Capítulo 2: Chapter 2 - Unexpected Encounter
January 5 2012, Portland, Oregan
It is a new year, i am currently in a restaurant in a hotel, in the middle of the city, i rented out the entire restaurant, so i could have morning tea in peace, i was reading today's newspaper and waiting patiently for my order, i heard that this resturaunt had the best vanilla cake, so i decided to give it a taste.
In the past couple months i have become one of the most influential people in this city, and richest. My company has expanded, and we have 3 more branches opened in other cities, i also invested in crypto currency, i bought over 20,000 bitcoin, it was gonna be big in 10 years time so it was a long term investment.
Donny was here with me in this restaurant, while i sat in the middle of the room facing the view from the 3rd storey hotel restaurant, he was walking around with 3 other body guards and inspecting and placing them in position.
He was the boss of a small team of highly trained individuals who are responsible for my safety, i'm like basically unkillable but, well, having a pack that cares for you still feels nice. "Lake, the waiters have been checked out by the Hive, they're clear, i'm gonna go sweep the area with Hector and Gary" Donny said and looked at me, i just nodded at him, he left with two other guards,
leaving me in the restaurant by myself with a few waiters at the door and a 3 guards keeping watch the area. 'Lake' was what my new family called me, it was once my parents packs name, i had taken it for myself as a homage to them since i had also changed my name,
the only people allowed to call me 'Lake' were the members of my pack, to everyone else i was Mr. Langston or Lucas, i also turned a guy by the name of Sam Giovanni, a tech genius, he is now one of my betas, and is in charge of all things technology and media related in my company,
he also has a side job as a hacker, i now fund his side job, he and his team are called 'The Hive' and pretty much help my company out to stay away from any thing that might be considered bad for us.
I have eight betas as of now, i had also turned a two druids that had come to me about 2 months ago, they were twins aparently, and said that they were led to me by some kind of supernatural pull, and that it was their duty to guide and give me counsel, i didn't really buy it, so i bit them both, just to see if they could be of use, and guess what? they both turned into a hybrids, a druid and werewolf hybrids,
completely unexpected, the druids, Katherine Morrell & her sister Elisabeth Morrell, explained to me that since i was an alpha and a hybrid myself if i bit another supernatural creature that was not a shifter, they would become hybrids themselves, keeping both their old abilities and gain the new werewolf ones as well.
Mind blowing shit right, well now here i am, waiting for my food as i read the morning newspaper. Whilst i was engrossed in reading, i smelt a very peculiar scent, it was of smoke and something else, it was sweet yet smogy, footsteps fell as someone walked up from behind me,
i looked at the guard that was infront of me, and saw that he was not walking over or on high alert, which meant whoever was walking towards me, he did not percieve as a threat to my life, a few seconds later,
"I didn't know teenagers like us still read printed newspapers, what are you tryna look like 40 years old for?" a sweet young woman's voice fell and someone took a seat in the chair infront of my table facing me,
"Are you tryna to show how smart & mature you think you look just to impress me?" She added with confidence and arrogance, at this moment i was completely stupified, 'I thought i told the staff not to let anyone disturb me during my meal?' i thought inwardly and slowly lowered the newspaper i was holding up to my face,
"I'll have you know, that i only came here because my aunt forced me too, i have no interest in marrying you and merging our packs wha.....whatsover." her voice trailed off when i put my newspaper and looked at her, i heard her heartbeat rise and her eyes blinked rapidly, her breathing hitched for a few seconds before returning to normal,
"Now that's the first time a girl's gone speechless just looking at me" i teased and looked into her eyes as my eyes glowed crimson red for a second and i grabbed my cup of tea and sipped it slowly, the girl infront of me also flashed her red glowing eyes.
"You can marry yourself for all i care, how is it my concern whether your pack and mine merge?" i asked and looked at her, 'Who the heck is this girl? And why is she talking to me about marriage? Did Grace or Katherine set this up?' i asked myself still tryna grasp what was happening right now,
the girl infront of me looked about my age, she looked asian, maybe Japanese-American or korean, extremely attractive, full pink lips, big round eyes, a symetrical nose, and a slim yet athletic and soft looking milky white body with just the right touch of femininity, talk about a perfect woman and i'd picture her, she put on almost no make-up, she looked like the Korean actress from my past-life named <Go Youn-Jung>, gorgeous,
only problem was her attitude, like who just walks up to a stranger, takes a seat infront of them and starts talking?. "CHehehe by any chance, did we go to school together?" she asked smiling after a chuckle, still looking me dead in the eyes, 'Well she acts like an alpha alright' i thought seeing how she just brushed of my response,
"Highly unlikely" i replied and set my cup back down on the table, "Did we used to go out?" She asked again still smiling, "Oh you'd remember if we ever did" i replied with a smirk, her eyes got colder as she responded and her smile slowly vanished.
"So you're not my school mate, or ex, then where are your manners?" her voice was cold as ice, our eyes locked on each other, she flickered her red eyes, trying to intimidate me, 'I will have to talk with Grace, Kat & Elly to stop them from setting me up with these crazy women' i thought to myself.
"My manners are reserved for someone who atleast has the decency to introduce themselves first before taking a seat at my table" i replied with no emotion in my voice, this seemed to surprise her, she looked like she wasn't expecting me to not be affected by her aura.
"*Scoff*" she scoffed with a smile and got up to leave, she took two steps away before stopping, she looked at her phone for 10 seconds before she turned and came back to sit down in the same spot she got up from, she wore expensive clothing, a white blouse and scarf that complemented her complexion, a simple but extremely nice looking black slim trousers, and black high heels.
"You know, i booked this entire restaurant to have a quiet meal." i said while she placed her phone face-down on the table and looked at me with a dead face, "Sounds good, it'll be nice and awkward" she replied and folded her legs still looking at me, 'She is gorgeous i'll give her that, but this is not my kinda girl' i thought and leaned over the table resting my elbows on it,
"If you want to eat, there are other restaurants" i said, "Then you leave. You obviously know alot of places." She replied almost immediately before closing her eyes and looking to the side dismissively and admiring the view outside the window, 'The fxck?' was all i could think as i looked at her.
5 minutes later after a gruelling back and forth, she ordered for both of us, i ate my brunch and was playing with the breadcrusts i had removed, i made a man with them, "*Scoff* What is he a child?" i heard her say whilst she ate an omlet.
"Hahhehe i was just admiring your youthful spirit" she said with a brilliant fake smile when i looked up at her, "I do look alot younger than my actual age. So tell me, you oviously weren't looking for a meal, why did you insist on staying?" i asked her as i put the butter knife i was holding down.
"I'm going to stay for 30 minutes just to be polite." she answered with a bored look, "Polite to whom?" i asked with a hint of sarcasm, "Your being absolutely rude to me by staying" i told her not mincing my words, "I'm like a mirror, i'm reflecting your rude bahaviour." she answered back as she put down her fork and knife,
i raised an eyebrow at her whilst she rolled her eyes at me and sighed before taking a napkin and wiping her lips with it, "We should make up excuses on why this didn't work out. Why don't you say... shehe that you were intimidated by my beauty?" she said with an arrogant smile.
"How unsightly for a young girl to act like this" i said softly, this seemed to anger her because her smile disappeared and her eyes flickered red for a second, "It's not like i want to be here ok, i'm just fulfilling my aunt's wish, if it wasn't for her and your advisor i would not be here" she said exasperatedly and leaned back into her chair,
"My advisor?" i asked looking skeptical, "I wouldn't dare defy the sacred words of my aunt's wish" she stated with a sigh, "Who the he..Heck are you?" i asked. We hadn't even introduced ourselves and had brunch, "aiya... We should introduce ourselves properly." she replied and rummaged through her hand bag before she pulled out a business card.
'CEO RAIKA AYAME Of Sweet Scent Advertisers' was what it read, it also had a number and company enquiries email, "Raika?" i said when i read her name, and looked at her, she opened the palm of her hand expectantly, so i placed her card in her hand only to have my hand slapped, "Give me yours" She said demandingly.
'This girl...' was all i thought, "Unlike you, I don't just go disclosing my information." i said and leaned back into my chair, "I understand this blind date was forced on you just like me, but we should work together to get through this." she stated, her eyes dug deep into mine, i sighed and reached into my jacket and removed my own card and handed it to her.
"Lucas Langston, suits you" was all she said as she tucked my business card into her bag, i did the same for her card but put it in my wallet instead. "The Vault Gold Traders and Investors, sounds vaguely familiar" she said and had a thoughtful look on her face as if tryna remember where she had heard of my company.
"We are fairly new, but have made a big bang with our deals and investments" i said proudly, "You should read the newspapers more, instead of being out of touch with the ongoings of the world" i said snarkily and lifted the newspaper i was reading before as if to emphasize my point.
"So what's the 'sacred' plan? i asked sarcastically, "Don't tell me you got roped into this without any details?" she asked snarkily, "*Sigh* Blind Date. You must also be a handful, considering they tricked you into coming here." Raika said with a look of pity in her eyes.
"So what exactly is going on here?" i asked straightfowardly, 'What the hell are Grace, Kat & Elly thinking?' i thought to myself, those three betas of mine have been setting me up with random girls since before christmas, i have no idea why though.
"A blind date. We're being set up, my aunt wants me to meet suitable male werewolf alphas, and if i find a suitable partner i am to merge my pack with his and become his luna and bring a new dawn to both our Packs making us unrivaled in the entire the city" she said breathlessly looking bored.
"Are you... looking for a marriage partner?" i asked looking absolutely shocked, 'WHAT THE FUCK! What are those girls thinking, i'm too young to get married, plus the company is still growing i haven't got time to court a werewolf heiress.' i thought unbelievably and looked at the gorgeous girl before me.
"Haha not right now, i'm just checking you out before i make a choice or else someone will be chosen for me" she replied after laughing, "Hahaha so your tryna what? Sort out who the lucky bachelor that's gonna be your mate is? Yeah look, you can count me out of your list of suitors, i don't chase women, and i damn sure am not gonna be on a wait list.... *GRRRR* I'm an alpha. Not some common omega." i replied and my eyes flashed crimson startling her abit.
"Wow, that was hot...." she whispered and quickly covered her mouth with her hands, her eyes widened and she gasped when she realised i heard her, "Sorry to spoil the fun, but we'd like our alpha back now!" a young man's voice broke our awkward silence, causing both Raika and i to turn to the door and see 3 of my bodyguards on the ground and a young teen who had a striking resemblance to Raika, as well as 4 teenage girls standing as a pair at either side of him.
