Capítulo 16: Preparation for War
The news of Henry's awakening quickly spread throughout the palace. Edward went to check on him and ask about the details of his kidnapping.
"Knock... Knock..." Edward entered quietly to find both Henry and Catherine smiling at him.
"Come here, Father," Henry said warmly, motioning to the bed for Edward to sit.
"Alright," Edward said gently and sat beside them.
"We haven't gathered as a family in a long time," Catherine said with evident happiness.
"That's true..." Edward said sadly, feeling guilty for not having much time to spend with his family. He suddenly took hold of Henry and Catherine's shoulders and pulled them into a hug. "Thank God we are together again." Both felt Edward's warmth and returned his embrace.
After a few moments, he let them go. Henry then spoke, "But I remember falling at the border. Who brought me to the palace?"
"It was Celesia and Felix. They left the palace yesterday and found you at the border," Edward said.
"They are resting in their rooms now as they didn't sleep all night," added Catherine kindly. "You should go see them later."
"Yes, that's true," Henry said gratefully.
Edward interrupted suddenly, "But first, tell me what happened to you on the day of the incident."
"Well... as we were traveling, I noticed some guards disappearing gradually. I asked the driver to stop to check on them, and before I could get out of the carriage, shadows attacked me and knocked me out. When I woke up, I found myself in a dark room in the basement of the royal palace of the Shadow Kingdom. The king was standing in front of me, and he struck me for reasons I didn't know... In addition, I met his wife. Her words made me very anxious," Henry recounted the details of the incident, including what Alan did to him. Edward felt angry while Catherine's face was marked by sorrow.
Edward took Henry's hand seriously and said, "I'm glad you're back safe... but now we must prepare for war as it has already begun."
Hearing his father's words, Henry felt anxious but decided to face the matter bravely.
"I will be ready, Father. I will do everything I can to protect the empire," Henry said firmly.
"I know you will, my son," Edward replied with pride. "We will hold an emergency meeting with the Senate and generals to coordinate plans and strategies."
"I will be present, and we must also ensure the protection of Celesia and Felix, as they may become targets in this war," Henry added.
"Of course, I will arrange special protection for them," Edward responded. "Now, I will go prepare everything. Take care of yourselves."
Edward quickly left the room, heading to the meeting hall, while Catherine and Henry continued to talk.
"Do you think the war will be long?" Catherine asked worriedly.
"I don't know, Mother, but we must be ready for anything," Henry replied. "We must stay united as a family and support each other."
"Yes, we are always together in good times and bad," Catherine said with a warm smile.
Meanwhile, Celesia and Felix were resting in their rooms after a long night of exhaustion and worry. Celesia woke up first and felt relieved when she learned that Henry had awakened. She decided to go see him and make sure he was okay. She gently knocked on his door, and when she heard Henry invite her in, she opened the door and entered.
"Henry! I'm so glad you're okay!" Celesia said as she approached him.
"Celesia! Thank you for everything you did, I can't express my gratitude," Henry said as he hugged her gently.
"It was the least I could do. We are family and must support each other," Celesia replied.
"That's right. But now we face a bigger challenge. We must be ready for war," Henry said seriously.
"I'll be ready for anything," Celesia said confidently.
"And I as well," added Felix, entering the room after waking up and hearing the conversation. "We won't let anything happen to the empire."
In the afternoon, a meeting was held with the most important nobles and generals, except for the Duke of the East, who was engaged in battle with the enemy army.
"I received messages from the East indicating that the situation is currently under control. As long as the Shadow Knights rely on darkness in their attacks, the Light Knights currently have the upper hand," Edward began. The discussions continued for a long time until they reached an agreement: "We will leave the matter to the eastern duchy for now, and if the enemy shows its full strength, the special delegation composed of the Imperial Knights' commander, Archduke Leonhard Ryoger, the deputy commander of the knights, Felix Ryoger, Crown Prince Henry Alexandrine, and finally Princess Celesia Ryoger will be dispatched. Additionally, the Western Twins Mirabella and Carlos Silvia will provide support along with the Imperial Guard army." With this, the meeting concluded.
