"Ara ara, what's all this commotion in such cold weather?"
Shinobu's soft voice cut through the tension in the air, her words carrying a light-hearted tone as she entered the room with a gentle smile on her face. Instantly, all eyes shifted towards her.
Kintaro couldn't help but admire the delicate design of her attire. For the first time, he encountered someone with hair color somewhat similar to his own. However, there was a noticeable difference in their eyes—Kintaro's vibrant purple eyes were full of life, contrasting with Shinobu's calm and darker hues.
Shinobu stood on the wooden floor, wearing casual indoor sandals. Behind her, Kanao, with her pink eyes and black hair, moved silently, carrying a tray with empty cups and a steaming teapot. The steam rising from the teapot was a comforting sight in the cold weather.
"Shinobu-sama..." murmured Kanzaki with her blue eyes focused on Shinobu. Her quiet voice prompted Shinobu to respond,
"What's the matter, Oi-chan? Do we have another guest?"
Kanzaki glanced back at Kintaro and replied,
"This boy... he says he's a Hashira."
Unexpectedly, the playful smile on Shinobu's face faded, replaced by a different kind of smile, one with a serious edge. It wasn't the same peaceful smile as before. Now, her gaze turned towards Kintaro, and after a moment of silence, she asked,
"Oh? A Hashira, you say? I see, I see..."
She paused for a few seconds before continuing,
"And since when did you become a Hashira?"
She asked with a smile, but there was a strange undertone in her voice—her usual gentle tone now carried a hint of seriousness.
The atmosphere grew oddly quiet, and all eyes turned to Kintaro. It felt as if the light snowfall outside had slowed down. Kanzaki, Kanao, and the little girl Kanau were all staring at Kintaro, but the most intense gaze came from Shinobu, waiting for his answer. He spoke in a calm, casual tone,
"It's my first week__"
*Whoosh!!*
Before Kintaro could finish, the Butterfly Hashira dashed towards him, attempting to kick his face directly with the sole of her sandal. Kintaro barely managed to dodge at the last moment, feeling the wooden sandal brush against the ends of his purple-tipped hair.
He quickly jumped back, exclaiming,
"What the...?!"
*Whoosh!!*
Shinobu lunged at him again with incredible agility, this time aiming a double kick at his face. Instinctively, Kintaro raised his arms to shield himself.
*Bash!*
Kintaro closed his eyes, bracing for impact, expecting to be thrown back by the force. But strangely, the weight of the double kick was unexpectedly light. However, Shinobu didn't stop there. While still airborne, she delivered four consecutive kicks, trying to knock him down, but Kintaro skillfully defended his face with his arms.
Seeing this, Shinobu pretended to fall to the ground, but instead, she placed her hands on the floor, keeping her legs in the air. She brought her right foot down like a hammer towards Kintaro.
*Bash!!*
She broke through Kintaro's defense, exposing his midsection. Without hesitation, she swung her left foot and kicked his stomach with all her strength.
*Bash!!*
Initially, she was smiling, but her expression changed when she realized she couldn't retract her leg. Kintaro had caught it, his purple eyes glowing as he spoke,
"Do I look like I'm in the mood to fight?"
*Whoosh!!*
With a remarkable display of strength, Kintaro hurled Shinobu into the air, her light body soaring upwards, leaving everyone watching in shock. Shinobu, however, was still smiling as the wind whipped her hair and attire back and forth.
Kintaro wasn't done yet. He looked up at Shinobu and said,
"Electro Breathing ~ Free Style..."
*Zap!!*
Kintaro shot into the air like a purple flash, a sight that left everyone present stunned, as he appeared above Shinobu like a stormy night.
He was now upside down, positioned like a soccer player about to perform a bicycle kick. During the flip, Shinobu was impressed by the fierce expression on his face, skillfully dodging his kick in mid-air, which left a trail of purple energy in its wake.
Both of them landed softly on their feet on the icy-covered porch, and this time, Shinobu's face displayed a look of satisfaction as she spoke with a smile,
"It seems you're not just talking; you really are on the level of a Hashira."
Kintaro exhaled, his breath visible in the cold air, and said,
"Wait, was that a test? I thought you were serious."
Ignoring his remark, Shinobu turned to Konai and said,
"I'd like to have some tea now; it's really cold today."
'She completely ignored me... Does this mean she trusts me now?' Kintaro wondered as he remained standing, watching Shinobu and Konai walk away. As he pondered what he should do next, Kanzaki spoke to him,
"It seems Shinobu-sama doesn't mind your presence here. You can rest a bit before heading to your next mission. After all, you're not the only guest here..."
Kintaro was surprised to hear that there might be other guests besides him. As everyone moved inside, he decided to take a few steps behind them.
