's eyes widened in shock. "You knocked out her dad before even meeting her?"

"I didn't know it was him. He called me up, so I went to fight. I was worried I might hurt him, so I held back, but he went down with one punch. How is he a Marine Corps instructor?" Richard spread his hands.

"Hahaha, this is hilarious. Keep going. What did Reese do when she arrived? Did she stab you?"

Sarah laughed heartily.

"No, Reese is very gentle. She..."
