(Chapter 2)
I walk into and down the alleyway feeling my bloodlust rise, the air around me goes frigid, ice crystals forming in the air around me as I move closer to a man with racoon-like features holding the woman against the wall, he's holding a hand over her mouth to keep her from becoming too loud as he holds a knife to her.
"Just hold your ass still, bitch, I don't want to have to kill you." My new ears twitch, picking up his voice over the crowded streets. "You just had to run away before we made our deal."
"My, my, what do we have here? It seems we have a volunteer for my next hunt." My voice is cold as the ice collected around me, the crystals growing larger and sharper as my bloodlust rises further. "You should run... Or try." I giggle. "You won't get far." I tilt my head at an angle, and grab one of the ice shards, testing the point with my finger.
"What do you want bitch?" He snaps at me. "You want to have fun too?"
I laugh, "Sure, I'll 'play' alright." launching the ice shard towards his head. It grazes his racoon like ear, taking a small piece with it. "This is the part where you run away." I growl. I can feel my eyes change as my vision becomes even sharper, my claws growing longer and sharpening more than before, and my teeth-fangs? growing and changing.
Not that I'd ever let him actually escape. He is now prey, and I don't let prey go, I play with it, break it.
His eyes widen, pupils becoming small as he takes in the changes to my form, his body starting to shake.
The woman's pitch black, empty eyes go wider, and she looks more scared than before.
Grabbing another sharp ice crystal I stalk towards them, I feel my muscles tense to ready for a possible chase. The raccoon demon looks ready to bolt. "I see you don't take advice when it's given. A shame really, I like the chase." I say with a swish of my tail, and quicker than I thought myself capable, had him pinned by the neck to the opposite wall as the woman, claws on one hand digging into his flesh until his blood ran. I am apparently much faster than before, that is very nice.
"L-let me go you bitch!" He starts to struggle, the claws of both his hands grabbing at the arm holding him hostage.
"Well that's not very nice." I tilt my head, my eyes narrowing. "Where in hell did you leave your manners? Not that you are going to need them much longer..." My ears twitch and focus on the woman as she tries to slowly escape down the alleyway. Eyes not leaving my prey, I call over my shoulder. "I would stay put if I were you, you're still going to need to express your thanks when I'm done with our 'friend' here." I can hear her freeze in place, the scent of her fear still strong.
I take the ice shard slowly stabbing it through the raccoon demon's shoulder, watching him hiss in pain as he realizes just how much trouble he's really in. That I'm not a normal sinner, as my smile grows with the amount blood flowing from the wound, my head tilting to the side a little. "Ah, so demons can bleed! What a pleasant surprise!" Grabbing another ice crystal, I aim for his other shoulder.
"Wa-wait! Wait!" He yells out.
"Yes?" I say in a singsong voice. "Make it quick my guy, you are ruining my bloodlust buzz." I tilt my head the other way.
"I-i-if-if you let me go, I'll make a deal with you! Now I can't sell you my soul because someone already owns that, but anything else! Please anything else." He is shivering as he speaks.
It makes me wonder what those changes to my body I could feel, look like, especially to instill that much more fear. Or is it simply that rare to be able to change forms?
"What are these 'deals' you speak of? How do they work?" I ask as I placed the ice shard against his uninjured shoulder and press slowly, giving him enough time to speak if he's going to go into detail. "Elaborate." I drag out the word.
The hollow eyed lady speaks up before the man has a chance, making attention turn to her for the moment. "Deals are a form of currency here in Hell. Once a deal is struck, it is a binding contract between those whom have agreed upon the terms. There is no way out of the deal unless all parties agree to it." She rubs her hands up and down her arms to comfort herself.
"Interesting..." I turn back to my prey, tilting my head again, my ears twitching, and tail wagging back and forth in my amusement. "It would seem that you do have another possible use other than carnage, and pretty red splatters."
The raccoon shivers. "Y-yeah, like I said, anything else but my soul. I can't sell it twice."
"Pity, I could have had so much more fun if you had your soul to bargain." My amusement was obvious. "How about you do two things for me and we call it a day?" I grin.
"Y-yeah, sure. What do you want me to do?"
The lady speaks up again, shaking her head. "You have to shake on it. It will not be a binding agreement unless you do."
"Oh?" My amusement simmers down, my eyes narrowing once more as I lean in closer to the raccoon demon, my grip on his neck tightening. "Did you just try to get away without having complete your end of this deal?" My claws dig farther into his flesh and blood flows more freely.
He looks like a deer caught in headlights. "N-n-no?"
"No?" I drag out the sound of the question in the word. "Then, pray tell, what you thought you were doing? Hmmm?"
"I-I-I was waiting until you let me go to tell you."
"I don't like lies Ricky. Strike one."
"M-my name is Mike."
"Not the point Ricky. Strike two, you don't want me to get to three." I tighten my grip just enough for him to feel the difference.
"ALRIGHT! I WAS GOING TO RUN OFF!" He yells out, now shaking in fear.
"Now that wasn't so bad now was it, Ricky?"
Poor thing looks like he wants to piss himself or pass-out (maybe both). More often than not the ones that put on a show for the weak, are the ones who show the most cowardice when faced with someone stronger.
"N-no... What are the terms of the deal? You have to say them before we can sh-shake."
My grin makes it's way back onto my face, I pull back a bit and tilt my head as if in thought. "You owe me three favors in exchange for letting you go, they can be anything within your power, and you have no right to refuse. Does that sound good?"
He nods.
"Use your words please."
"Y-yes. But wasn't it only two?"
"That was before you lied Ricky. Now let's get this over with before I get impatient and decide it's four, shall we?" I release my hold on the ice shard in his shoulder, and hold out my hand to shake. "Do we have a deal?"
"Deal." He takes one hand from my arm, and grasps my hand. For a moment my hand glows with icey blue light, and the glow spreads out from the two of us leaving glowing cracks along the walls and ground.
"Good." I drop the raccoon demon on the ground like a bag of rocks and start to walk towards the woman, grabbing another ice shard, playing with it, pressing my finger to the sharp point. "Question, my dear. Is death permanent for a demon?"
She still looked uncomfortable, but seemed to have noticed my lack of hostility towards her. "Not unless killed with angelic steel, or other special methods."
"Oh?" My grin stretches wide, and I quickly turn and launch the ice shard through the retreating racoon's head. "I did say I'd let you go, not that I'd let you live. You would think you would know to be more careful about wording, if you know more about deals that is." I walk over and kick him with my combat boot, then look over my shoulder at the lady. "How long until sleeping beauty is up an at 'em?"
She blinks blankly. "A few hours? Head damage takes the longest for sinners to heal."
"Are you not a sinner then?" I question, I turn back towards the lady, my body language much friendlier than before, and the ice around me melting as I feel my body change back to it's new normal.
"No, I am hellborn, from cannibal town."
"Cannibal town?" I tilt my head, one eyebrow raising. "So are you a cannibal then?" My voice is curious.
She looks slightly startled by my curiosity, and calm reaction. "Yes. Almost all of us in cannibal town, are cannibals. Though not all are hellborn."
"Neat. Do you want him when I'm done with him?" I hook my thumb back towards the raccoon demon's body. "Once he's of no use to me, surely he'd at least make a decent meal. It's the least he could do after he was so rude to a lady after all."
With that I finally got a smile out of her, all razor sharp triangular teeth. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I like the hunt, but I don't eat my kills. If you, and your town can benefit from that, I see no reason not to share." I give her smile, and a small chuckle.
"Shall we introduce ourselves then? I am Annabella." She nods to me.
"Ah, you can call me Snow." I nod back. "You don't happen to have a place where I can store this do you?" I motion towards the temporary corpse behind me.
"I have just the place, as long as you don't mind the other cannibals." She grins again.
And why would I mind that.
