Capítulo 70: Is this vault worth it?

Joe paused, deep in thought.

"Multiplying XP based on intelligence? That doesn't sound so bad," he mused.

[Correct], confirmed Sime.

[However, there's a significant limitation. When you attempt to use the XP accumulated in the vault, you won't be able to withdraw more than 10% of the total value at a time. Additionally, there's a minimum 'rent' of 10 XP per day to keep the vault active.]

Joe blinked, incredulous.

"Wait, wait. So, you're telling me that all the XP I earn in the next 10 hours will be locked in this vault? And then I can only withdraw up to 10% of the total? And, on top of that, I have to pay 10 XP a day just to keep this ability running?"

[That is correct], replied Sime, unfazed.

"What a useless ability!" Joe exclaimed, frustrated. "How is this supposed to help me? I'll end up with most of my XP trapped in the vault, able to use only a small portion, and have to pay a daily fee? It makes no sense!"

The system, however, remained unshaken.

[Although the Restrictive and Multiplier x10 Vault has limitations, it's designed to benefit you in situations where your intelligence level allows for a significant multiplication of your XP. Over time, the accumulated and multiplied amount could far exceed the value lost in rent and limited withdrawals.]

Joe sighed.

"Again, this feels more like a trap than a reward. Let's see later how it works in practice."

He activated the vault, watching as the XP he earned from the ants and dwarves began to be stored. Over the next 10 hours, he observed the XP numbers rising but could do nothing but watch.

After the set time, Joe decided to test the system and see how much XP he could withdraw.

"Sime, how much have I accumulated so far?"

"[You have accumulated 2,852 XP from standard ants and 3,640 XP from diggers, for a total of 6,492 XP. With the Restrictive Vault active, you may withdraw 2.15% of this value, or 139.5 XP]," the system reported.

Joe shook his head, irritated.

"Fine, withdraw those 139.5 XP then."

He waited a few seconds for the system to process the request.

"[Withdrawal completed. 139.5 XP has been transferred to your usable area]," said Sime.

"That's not enough. I need more XP to level up my ants," Joe complained. "Sime, what happens if I need to withdraw more XP quickly?"

[The Restrictive and Multiplier x10 Vault does not allow additional withdrawals beyond 10% of the accumulated value at a time]," the system explained, indifferent to Joe's irritated tone. "[If you want more XP, you'll need to wait or accumulate more over the next retention cycles.]

"But why are you lying to me? You said I could withdraw up to 10% of the vault, yet 139.5 XP isn't 10% of 6,492 XP anywhere!"

"[There is a significant limitation. When you attempt to use the XP accumulated in the vault, you can withdraw up to 10% of the total value at a time]," Sime repeated, clarifying that it had specified everything Joe needed to know about his new ability.

"You tricked me into this, Sime."

[It's designed to benefit you in situations where your intelligence level allows for a significant multiplication of your XP], the system reiterated.

Joe felt his frustration growing.

"You sneaky piece of junk, you led me into this without explaining these annoying details! So, I'm stuck with these small withdrawals while paying a constant XP rent? This isn't advantageous for me right now!"

"[This is the nature of the Restrictive and Multiplier x10 Vault]," said Sime.

[Although its limitations may seem frustrating at first, this ability is intended to yield great rewards in the long run, as long as the multiplication based on your intelligence is sufficiently high. Your current intelligence level is 2.15%. Therefore, the current multiplier for your XP is 2.15 times the base value. If you deposit all your XP today and only withdraw it the next day, the gain is still greater.]

"But will I have compounding interest?"

(O¬_¬O) (O¬_¬O) The system looking at him

Joe huffed.

"Just answer already! And how much do I need to increase my intelligence to make this worthwhile?"

"At an intelligence level of 5%, the multiplier will start generating substantial gains. Upon reaching the maximum limit of 10%, this ability could become extremely lucrative."

"So, basically, I need to focus on increasing my intelligence to make this ability truly work?" Joe asked, already envisioning the work ahead.

[Exactly], Sime confirmed. [The higher your intelligence level, the greater the long-term benefits will be.]

Joe crossed his arms, watching the ants in the distance. He knew the Restrictive Vault wasn't an ability he could simply ignore, but the fact that he was locked into this cycle of accumulating XP and could only withdraw small portions at a time bothered him deeply.

"I really expected something more useful," he said, sighing. "But it looks like I'll have to work on my intelligence to turn this ability into something valuable."

[That's the most logical choice], replied Sime, closing the conversation with its monotonous and predictable voice.

Joe knew his work to increase his intelligence was only beginning. Meanwhile, the immense XP being accumulated in the vault—from both the digging ants and the other ants—would be his ammunition against the powerful, who, in one way or another, would yield to what only he could offer.

… And with this, they would gladly obey his commands, allowing, by right, his dwarf friends to also reach noble status so that together they could fight the dirty, corrupt side of the kingdom of Tallindorie and find his father.
