Capítulo 71: Chapter 71: My Iron Guard Can't Be This Cute

**Iron Guard Restricted Zone—**

In reality, it was a large, abandoned town.

Collapsed streets, fallen houses, piles of debris, a pervasive sense of desolation.

Aside from these, there were numerous cannons, layers of sandbag fortifications, various defense facilities, and piles of weapons and ammunition.

And, of course, the fierce Iron Guards.

"Whoa… The Iron Guards here are much scarier than the ones in the city…" March 7th observed from a distance.

Silverwolf shrugged, "Makes sense. This is the front line against the Rift creatures. Everyone here is fighting with their lives on the line."

"So, Silverwolf, do you have any good ideas?" Gu Tang asked.

"Well… let me take a closer look first." Silverwolf looked at the gate of the Iron Guard Restricted Zone.

A fully armed Iron Guard in heavy armor stood imposingly at the gate.

Judging by his flawless stance, not even a snow mouse could sneak in.

Stelle nodded, "Hmm… He looks pretty strong. This one could be a pre-meal snack."

March 7th: "Patience, Stelle. If everything goes well, we might retrieve the Stellaron without a fight."

Dan Heng: "It's not that I'm as battle-hungry as Stelle, but even I think it's unlikely."

"Tch, it's Dunn. This is troublesome…" Silverwolf frowned.

"Is he an acquaintance of yours?" Gu Tang asked.

Silverwolf nodded, "Yes, he was the star keyboardist in my band. Now he's a captain in the Iron Guard."

March 7th was puzzled, "Isn't it beneficial that he's an acquaintance?"

"No, because he knows me well, he'd see through any lies I tell immediately." Silverwolf sighed, "I don't have many friends, but those I do have know me very well."

"I see… that does complicate things…" Dan Heng frowned.

They had hoped Silverwolf could provide cover for them to sneak in, but this early obstacle had thrown a wrench in their plans.

For a moment, everyone fell silent, each thinking of possible solutions.

Only Stelle, with an innocent expression, spoke up, "Since he was a keyboardist… can't we just persuade him with the spirit of rock?"

"Stelle, you're a genius, a real genius." Gu Tang patted Stelle's shoulder.

"You've got talent. Next time, come perform with me." Silverwolf patted Stelle's other shoulder.

"Heh heh…" Stelle proudly put her hands on her hips.

March 7th looked at Stelle with a complicated expression, "Your thinking is becoming more and more like Gu Tang's, Stelle…"

Dan Heng: "Don't worry, March. You'll be like this someday too."

---

"Phew… Captain Dunn, it's really cold today." An Iron Guard beside Dunn said.

Dunn nodded, "Indeed, but we can't slack off while on duty."

"By the way, why hasn't Commander Gepard returned yet? It's been a while." The Iron Guard continued.

"Hmm… I heard he was going to visit his sister Silverwolf after handling his duties. It's rare for family to meet, so it's normal for him to take some extra time." Dunn said.

The Iron Guard teased, "Speaking of Silverwolf, Captain, when are you going to confess?"

"W-W-What confession!? I don't understand what you're talking about! What proof do you have that I like Silverwolf!" The typically stern Iron Guard was flustered.

He sounded like a tsundere heroine from a romantic comedy.

"Come on, Captain, it's obvious. Honestly, the era of tsundere is over. Now it's all about direct attacks. Being a tsundere will only leave you with regrets." The Iron Guard continued.

"Hmph! I have a duty to protect the people. I don't have time for such things." Dunn was still stubborn.

Even the Preservation Aeon would want to use his stubbornness to build a wall.

At this moment, faint music started playing.

"Huh, where's that music coming from?" The Iron Guard looked around in confusion.

Dunn listened closely, "This music style… It's Silverwolf! Why is she performing in such a remote place?"

"Who knows? Silverwolf's thoughts are always unpredictable." The Iron Guard replied nonchalantly.

"Go check it out. If there's nothing, send her back to the city. This area might have wandering Rift creatures. It's too dangerous." Dunn ordered.

The Iron Guard looked at Dunn in surprise, "Captain!? You're not going yourself?"

Then, he realized, looking Dunn up and down, "Oh, right. You haven't bathed in two days…"

"Just go already!" Dunn kicked the Iron Guard's butt, frustrated.

"Understood! I'm going! I'm going!" The Iron Guard turned and walked towards the music.

However, he hadn't gone far.

Thud!

Dunn knocked him out with a punch.

The Iron Guard's last thought before losing consciousness was, "Captain Dunn is so petty…"

His body hit the ground.

"Phew…" Dunn let out a long breath.

This was a lot of pressure for him too.

He looked around, then dragged the Iron Guard's body to a hidden corner.

"Sorry, brother. I'll put an extra blanket on you. Sleep well." Dunn covered him with a warm blanket and lit some lavender-scented incense.

Then, he returned to his post, pretending nothing had happened.

"Captain Dunn?"

A voice from behind made Dunn's body stiffen.

He turned around rigidly to see another Iron Guard.

"Why are you here?" Dunn felt his voice was a bit stiff.

The Iron Guard looked at Dunn in confusion, "It's my turn to take over. Captain, it's time for my shift."

"Oh… oh… right, my memory…" Dunn was desperately thinking of a solution.

So, he said to the Iron Guard, "Today… you don't need to be on duty. I'll take over for you. You go rest."

The Iron Guard was so shocked he almost dropped his weapon.

"Captain, does this mean… I'm going to die?" He asked Dunn with a trembling voice.

"No, what are you thinking?" Dunn was amused and exasperated.

The Iron Guard looked at Dunn in surprise, "Does it mean you're going to die?!"

"Damn it! Why won't you guys accept my goodwill!" Dunn grumbled, frustrated.

Honestly, this sounded like a tsundere heroine's line.

"Captain, you seem off today. Is something wrong?" The Iron Guard asked worriedly.

Sigh, no choice.

Dunn sighed inwardly.

"Ah! Commander Gepard, you're back already!" Dunn saluted behind the Iron Guard.

"What! Commander Gepard!" The Iron Guard turned to salute.

Naturally, there was nothing but air.

Then, he felt a pain in his head and lost consciousness.

"Sorry, brother… Hey ho… hey ho…"

Dunn dragged the Iron Guard's body to where the other was hidden.

Then, he tucked both of them into the same blanket.

When they woke up, it was already evening.

They crawled out from under the blanket under the expressionless gazes of countless Iron Guards.
