To get here, Amon had needed to awaken his aether senses. What his aether senses had shown him was a clear path.
The inversed flow of aether he'd originally noticed, as he'd found out, fundamentally altered the way he perceived aether and the world itself.
It had done so multiple times but he'd simply not thought of it. The world where the Pond of Noble Rest was, was actually just an illusion created by the altered interaction between light and aether.
The same thing had happened within the maze of tunnels and he'd simply needed aether sight to see a clear path toward this gate—or so he thought.
As soon as he began to walk toward the path, expecting the walls to fade as they were mere illusions…he ran into them.
They were illusions but at the same time…they weren't.
It was at that moment that he remembered intent and runes had been fused into these illusory walls, making them a hybrid of the real and unreal.
