Capítulo 13: Chapter 13 New Directions

"Don't let him into the room; Jason is still inside!"

The man was tightly pursuing Blanché.

"Who are you?!" Blanché asked, panic rising in her voice.

"I finally found you. Mr. Allen said to bring you back no matter what."

Mr. Allen?! Blanché was horrified; he had really found her…

Her heart raced, feeling as if she could jump into the sea to escape this place.

The feeling of having nowhere to hide made her anxious. This man said he was going to take her back; was that Allen's idea? Did Allen hate her that much?

Blanché took a step back, and the man followed closely.

"Hey, don't try any tricks. Mr. Allen said if you don't come back with me willingly, I'll use your son as leverage."

Blanché's heart skipped a beat, and she blurted out, "No!"

Jason was her life; how could he threaten her with Jason?

"Then you'll come with me obediently, or you'll regret it."

The man was burly and strong, and Blanché knew she was no match for him. But she couldn't believe Allen would use Jason against her; after all, Jason was his son too.

"What did Allen say to you?" Blanché asked.

"You woman, why are you asking so many questions? You betrayed the president and still expect him to forgive you and let you go? Dream on!"

The man was irritable and clearly didn't want to talk much with Blanché.

Grinding her teeth, Blanché knew she couldn't just follow this man. Jason was waiting for her. She glanced at the life preserver hanging over the man's head, and an idea formed in her mind.

"Fine, I'll go with you, but I have a condition."

"What condition? Hurry up and say it."

"I want to say goodbye to my son. I'm his mother; it's only natural for me to say goodbye."

After thinking it over, the man replied, "Okay, let's go. I'll follow you."

Seeing that he wouldn't leave her side, as soon as she stepped into the cabin, Blanché suddenly released the rope of the life preserver. The man was unexpectedly ensnared, momentarily unable to move.

Blanché took off running. This was Felix's territory; since Allen had sent someone to find her, it would be more appropriate to seek help from Felix.

But Blanché underestimated the man's strength. He struggled for only two seconds before breaking free. The first thing he did wasn't to chase after Blanché but to shout and run toward Jason's room.

Blanché's legs felt like they were filled with lead; she couldn't utter a single word of help. If she called for help, what would happen to Jason…

Allen, you're ruthless! Blanché cursed inwardly and hurried to follow the man.

Jason was still sound asleep. Thank goodness he was asleep; otherwise, seeing this scene would have terrified him.

"We'll talk outside," Blanché whispered, her voice trembling.

The man snorted coldly, "You're asking for trouble. I won't give you a chance. Today, I'm going to make your son pay for your betrayal to Mr. Allen. You deserve it!"

"Don't—"

Blanché reached out to stop him, but the man shoved her aside, causing her to collide with the cabinet, her arm aching faintly.

"You shameless woman," the man sneered. "I really don't understand how Mr. Allen could ever be interested in you. I doubt your son is even his; how could such a bastard possibly be the heir of the Smith family?"

Blanché could tolerate others hurting her, but she could not stand anyone insulting her son.

"Shut your mouth! What right do you, a crude person, have to speak about my son?!"

"A crude person?" The man mocked. "You left the president for money and power; how noble could you possibly be? Blanché, a vain woman like you should have been ground to dust long ago!"

Blanché felt her heart sink; she had heard such words many times before, so they didn't hurt her anymore. But what the man said next made her heart drop.

"The president said that if we can't deal with you this time, we'll just throw your son into the sea. Then you'll naturally suffer for the rest of your life; that will be your greatest punishment."

Blanché's fingers trembled. She never expected Allen to hate her this much; was his hatred so deep?

An invisible hand tightened around Blanché's heart, and her mind buzzed. She didn't know how to calm down or how to save Jason.

Felix had intended to come check on Jason, but upon hearing the commotion inside, he thought Jason had woken up. Just as he was about to step in, he heard Blanché's voice trembling, seemingly filled with a hint of compromise.

"What does he want?! I know it was my fault back then… but this has nothing to do with Jason! If there's anything, come at me!"

Felix had never heard Blanché so agitated before; she had always been calm. Could it be…

"Dealing with you won't bring revenge; as long as your son is gone, all that pain will be gone."

Blanché gritted her teeth. "If you dare to touch Jason, I will kill you with everything I have."

"Go ahead, try…"

Upon hearing the man's words, Felix's expression hardened, and he quickly instructed his assistant to bring people to Jason.

Blanché looked at Jason's innocent sleeping face, wishing she could take his place. The man's menacing figure loomed over her as he reached for Jason. Just as Blanché screamed for him not to, several people suddenly burst through the window.

Blanché only caught a glimpse of a few figures; a rush of wind swept past her, and the man was pinned to the ground, while Jason was already in Felix's arms.

"Are you okay?" Felix asked Blanché.

Seeing Felix, Blanché felt as if all her strength had been drained away. Tears filled her eyes as she hugged Jason, crying uncontrollably.

Felix was also affected by her emotions; a mother's greatest concern is her child. Blanché must have been terrified and fearful just moments ago…

"It's okay now…" Felix comforted her.

Blanché nodded. Jason had taken some calming medicine, so he was sleeping deeply. She took Jason to another room, settled him, and then went to interrogate the man.

Felix stood beside her, arms crossed, looking down at the man with disdain. "Who sent you to dare to act recklessly on my territory?"

Blanché had helped Felix before, so as her benefactor, it was only right that he helped her seek justice.

"Why should I tell you? If you have the guts, make that woman speak! She's the one who did something wrong and doesn't want to tell anyone, now she's pretending to be a saint."

Felix looked at Blanché. Although she was furious, thinking about Allen's intentions made her feel cold and desolate. How had they reached this point? Did Allen really want to take revenge on her? Did he hate her that much?

It was true that she had left at the wrong time… It was normal for outsiders to misunderstand her, but she had her reasons. For so long, Blanché had tried to avoid Allen, yet he still wouldn't let her go.

"Let him go," Blanché said.

Everything was her fault; she was the source of all the problems.

Felix couldn't believe it. "You really want to let him go…"

"Yes," Blanché said firmly. "Let him go. I want him to take a message back."

Her grievances with Allen were between the two of them. No matter how much he tormented her, she could endure it; after all, it was her debt to him. But harming Jason was something that crossed a line for Blanché.

Felix looked at Blanché with increased curiosity. Who was she that could provoke such a pursuit? Who exactly was she?

Noticing Felix's scrutiny, Blanché said, "These are debts I owe; I want to resolve them myself."

Felix understood. He snapped his fingers and led his men away.

The man was already tied up tightly.

Blanché took a deep breath and said, "I know Allen hates me, especially since I left without a word this time… But I have my own life. It's true that I betrayed him back then, so it's normal for him to hate me. How he punishes me doesn't matter, but he cannot touch my son."

"I want to live a new life; dwelling on the past brings no benefits. You go back and tell him that no matter how he retaliates against me, I will endure it. But if he touches Jason, I will fight him with everything I have."

Blanché's feelings for Allen were complex; she couldn't quite articulate whether it was guilt or something else… But since things had already turned a page, and she had fallen to the point of being ridiculed by everyone, there was no need to cling to the past any longer.

But Allen had already lost his mind and even wanted to harm her child, something Blanché absolutely could not tolerate. If Allen dared to act, Blanché would fight back to the end. Even if she wasn't a match for Allen, she had to give it a try.

The man let out a cold snort, looking down on Blanché. "What are you? You think you can compete with the president?"
