Capítulo 17: stormy nights
It was morning!, the trio had finally woke up well cassie and sunny woke up. Neph was on watch so she had already been awake for a while, the winds were harsher today but that didnt matter to the trio.
Sunny stood up and dusted of the puppeteers shroud, he then began to remove pieces of meat from the makeshift pouch he had made on his journey to meet the girls and lit a fire, the roasting meat gave off a pleasant smell despite its appearances so when it was done sunny hadnt hesitated to devour his portion.
The girls on the other hand took their time with the scavenger meat making sure to savour it as best as they could, for they knew a long arduos journey was ahead of them.
After savouring the meat the trio began to discuss the swarm of nightmare creatures, only now had sunny told them about why they were there. The beasts were feasting on the massive corpse of the beast which had chased him on his first night in the dream realm, when he told them this nephis was the first to speak up.
"how long" she spoke a tint of worry in her voice.
"I suggest you tell her how long is left until the monsters give up on the corpse" Alan mentally asked sunny, and sunny did so giving them an answer of 2-3 days left until they would begin hunting other food,
"i see.... Lets start going then" Nephis added as she began to pack her items though not many, into a small pouch she could tie to her waist.
Very soon after the three had their conversation they found themselves climbing down the mountain and onto the safety of the daylight sands, the warmth the sands emitted was comforting and at the sensation of it sunny felt himself relax slightly.
He did not have long to appreciate the sands warmth as before he knew it he was walking, Nephis seemed to be in a hurry to avoid the creature which was understandable so sunny did not complain about it.
"you're like a child" Alan interjected which threw Sunny off guard, with how little he had been speaking to him he had begun to forget he was even there!, Nephis had seemed to notice Sunny's odd behaviour and noted on it giving him a weird look.
Despite only having left the camp for a few minutes they had already found a lone scavenger, Nephis questioned sunny on if he knew the beasts weak points to which he replied a short "no".
There was no use in trying to lie to her at the moment, he really didn't know the weak points Alan didn't really bother with telling him since the sword sliced through them no matter where it came into contact with it.
"Then how..." Nephis spoke confusion laid bare in her tone.
"My sword" sunny simply added.
Suddenly sparks of gold coalesced around his hand and formed into a long black, worn and torn odachi. Which garnered a look of shock from Nephis
His sword like hers was an Awakened one of a high tier, the tier she was not sure on but the fact it held immense power indicated the sword was a great one.
At this sunny rushed forward toward the scavenger and wrapped the blade in his shadows then sliced the beast, its top half slowly slid off as streaks of navy blue blood splattered.
He then raised his sword high above his head and slashed it down clearing all the blood left on the blade before it turned into golden sparks and re-entered his body.
Nephis looked in awe, not even she could do this was this the result of his enhancing himself or rather his sword with his shadow?. However one thing was clear, he lacked skill he may have been fine brute forcing his way but that wont get him very far.
She had decided that she was gonna make a deal with him when they had arrived at land.
The trio made their way through the labyrinth killing many more monsters along the way, sunny even received an echo! although it was being used as transport for cassie so it was practically useless for now atleast.
However in Alans mind, he couldn't help but feel he had forgotten something, but when he had realised a small drop of rain found itself atop sunnys head. Followed by another then another, until they were so continuous it could be called rain.
"Shit, shit shit" Alan mumbled to sunny.
"Get running now, a storms coming!" He screeched giving sunny a small migraine.
Sunny looked to the two girls worried and began to shout, "RUN!, ITS A STORM!". At this Nephis began sprinting while sunny gave the echo the command to go full speed toward the nearest piece of elevated land.
Trailing behind Sunny enhanced his body with his shadows and began to run after the two. He found himself catching up when the water began to rise at first steadily but it then evolved into faced paced flooding.
They were still 100 meters away from the nearest piece of land, Beasts and abominations ran past them ignoring them in fear of the dark sea and began burying themselves so as to not be found by the abominations that lay in its depths.
The water skimmed over Sunny and Nephis's feet before quickly rising to their knees by then even Cassie knew what was happening and held on tighter to the echoes back.
What was fast paced sprinting turned into slow slushed steps, thankfully by that point they were close to the cliff side and nephis and Cassie were basically already at it beginning to climb.
Sunny was almost too late even with his enhanced speed, barely making it to the cliff in time, he thankfully did and used his enhanced body to leap up the side and reach the top to be met with Neph and Cass.
When he got there he was met by a sweating neph and a scared looking cassie.
They could finally rest until Alan told him something, something so unrealistic at the moment he couldn't believe it.
"There's an awakened monster on this island"
