By the time Hunter arrived in his office and settled down behind his desk, the email from Mark was already waiting in his inbox.
The email was the first thing Hunter attended to as he settled into his chair, the leather creaking softly with his movement.
As the list of names populated his screen, he scrolled through them methodically, his sharp gaze searching for one name in particular— Conner.
When he didn't find Conner's name on it, he narrowed his eyes. So, Conner hadn't been one of her targets, Hunter mused as a frown etched itself on his face.
Was Conner the reason she kept her walls so high? Had he hurt her? Or was it something else?
Hunter snorted as he scrutinized the list further. The amounts each family had paid were significant, but not impressive.
A small, humorless smile tugged at the corner of his lips. He could see why she thought a hundred million was a worthy price for him. The thought was both amusing and irritating.
