"See, I told you it would work," Kane said, excitement in his voice.
"How did you do that?" Aurora asked, still in shock as she let go of his hand and stepped back.
"These are the powers you took from me, and now they're back," Kane replied. "As per our agreement, I'll leave you to your boring life."
He turned to walk towards the door atop the skyscraper.
"Hey, you can't just leave me up here!" Aurora shouted.
"Oh, I suppose I should take you back," Kane said, turning back toward her.
He extended his arm around her shoulder.
"Do you really have to touch me?" Aurora asked.
"We're about to travel through space and time, and you're concerned about that? Humans are fascinating creatures," Kane replied.
"Let's just get this over with," Aurora said, her impatience clear.
"Okay, let's go," Kane said.
A minute passed, and Aurora asked, "What's wrong? Is your magic trick not working anymore?"
