In the room, Christie nestled close to Ron, cautiously asking,
"Why are you suddenly telling me all this? Did my sister say something to you?"
"Your sister?" Ron's expression turned into a disdainful smile as he heard the question.
"She's not your sister, and she's definitely not worthy of that title. She's nothing but a self-righteous, cold-blooded snake!"
"Why would you say that about her? Even though I don't like her, I still secretly admire her! I've always dreamed of becoming someone like her."
"Forget it!" Ron sighed and comforted her, "You are unique. Why would you want to be like anyone else, especially someone as two-faced as your sister?"
"For me, she's a disaster. In every way—materially, spiritually. Enough about her. Just thinking about her makes me sick!"
"Alright!" Christie smiled, then suddenly asked, "By the way, what's that hard thing in your pocket?"
Ron suddenly remembered something he had forgotten. He reached into his coat and took out a wooden box containing the Qi Force Slate.
"Qi Force Slate!" Christie gasped when she saw the box.
"Why are you so surprised?" Ron asked curiously. "This is something most people haven't seen; you should have come across it before."
"No, no!" Christie quickly grabbed the wooden box and examined the carvings on it carefully.
"Of course, I've seen it before. But my family has many different types of Qi Force Slates. Usually, the ones given to knights are of other varieties."
"But this box seems to contain our family's unique Sky-Splitting Giant Bear Qi Force Slate. That's very unusual!"
"Let's open it and see!" Ron laughed. "The box may look similar, but that doesn't mean the contents are genuine."
Christie quickly opened the box, revealing a stone the size of an adult's palm. It was rectangular, gray, with a black giant bear engraved on it, occasionally flashing with a silver glow.
"Yes, it's the Qi Force Slate that stores the frequency of the Sky-Splitting Giant Bear."
Christie confirmed, "Our family hasn't given this kind of slate to a knight in a long time. The last time was more than ten years ago when my cousin, the genius Leo Moore, used it. But he died, as you know."
"I didn't expect the family to bring out this Qi Force Slate again for you. It seems they value you quite highly."
"Who knows?" Ron said. "Maybe they just see me as an experiment, right?"
"That's still an honor, isn't it?" Christie said, handing the slate to Ron.
"Go ahead, my fiancé! I hope you succeed and soar to new heights!"
Ron forced a smile and took the slate. The moment his fingers touched the stone, he felt an immense force pulling his soul into an unknown place.
When he opened his eyes again, the sky and earth were completely different. As far as he could see, the landscape was filled with smoke, shattered land, erupting volcanoes, and raging tsunamis...
Amidst this apocalyptic scene, a giant bear, the size of a small mountain and covered in black fur, was running wildly through the hellish landscape, occasionally letting out a deafening roar that shook the heavens.
Then, "thump-thump-thump..." A powerful, rhythmic heartbeat suddenly echoed through the world. It was clearly the bear's heartbeat.
The bear noticed Ron, inviting him to join its fight against this terrifying world.
Ron felt the invitation and the bear's unyielding determination. His heart began to beat in sync with the bear's rhythm...
"Thump... thump..."
Without hesitation, he joined the bear, fighting alongside it against this horrific world. They battled countless terrifying monsters, resisted disasters so terrifying they defied description, and met many allies along the way—giant beasts like the bear, elves, dwarves, humans, even orcs.
One year, two years, three years, ten years, a hundred years... Ron fought side by side with the bear, overcoming one powerful enemy after another, finally establishing a stronghold in this dreadful world and building an unparalleled domain.
But he suddenly realized he was tired—so tired that he couldn't even lift his sword.
And he didn't know what to do next because no enemies dared to approach his territory anymore.
At that moment, he heard someone calling his name.
"Ron!"
"Ron?" Christie gently shook Ron's shoulder, calling his name.
Hearing Christie's voice, Ron gradually awoke from the illusion and found himself back in that familiar yet strange room.
Seeing Ron awake, Christie was overjoyed and threw herself into his arms.
"Thank goodness! Ron, you're finally awake. It was so scary just now. Red light kept flashing from your body, and your sword flew into your hand on its own. It was so eerie!"
Ron shook his head vigorously to clear his mind.
"How long was I in that state?"
"About an hour. Ron, have you awakened your Qi Force?" Christie asked, still a bit shaken but with a hint of joy.
"Only an hour? It felt like I spent hundreds of years there!"
Ron let out a heavy sigh as the centuries of memories began to recede like a tide, leaving only the essence he had mastered.
As his mind cleared, he looked at Christie and smiled, "I think I've mastered Qi Force, and fully awakened it at that!"
"Really?" Christie's joy was boundless.
"Yeah," Ron nodded. "Thanks to you, otherwise, I might still be trapped in that illusion, unable to escape!"
"Whew!" Christie patted her chest, "You seemed to be getting weaker and weaker, and your expression was so pained. I had to wake you up."
"I was worried that waking you might disrupt something. Thank goodness! I didn't mess things up!"
"Thank you! You saved me!" Ron expressed his sincere gratitude, as he had felt himself nearing the breaking point earlier.
Awakening Qi Force was indeed a good thing, but Ron didn't want others to know, so he cautioned Christie, "However, please don't tell anyone about my awakening for now."
"Why?" Christie asked curiously.
"Awakening Qi Force means stepping into the extraordinary. It's a symbol of status and power. You even have the strength now to refuse to go to that territory."
"Haha!" Ron laughed after hearing this. "How do you know I don't want to go to that territory?"
"Anyone would avoid it," Christie said, somewhat irritated. "I didn't want to deceive you, but I had no choice."
"No, no. You didn't deceive me. You didn't tell me everything because there are many things you don't know. I knew from the beginning that it was dangerous there, but I didn't realize it was even more dangerous than I imagined."
"But while I didn't want to go before, now I do."
Ron reassured Christie, hoping she wouldn't blame herself.
Christie widened her eyes in surprise, "Are you crazy? As far as I know, three knights, including my cousin, have died there. Why would you want to go somewhere so dangerous?"
"I'm not crazy!" Ron said firmly.
"They died, but that doesn't mean I will. And honestly, if I don't go, I'll die here just the same because my personal strength isn't that great. Since that's the case, I might as well go there and take a gamble."
"As long as I hold the territory for three years and survive, I'll earn a domain of my own. It's a good deal, no matter how you look at it."
"But I still hope you'll come with me. Of course, it's up to you. I won't force you."
"I will!" Christie responded without hesitation.
"But I'm worried the family won't agree. You might not know my standing within the family, but to them, I'm an important bargaining chip. If…"
"Don't worry about that!" Ron interrupted Christie's concern.
"I only care about your wishes; I'm not interested in anyone else's opinions."
"If they don't agree, I have ways to make them. So, please tell me, will you come with me to endure hardship? To build a home of our own?"
"I will!" Christie said resolutely, her eyes brimming with tears.
Ron smiled contentedly. Just as he stood up to wipe away her tears, an uninvited guest suddenly burst into their room without knocking.
