Capítulo 25: Chapter 25: Giovanni's Wife?
After Heath and Farfetch'd obtained the leek they needed in the Evergreen Forest, they planned to head back to the dormitory. The sky was getting darker, and Heath noticed the diminishing brightness around him.
Looking at the lush Evergreen Forest, Heath was curious if it contained the Viridian Fruit. He remembered hearing about this magical ingredient that might grant one the power of permanence.
However, Heath wasn't a botanist in this world. Seeing various familiar and unfamiliar fruits around him, he felt a bit troubled.
"Come to think of it, the ingredient identification device I got earlier is quite useful. It's just that the once-a-day identification limit is too restrictive. I wonder if the cooldown time could be shortened in the future," Heath thought, appreciating the usefulness of the identification glasses.
As Heath was about to leave the Evergreen Forest, he didn't spot Zorua. The little one was probably still wary and didn't plan to show itself.
Heath didn't mind. After all, such matters couldn't be rushed. He planned to patiently build a relationship with Zorua, much like feeding a stray cat—over time, the cat would naturally become friendly.
"But aren't foxes part of the canine family?" Heath mused. His knowledge of biology was almost forgotten, leaving only fragmented bits.
Upon seeing Heath, Sister Maple let out a sigh of relief. However, she then sternly told Heath to take Farfetch'd back. Heath didn't mind; Sister Maple was always like this. If she ever stopped nagging and instead encouraged him with a smile, that would be unusual.
"Heath, are you still open for business?" Heath soon ran into a familiar man, Giovanni, shortly after returning to Viridian City.
Giovanni was accompanied by another woman, a beautiful lady with black hair who had an aloof demeanor. She radiated an aura of keeping people at a distance. Heath looked at her curiously—could she be Giovanni's wife?
"Not right now, but if you want to eat, Mr. Giovanni, I can cook for you at your place," Heath said, scratching his head in embarrassment. The ice-cold beauty's expression remained unchanged, not even glancing at Heath.
"Really? That would be great. I've invited you before, but you never came," Giovanni said with a pleased expression, patting Heath's shoulder like an elder with a junior.
Heath smiled. When he first met Giovanni, he had been too nervous to accept the invitation, fearing his identity as a transmigrator had been discovered. Fortunately, it turned out to be a misunderstanding.
Seeing Giovanni's joyful expression, the ice-cold beauty glanced at Heath, curious why such an ordinary person could elicit such a strong reaction from Giovanni.
"Ah, I forgot to introduce you. This is Sabrina, the new Gym Leader of Saffron City. She's here to exchange Gym Leader training experiences with me. Don't let her cold demeanor fool you; she's actually a good person," Giovanni explained with a smile.
Heath was taken aback but then smiled harmlessly and followed Giovanni to his home.
Heath was surprised to learn that the beautiful girl beside Giovanni was Sabrina, the Saffron City Gym Leader. If so, she was likely one of Team Rocket's officers, and Lt. Surge might be a member as well.
Thinking about the Indigo League, Heath felt it was in a sorry state. Out of the eight Gym Leaders, four were undercover agents. How could they possibly compete?
Heath even suspected that the league had discovered Giovanni's identity as the head of Team Rocket but couldn't act against him due to his influence. They probably had to gather evidence slowly before finally bringing him down.
Giovanni's house was behind the Viridian City Gym, a small detached house resembling a villa. When Heath followed Giovanni inside, he saw an incredibly luxurious kitchen.
Various kitchen utensils and seasonings were neatly arranged, and Heath saw many ingredients he didn't recognize. He was genuinely surprised by the well-stocked kitchen.
Did Giovanni prepare it knowing he was coming, or did Giovanni have a hobby of cooking in his spare time?
"As the Viridian City Gym Leader, cooking is a hobby of mine. But your culinary skills are far superior to mine, Heath. Feel free to use any ingredients you need. Thanks for your help," Giovanni said with a smile before heading to the living room with Sabrina.
Heath had no intention of eavesdropping. He just wanted to cook honestly. Giovanni was formidable, and with Sabrina, a psychic, around, eavesdropping would be suicide.
"These ingredients... I didn't expect Mr. Giovanni to have such a side," Heath thought, finding it peculiar. The kitchen was spotless and orderly, indicating that the owner frequently cooked.
It was hard to imagine that the head of Team Rocket had such a side. Perhaps it was the so-called "well-dressed brute"? Heath realized his thinking was too narrow—who said villains couldn't have hobbies?
Even knowing Giovanni was the head of Team Rocket, from an ordinary person's perspective, Giovanni seemed like an extraordinary individual. He often volunteered and donated to orphanages and nursing homes in Viridian City.
With no media coverage, it was no wonder the citizens had no complaints when the Viridian Gym closed for a long time after Giovanni's departure. To them, Giovanni was a good man.
"Enough thinking. Let's see these ingredients," Heath shook his head and checked the fridge and pantry. Soon, he decided what to cook.
"Farfetch'd! Come out and help me," Heath called out.
