Don't be misled by the awe-inspiring power Madara displayed after being reincarnated during the Fourth Ninja War. In the Warring States Period, defeating even one hundred enemies was difficult, let alone a thousand. The primary reason for this is the quality difference between ninjas from later periods and those of the Warring States.
In later generations, there were many weaker, less skilled ninjas. However, in the Warring States Period, every ninja who survived on the battlefield had honed their skills under the constant threat of death. As a result, the average skill level of Warring States ninjas was much higher than that of their future counterparts.
With the Two-Tails summoned to his side, Izuna was confident that he could fight against hundreds or even thousands of ninjas in the future Fourth Ninja War, even without using his Mangekyō Sharingan. But here, facing 150 Senju, he knew summoning the Two-Tails was necessary to clear them out quickly.
In the Warring States Period, even if a ninja's face was burned and their arms broken, they would still push forward with one final attack. Every battle wasn't just for personal survival, but for the safety of their families at home.
Despite their resilience, Izuna showed no mercy. None of the 150 Senju were allowed to escape.
"Roar!!!"
The long, flame-wrapped tail of the Two-Tails swept across the stronghold like a giant broom. Those who had only been lightly injured were lucky, but others, already gravely wounded, were thrown into the air by the beast's tail. The unfortunate victims hit the ground with a sickening "splat," turning into mangled heaps of flesh.
"Water Release: Vortex Scraper!" came a shout from the Senju forces.
It was no surprise that few clans in the Land of Fire could rival the Senju when it came to water-style jutsu. The Two-Tails, born with an affinity for fire, found it quite uncomfortable to battle against such techniques. A Senju ninja spat out a massive wave of water, forming a spiraling vortex that grew larger as it surged toward Matatabi, soon tall enough to reach her chin.
But Matatabi's body ignited with green flames, the heat so intense that the flames appeared like meteorites crashing through the incoming water.
The green-flamed meteor punched through the waves, ripping through the bodies of a dozen Senju ninjas. Bang! But a second later, the figures burst into wooden logs, revealing the deceptive use of a substitution jutsu.
"Um?!" Matatabi was taken aback.
Standing atop her head, Izuna smirked. "Water Release was only a distraction. They've hidden themselves."
Mid-sentence, Izuna jumped down from Matatabi, a Rasengan forming in his hand. With the boost of senjutsu, it expanded rapidly into a massive, ten-meter-wide Rasengan.
"Now!"
He slammed the Rasengan into the ground, ten meters ahead of Matatabi, creating a devastating impact.
Boom!
The Super Great Ball Rasengan tore through the earth, ripping the hidden Senju ninjas from their hiding spots. The jutsu mercilessly shredded their bodies, turning them into pieces of mangled flesh.
As the Super Rasengan dissipated, only corpses remained scattered across the battlefield. Izuna landed in front of the Two-Tails, turning his back to the massive beast.
"This is how ninjas fight," Izuna said calmly. "Don't look at them with the simple mindset of a tailed beast."
Matatabi raised an eyebrow, and then swiftly smacked two Senju ninjas attempting a sneak attack.
"They're still alive?" Izuna remarked as he glanced at the survivors. Raising his right hand, his index and middle fingers extended. "Fire Release: Fire Dragon Jutsu!"
Whoosh!!
A massive fire dragon burst forth, engulfing the airborne Senju ninjas. The smell of burning flesh filled the air as their bodies were reduced to charred remains.
"Senju kawaragi killed over a hundred of my Uchiha in a sneak attack. Today, I, Uchiha Izuna, will return the favor by killing over a hundred of his."
Izuna smirked as he entered a tent that had only partially collapsed. After rummaging through it, he found letters exchanged between Senju Takeshi and Senju kawaragi about the war's progress. However, with Takeshi now dead, kawaragi had likely adjusted his strategy, making these documents worthless.
When Izuna stepped out of the tent, Mito rushed toward him, her face filled with anxiety. "A lot of Senju forces are headed this way!"
Izuna was startled but quickly understood. "It's no surprise. After all, the Two-Tails makes quite a scene when fighting."
He glanced at Matatabi. "Thanks for your help. I'll call on you again if I need it."
"I prefer a quiet life," Matatabi replied coolly. "Are there any quiet places around here?"
Izuna suddenly remembered that Matatabi, unlike creatures like Manda or Gamabunta, didn't have access to her own summoning world. Once summoned, she couldn't return without being manually dismissed.
"Come back with me for now," Izuna suggested, turning to Mito with a smile. "Thanks for everything, Mito."
Mito's expression was tinged with sadness, and she turned her gaze away without responding.
At the Uchiha camp's gates, a guard ninja squinted into the distance, activating his Sharingan as he sensed a massive chakra signature approaching.
After a few moments, he spotted a blazing figure in the distance—a massive, flame-covered creature running toward the camp.
"What?!"
Panicked, the guard quickly sounded the alarm bell.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The loud, ringing bell echoed throughout the camp, rousing the sleeping Uchiha clan members from their tents.
Uchiha Shinchihi and Uchiha Akechi were the first to rush to the main gate. "What's going on?" they asked urgently, their faces still etched with concern until Izuna returned safely.
"Shinichi-sama, Akechi-sama, look!" The guard pointed toward the horizon.
The group stared in shock as they saw a giant, flame-covered cat approaching, its body towering as large as a hill.
"Prepare for battle!" Shinchihi shouted, though his heart was filled with dread.
"Damn it, one wave after another... If things keep going like this, we won't survive long!" he cursed internally.
Hundreds of Uchiha quickly gathered at the gate, forming seals and preparing to release ninjutsu.
"Wait! It's me!" Izuna's voice rang out, transmitted through chakra, freezing the Uchiha in place.
"Hold your fire!" Akechi shouted, raising his hand to stop the ninjas from unleashing their jutsu.
Matatabi, the great flaming cat, slowed its pace, casually strolling toward the camp gate.
After Izuna and Mito landed on the ground, Matatabi leaped over the mountains and disappeared into the rugged valley. Shinchihi and Akechi stood frozen, their expressions filled with disbelief.
