"Your grandmother is lovely," Alex said as Sabrina led him into her bedroom.
"You didn't tell me you garden or know her book. Or did you lie about that?" She asked, wondering if he had said that to impress her grandmother the same way Chloe had tried to do.
"You didn't tell me you wanted to know everything about me. Shall I tell you about all my interests and hobbies?" He asked sweetly, and she scowled at him.
"There's only one bed," she said with a casual shrug, her tone bordering on indifference. "You can either join me on it, or you can sleep on the couch if you're uncomfortable."
Alex's eyes met hers, unwavering. "There's no reason for me to be uncomfortable. Or to sleep on the couch," he replied, his tone firm, a faint edge of challenge in his voice as he set his bag down beside the dresser.
"Good for you," she said, and he smiled at her before shifting his attention away from her to scan the room with a discerning gaze.
