Capítulo 11: Darkrai
Alamos Town, Library.
In the attic, filled with scattered papers and piled books, researcher Tonio unearthed a dust-covered book, the lenses of his glasses reflecting a faint light.
Tonio looked at the yellowed photograph tucked inside the book and murmured:
"Alice's grandmother, Alicia, encountered the god of nightmares, Darkrai, in the courtyard.
Never believing in humans and hated by everyone, Darkrai opened his heart only to Alicia.
Under the architecture designed by Gaudí, Darkrai began residing in the Pokémon Garden..."
Tonio closed the book, feeling a surge of emotion.
"So, for nearly a hundred years, Darkrai has been silently protecting Mimosa City...
The reason he saved Alice must be because of this. So that means!" Tonio angrily ruffled his hair.
"The spatial rift above Twinleaf Town has nothing to do with Darkrai at all!"
...
"Darkrai..."
While the townsfolk were out celebrating, Lin Jiu huddled in a secluded hut. He thought of the Darkrai who had always defended Mimosa City, showing immense battle prowess, even standing up to both Dialga and Palkia.
He had long studied how to use the three items he painstakingly acquired. It required some time to activate the power within the Red Chain! Before that, it was essential for Darkrai to hold off Dialga and Palkia.
Under normal circumstances, Darkrai would do this without Lin Jiu's intervention. The townsfolk had been plagued by nightmares for a long time, and Baron Alberto had formed a team to capture Darkrai. Their fighting strength was hardly a threat.
But things were different now; Cynthia was also in Eterna City. If the townsfolk and the mayor couldn't handle Darkrai, they would naturally seek help from the Sinnoh Champion to drive Darkrai away!
Cynthia might not be able to completely defeat Darkrai, but she could certainly weaken it. In a severe case, both could end up severely injured. By the time the battle between the two gods began, Darkrai might not hold out for long. At that point, whether it was his chance with the Red Chain or his backup plan with the Oración song, both would be ruined!
However, he wasn't suited to go out now. Not to mention whether he could find Darkrai, if he got caught by Cynthia along the way, he would be sent straight to the League's detention center, and it would be over for him.
He might have had a chance to persuade Cynthia about the matter of the space-time gods, but after deceiving her several times, if Lin Jiu got caught now and tried to speak, Cynthia would only consider it a lie. A lie specifically crafted to target her interest in Sinnoh mythology!

"You're not allowed to come here!"
After Baron Alberto formed the Darkrai capture team, Darkrai's figure had appeared several times.
Hearing the meaning conveyed through Darkrai's telepathy, Baron Alberto angrily shouted:
"Why? This is our territory, you're the one who should leave!"
Courageous but lacking in strength, Baron Alberto was defeated by Darkrai in just two moves!
"Just wait, I'll get Champion Cynthia to deal with you!"
Baron Alberto threatened before hurriedly leaving. Darkrai once again turned into a shadow and disappeared!

In a place where chaos reigned, it might well be a world where everything had been destroyed. Time and space collided here, and in the void of darkness, only two intertwined figures could be seen.
Each collision between the two figures sent ripples through the darkness, shattering everything in their path. Unown residing there were touched by the ripples and disintegrated silently, their black bodies turning to dust.
When the two colossal beasts clashed, space trembled, and time seemed to come to a halt.
One was entirely silver-gray, with purple-black markings, resembling a bipedal dinosaur, with bright pearls embedded in the discs on its shoulders—the god of space, Palkia.
The other had a sapphire-blue body with metallic edges, resembling a sauropod, with a shining diamond embedded in the metallic groove on its chest—the god of time, Dialga.
Palkia swung its arm, unleashing Spacial Rend, shattering and collapsing space. Dialga roared furiously, and the ripples from Roar of Time collided with Palkia, causing countless Unown to fly out from the wounds.
Palkia gazed deeply at Dialga.
With a wave of its hand, Palkia sliced through space and headed towards a certain world, towards Mimosa Town. Dialga, relentless in its pursuit, angrily took flight and followed into the spatial rift. Only the shivering unknown patterns remained in this void world.

"Miss Cynthia, long time no see!"
Ash, who had just finished a battle, saw Cynthia's figure and waved happily.
"Beautiful champion, we meet again!"
Without a doubt, this was Brock. However, with Croagunk around, Brock was dragged away in less than three seconds.
"We meet again, Ash!"
Cynthia smiled gently. Seeing Ash reminded her of Paul, who had an opposite personality and had once challenged her. These two were quite interesting, and she was curious about the outcome of their future encounters.
"Miss Cynthia, I heard you're here to catch a fugitive. How's that going?" Dawn asked.
Cynthia shook her head regretfully, "I haven't seen that guy in Mimosa Town, seems we were misled!"
"Champion!"
While Cynthia was chatting with Ash and the others, Baron Alberto ran over with a group of people.
"Champion, please, you must help us. A Darkrai is hiding in our town; our residents have never had a good night's sleep! We tolerated that, but lately, it's been causing more and more trouble, even starting to destroy things in town! I just went to drive it away, and it fought back, telling us to get out... Please, you must deal with it!"
Baron Alberto complained bitterly to Cynthia.
"Darkrai... Lead the way!"
Cynthia was intrigued. She hadn't realized the severity of the situation yet!
"Please let us help too!"
Ash volunteered as always.

Lin Jiu checked the mission time; there were 8 days left, which meant tomorrow was the start of the Grand Festival, and today the two space-time dragons would descend. Suddenly, a ghostly Bibarel leisurely passed through the wall in front of him and then left through another wall.
...
"Get out!"
Darkrai appeared again, this time in front of the most prominent building in Mimosa Town, the Space-Time Tower. Darkrai crossed its arms, its body gathering an inky black spherical energy.
The next moment, Darkrai suddenly spread its arms! The inky black Dark Void rose into the sky, forming a black hole, from which countless small spheres shot out. Upon touching humans or Pokémon, they were swallowed, but no one was hurt, only falling asleep.
"Darkrai, let's see how the Champion deals with you!"
Baron Alberto brought Cynthia to the scene.
"Get out of here!"
Darkrai stood still, its telepathic voice echoing.
Cynthia frowned, summoned Garchomp, and prepared to attack. It seemed she had to defeat this guy first to figure out what was going on.
Darkrai sensed Garchomp's considerable strength. It didn't have the energy to deal with the people in Mimosa Town. Transforming into a shadow, it tried to leave!
"Pikachu, stop it!"
Ash timely had Pikachu block Darkrai. This action prompted the still-awake trainers to imitate; they couldn't beat it, but they could at least block it.
Seeing this, Darkrai realized it had to fight. It revealed its form, facing Garchomp.
"Garchomp..."
"Miss Cynthia!"
Just as Cynthia was about to command Garchomp to attack, a familiar voice rang out. Turning around, she saw it was indeed that guy, Red! Where had he been hiding? They couldn't find him.
Lin Jiu deliberately came out to draw attention, his disguise undone. Cynthia could now see him clearly, bandages on his hands still seeping blood, and several burn marks on his face, likely from the injured Houndour's Ember she had encountered. There were probably more wounds in unseen places.
Thinking of the injuries on that Houndour, Cynthia's eyes turned sharp, locking onto Lin Jiu.
"You are in Mimosa Town! Why are you appearing before me, and what's your scheme?"
Cynthia's guard was up, thinking of his cunning nature.
"Nothing, I just wanted to see you!"
Lin Jiu said and dashed into the alley behind him. This residential area was different from the abandoned Ironworks; Cynthia wouldn't recklessly have Garchomp use Draco Meteor.
"Garchomp, let's chase..."
Cynthia was about to follow when she heard Baron Alberto's shout behind her.
"Not good, Darkrai ran away!"
Cynthia's expression changed slightly. Was Red here for Darkrai? This Darkrai had been here for hundreds of years, clearly unrelated to him.
