Capítulo 2: A mixed flight

(NOTE: The following scene is not likely to happen. Flights don't get mixed easily or carelessly but for the sake of the plot, let's imagine that it does. No offense to flight attendants in the house, if there are any. Hehe, enjoy)

Dongwoo's POV

I rushed towards the airport as I was just minutes away from missing my flight. It wasn't like I had anything important to do for me to have arrived late but... The traffic jam today was horrible.

It was like the universe was against me.

And then when the traffic jam finally settled down, there was a commotion between two drivers in front of us. They argued about things I did not pay attention to so I simply got down from the cab, deciding to walk.

"Thank you." I said to him, paid him, and started heading forward on foot.

At that time, I wasn't late yet but another unfortunate thing happened to me.

I passed the back of a restaurant, hoping to take a shortcut when I got drenched with fish water.

It was a total nightmare.

I looked at my drenched shirt. It was my favorite one and the thought of it being ruined hit me hard so I screamed in frustration,

"Will anything go my way for once?"

The worker sympathetically apologized, bowing her head frantically, probably hoping I wouldn't ask for compensation from her. Anyway, I forgave her.

Besides, I didn't really have time to dilly-dally.

"Well, can I use your restroom? I need to change out of this at least." I said and she readily led me in.

I made sure to clean my backpack and make sure my camera was intact, as well as my flight ticket before proceeding to change my clothes. I still had that fishy smell so I took a bath at their worker's Lodge.

"Good thing I have all I need in my bag." I muttered, feeling refreshed.

After changing, I checked the time, only to discover I was already running late and dashed out of there.

I couldn't miss this. I didn't have any money to book an extra flight if I missed it and the cost to travel to Paris was no chicken change.

One might wonder why I would bother taking a 14-hour trip when I could find a perfect scenery in Korea. It was stupid.

But I, Dongwoo, as stupid as it sounded, who was always low on cash was taking this trip to Paris in hopes that I could turn my life around by taking a great picture.

Why Paris? Because it has a great night view.

Honestly, I'm exhausted from going from one company to another, hoping to get hired as an assistant photographer at the least. But as the entertainment industry was vicious, if you didn't have any worthy connections, you weren't getting in.

Even the cleaners got in by connection. Haha.

So this time... I'm putting in all I have and taking this last chance. If I still don't get anywhere after this trip... if I can't get that shot that is capable of making one's heart race with a single glance, then... I clutched my bag... I'll give up.

I got to the airport and rushed to the checking point, not a minute to spare.

The lady behind the counter gave me a bright smile and said,

"Please move that way, sir. Your flight will be leaving in a minute so please hurry up."

For someone who was telling me I'd be late if I wasted even one second, she was awfully calm.

No, focus.

"Thank you." I took my card from her and rushed to the area she had pointed out to me.

But I got a little confused as there were two onboarding planes in that area. I got confused but knowing I had less than a minute, I decided to just get on the first one.

The tall man checking each passport took mine but before he could look inside, a flight attendant approached him and said,

"It's time to leave."

The man nodded and gave me back my passport without even looking at it.

"Have a safe flight." He said and I nodded.

"Thank you."

Little did I know that I was entering the wrong one.

The voice on the intercom announced that the plane was ready for departure, calling its serial number and the destination.

I honestly thought it was the plane I was in so I didn't think too much about it and sat down on my designated chair, and before I knew it, I had started dozing off.

So I heard none of the words that came after that from the pilot and flight attendants.

I woke up from time to time, ate the food the flight attendants had to offer, and browsed through some famous themes. I took my time cleaning my camera lenses and then went back to sleep shortly after.

And like water flowing under the bridge, we got to our destination.

"Thank you for boarding with us." The flight attendant said as the passengers made their way out of the plane. "How you had a wonderful trip."

"Yes, thank you." Thankfully, she spoke Korean so I could understand her.

I knew a little bit of French and more of English so I was confident that I would be able to hold a conversation if I met anyone new.

Anyone... New, huh? Was I still hung up on that?

I was nothing but a coward. I could never find anyone new.

After highlighting the plane, I followed the crowd to the checking point, and then, I realized there was something strange.

Instead of French, why was I hearing the people speaking Italian?

I was honestly confused but wanted to assume that they were just Italians who were visiting Paris but then I saw more and more people.

Then, it started to hit me. But I didn't want to admit it. I didn't want to believe I came to the wrong place.

'A dream.' I thought. 'This has to be a dream. I'm probably still sleeping on the plane and having this horrible... Horrible dream.' I pinched my cheek but there was pain.

A lady passed in front of me and I said in English,

"Excuse me, where is this?"

She looked at me strangely as if not understanding what I said, but seeing I had a suitcase and was just coming out of the airport, she smiled and replied in English,

"Welcome to Italy."

As soon as I heard that, my heart shattered and my mind entered what you call an oblivion state.

"Eh?"

Italy. I had landed in Italy and not Paris.

"Arghhh!" I yelled, grabbing my head as I felt the world really had it out for me. "Why am I so unfortunate?" I screamed.
