Capítulo 4: Swallow it Whole
The Red Line.
This unique geographical feature is as renowned as the Calm Belt.
Its height of over ten thousand meters and the Calm Belt divide the pirate world into four separate seas.
"No matter when I see the Red Line, it's always so awe-inspiring!"
The colossal red rock wall that stretches beyond sight and the ten-thousand-meter height reaching into the clouds.
This is the world's pinnacle, the massive unique geography that splits the world in two.
The closer the pirate ship got to the Red Line, the more its enormity was felt.
The wind fiercely blew the pirate flag.
As Roy and his crew rapidly approached Reverse Mountain, the undersea currents also grew more violent.
Standing at the bow of the pirate ship, Roy gazed at the increasingly close red rock in the night.
Suddenly, an orange-yellow light appeared on the dark sea.
"It's the lighthouse of Reverse Mountain, sir, we're almost at the Twin Capes."
Edwards was understandably excited because Roy and Blueno had promised that if they delivered them to Reverse Mountain, they would spare Edwards and his crew.
Roy didn't pay much attention to the excitement of the waiter-like Edwards beside him.
Looking at the approaching lighthouse.
"Echo Map!"
All objects within a ten-kilometer radius reflected back to Roy's ears as sound, forming a map.
What caught Roy's attention most was the giant whale hidden under the seawater and the old man resting in the lighthouse.
The power of sound was a key weapon for Roy in his treasure hunt.
After all, the Twin Capes were vast, and if they relied solely on Bruno's Devil Fruit ability to search bit by bit, who knew how long it would take to find the treasure.
But with sound reflection, it was different.
Based on the map's location, Roy could easily locate the treasure's site.
The sudden nighttime approach of the pirate ship naturally caught the old man's attention at the lighthouse.
After all, at this outlet connecting the Grand Line with the four seas, ships usually only exited from here. No pirate ship had ever voluntarily arrived here from the outside.
"How unusual! A ship coming at this hour. But bad luck for them, Laboon is acting up again."
The old man with a feather in his hat pitifully glanced at the approaching pirate ship.
He turned and closed the window, as if he didn't want to witness the impending carnage.
Roar!
The weak whale roar from the seabed sent a shiver down Blueno's spine.
With Roy's hand on his shoulder signaling to depart.
A pitch-black space door suddenly appeared before everyone, and just as Roy and Blueno were about to step through.
"Hey, you're called Edwards, right? For your enthusiastic service on this journey, here's a life-saving tip: head for that lighthouse if you want to survive."
With that, Roy and Blueno stepped into the space door.
Edwards and his crew were obviously baffled by Roy's final words.
The enormous whale leaping up behind them was of little concern to Roy and Blueno, as they were busy looking at the treasure map in their hand.
When Roy and Blueno reappeared, they were already midway up a cliff at the waterfall steps of the Twin Capes.
Boom!
An arm covered in Armament Haki punched a large hole in the hard rock wall.
After a brief landing, Roy spread out the map in his hand and expanded the echo map once more.
The images of all surrounding objects immediately reappeared in Roy's mind.
Bit by bit, they inspected and searched.
After Bruno shifted three more times, he was now drenched in sweat, looking nearly exhausted.
Using the Door-Door Fruit ability required a great deal of stamina.
Ten explorations in a short time had drained Blueno's strength quickly.
"Found it!"
Roy rolled up the scroll, and based on the echo map's positioning in his mind, they finally found their destination about seven hundred meters above the lighthouse.
Although the spot had been worn down by hundreds of years of seawater, the shape of the hollow was exactly like the map's marker.
"No wonder it's so hard to find! Hundreds of years of erosion have smoothed out the sturdy contours. And I should have thought, how easy is it for anyone to reach a place on Reverse Mountain? This distance, not too far and not too close, is where ordinary strong people can reach!"
This misguided assumption caused Roy and Blueno a lot of wasted effort.
With Blueno gritting his teeth, they reached the final location indicated on the treasure map.
A clearly contoured spot.
Roy could see the embedded shadows.
Boom!
An arm covered in Armament Haki struck with Roy's full strength.
The explosive force collided with the hard Red Line and, debris flew everywhere.
Steadying himself with Moonwalk, Blueno marveled at Roy's strength while being startled.
A dark hole appeared before them.
Sound had already informed Roy what lay inside, as he and Blueno stepped into the ten-meter-diameter dark hole.
Drip, drip!
Water droplets from the rocks above fell to the ground.
This treasure cave, dark and damp, held common gold and jewels at its farthest end. Atop these corroded treasures lay a small golden chest.
"Ha, gold! An unexpected bonus! But if we hadn't come, this entrance would probably collapse from seawater erosion in another decade or so."
Bending down to pick up the not-so-clean chest, Roy knew this was his objective.
"What could it be? An over-a-hundred-year-old Devil Fruit; I wonder if it's expired?"
The golden chains on the chest were violently torn apart by Roy.
Blueno, holding a torch, came to Roy's side, as the contents of the chest were revealed.
A pure white Devil Fruit, like a cloud, came into view for both Roy and Blueno.
Gulp!
"This Devil Fruit..."
Having seen illustrations of this Devil Fruit in the encyclopaedia before, Roy, without hesitation shoved it into his mouth and swallowed it whole.
