Sabrina's face was set in a mild scowl as she stood by the large window, her arms folded tightly across her chest. Her gaze drifted over the garden outside, where Alex and her grandmother were busy amongst the flowerbeds, sharing what seemed to be an effortless rapport.
Her brow furrowed deeper as she watched them interact. Less than twenty-four hours ago, they had been strangers, but now they appeared as though they had known each other for years, laughing together over trivial things like gardenias and begonias.
They were discussing flowers and all sorts of gardening nonsense that she had no interest in. She barely contained an eye-roll when she noticed her grandmother smiling at Alex's joke, her laughter ringing out freely.
