Capítulo 7: Chapter 7 : Ryueen and Ramen
After School
In the morning, I was called to the Ryuen's place, and I'm waiting in the empty classroom where no one else is left. I've been waiting for Ryuen for about 10 minutes now, but he hasn't shown up.
... Should I just go home?
As I'm preparing to leave since he's taking so long, I hear footsteps approaching from the hallway side. For a moment, I thought it might be a teacher. But hearing the rough footsteps, I knew it wasn't.
"Heh. Trying to leave, are you?"
"It's because you're late..."
Ryuen forcefully opens the door and confirms that I'm here, smiling as he looks towards me.
"So, what's up? I haven't done anything, have I?"
"Don't give me that. You've worked harder than anyone this time."
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
He probes me, but I evade the question and play dumb. Well, he probably already knows, so it doesn't really matter.
"...Why did you credit me?"
He slightly drops his smile and asks me.
"It's most convenient for me that way. I have no intention of standing out right now, so let me be your pawn."
Realizing it's futile to keep evading, I decide to say what I want since I want Ryuen to understand how I want to be treated.
"Heh. Then I'll use you until you're worn out, so brace yourself."
Ryuen laughs with amusement at my words.
Maybe I've said too much.
While I do think it's best not to stand out, I don't want to be exploited that much.
"Sounds like a black company..."
"And 'right now' implies you'll eventually stand out, right?"
"...Well, someday."
Ryuen seems suspicious of my awkward reply, but he seems satisfied with his own conclusion and doesn't direct his gaze towards me anymore.
"Anyway, thanks to you, our class points have increased. As a reward, I'll take you somewhere nice. Follow me."
As if remembering something, Ryuen says that to me and leaves the classroom. Since I'm ready to go home too, I follow after Ryuen.
What does he mean by "somewhere nice"?
Given Ryuen's usual image, I can't help but imagine places like hostess clubs...
While thinking that, I follow Ryuen, and the surroundings start to darken. We walk to a slightly secluded area off Keyaki Mall, where various shops are lined up. It's a bit hard to find, but quite a few people are here, so it must be a hidden gem.
"Here we are."
Ryuen arrives at what he calls "somewhere nice," amidst various shops lined up.
It looks like a ramen shop from what I can see. It's my first time eating ramen since coming to this school, so I feel a bit excited as I walk towards the shop with Ryuen.
....
"That was delicious..."
"Heh, told you."
We finished our ramen and by the time we left the shop, it was completely dark outside. Walking back to the dorm with Ryuen for the first time left me feeling a bit puzzled, but I couldn't help but remember the ramen we just had.
"That was the best ramen I've ever had since coming to this school."
"Right? It's a hidden gem, so don't go telling everyone about it."
"If it's that good, are there more places like that? If there are, invite me again."
"Heh, sure. But in return, you gotta work hard."
"Leave it to me. My motivation through the roof."
"Easy for you to say."
Ryuen laughs at my words, seeming quite pleased. I'm thinking it might be good to invite Ishizaki and the others next time—Shiina and Ibuki too. Not long ago, the old Ryuen wouldn't have invited me like this, and even if he did, Ishizaki and the others would probably have been turned down.
But now, Ryuen has grown, so there shouldn't be any problem inviting the others.
"Speaking of which, why were you late today?"
I've been curious about this all day. He's got a bad attitude, but it's strange for him to be late when he's the one who invited me in the first place. If he says it's just whim, then that's the end of it.
"Some guys from our class called me out. They didn't like the way I do things."
"Huh. There are still people opposing you, huh. Well, knowing you, you probably brushed it off easily. Who was it?"
"Some guy named Tokito. I told him to come talk to me after he's achieved something worth talking about."
That sounds about right according to Ryuen. Unless someone's causing trouble in the class, criticizing someone who's achieving is just selfish.
"Well, you're the class leader, so handle it well."
"And you, make sure to work hard as my pawn."
As we talk and reach the dorm, we each head towards our rooms. Ryuen, with a final ironic comment to my sarcasm, laughs and heads back to his room.

I wanted to wrap it up here because we're moving on to the deserted island test next!
I just felt it would be too forced to jump straight into the deserted island test from here, so I'll end it here for now.
Next, we'll finally dive into the deserted island test.
I'd like to involve characters who haven't appeared yet, maybe on a luxurious cruise ship. Also, I'm thinking of deepening the involvement with Sakayanagi and Shiina.
