Capítulo 12: Sirius's Secret

Sirius didn't know why he's casually revealing his biggest secret to a girl he met just a few days ago.

The only people who knew about his double identities were the people in this mansion and his one subordinate guarding God's Palm.

That's a total of four people.

Now five.

"My blood manipulation came from our clan's element, water. You must know about the Alpha-blooded clans and the five core elements. The only surviving core elements now are water from our clan and earth from the Danchevs. Over the generations, the abilities that manifested in our blood became variations of water manipulation. Mine is blood. Ironically, I was also born with a defective circulatory system. Blood was irregularly pumped into my heart, my brain, my organs. Sometimes it clogged somewhere and I'd be fighting for my life.

I first trained my ability on myself.

Blood manipulation is dangerous when done to others, so I practiced it on myself. Eventually, I controlled my own blood circulation and technically cured myself of my illness."

Sirius carefully watched Alice's face.

She's confused but is trying hard to keep up with him.

"I see. I dare not question Your Highness why you hide it from your family."

Sirius leaned on his desk. He shook his head, laughing.

She just basically asked him.

"My family is too busy to even notice me. They've gotten used to me resting in this isolated mansion, gotten too used to my illness. My father has no hope in my recovery, so he does not deserve to know."

Alice felt his sadness.

He's harboring hate to his family for giving up on him. Deep in her heart, she understood that betrayal and resonated with him.

"My father…" Alice quietly murmured. "…also gave up on me."

After seeing she didn't show the potential of inheriting any abilities, her father started ignoring her. He let his wife and stepdaughter abuse her and turned a blind eye.

So she also subconsciously never told him because she also didn't feel he deserved to know.

"It seems we're in the same boat." Sirius scoffed. "My other identity is dangerous., so this is all you should know for now. It's for the best."

Alice wanted to know more. Who is his other identity?

But she doesn't dare ask.

"I understand. I'm grateful for your trust, Your Highness."

"It doesn't come for free."

Alice was about to bow but paused. Before she could think of what to say, he continued.

"I will publicize our intention of getting married. And that we're mates. Unfortunately, there are no more chances for you to escape because we'll be officially engaged, starting tomorrow."

Sirius carefully watched her reaction.

Mates or not, Sirius does not fully trust Alice. But after her actions today, it at least gave him a sign that he won't meet another one like her again.

Alice could not sleep that night.

She's gonna die of curiosity at this rate.

Who is he, really? How dangerous is he?

Alice groaned and stood up. She opened her window quietly, mindful of Sirius's enhanced hearing. Though he must've already learned to control it like her.

She knew either Lola or Livvy would see her once she poked her head out, and she wasn't wrong. The sound of wings flapping reached her ears.

A mysterious bird flew to her but perched in a tree near the gate. Lola's big, familiar eyes glimmered from the dark.

"Tail them tomorrow," she whispered.

"We were waiting for you to say that."

"What do you mean?"

"We've been doing that ever since we arrived. We have everything you want to know."

Alice's lips parted in surprise. She slowly smiled.

"I want to hear all of it tomorrow."

"Mhm!"

Alice closed her windows and returned to her bed. Lola and Livvy would have her answers, but she can't be too careless while Sirius is in residence.

She's grateful for his trust. Even more so for the security that being his future wife will offer. But she knows he's still wary of her. And she doesn't care, she's just grateful.

Up until now, this is the best treatment she's received.

She doesn't want to lose it for keeping secrets and not trusting him, so she'll have to share her secret soon too.

Soon…

As soon as Lord Alderidge returned to the palace, he went straight to his brother's study.

"I came to your son's mansion today."

King Reginald could see his scowl. Being his younger brother who is always temperamental and hard-headed, he is already used to this.

"And?" He returns to reading his documents.

"His fiancée wouldn't let me see him. Said he particularly ordered no guests. And that I should respect his wishes!"

The High Alpha paused.

"The audacity of that Delta girl. She's just a desperate resort so that our bloodline will be passed on. How dare she go against me!"

"Well, she's just protecting her fiancé's wishes, as you said. That boy doesn't even answer my summons. He certainly doesn't want to see anyone from outside."

"But I'm just worried about his condition! You said he's been bedridden for weeks now." Lord Alderidge glared at his brother.

"He is. But he always recovers. Let's just wait until he's well enough to see us."

"That boy is just like you when we were young, but worse! Way worse!"

King Reginald leaned on his seat when his brother left the room. He wondered if his son already heard about his decree. Probably not, since he's busy recovering.

The High Alpha sighs. He doesn't want to lose hope, but the reality is too hard to ignore.

He just hopes this new fiancée that's lasting a while can at least give him a grandchild. That's all he wants. He doesn't need him to be his heir—that's too much burden on his already weak body.
