"Why don't you want any painkillers," asked Lithe worriedly.

"Have you forgotten I'm a wolf king and leader of the Starke Tribe."

Nonplussed by his words Lithe became further infuriated, "So what if you're a Starke. Do you think that seeing you in pain impresses me? Is that why you're acting tough? I won't think less of you if you accept a painkiller or three, you know."

"Jesus, even on my deathbed you want to nag," snapped Zen. "only you can make my bleeding to death be all about how it affects you."

"Make it to heaven when I'm not around. I'm not going to sit back and just watch you bleed to death on my couch," Lithe retorted, "so just tell me the real reason you won't swallow the damn painkillers."

"If you must know, Starke's can have an adverse reaction to certain drugs. Which is how I woke up with a concussion after you drugged my liquor and then that lunatic Maximillian went bat shit crazy on my skull."
