Capítulo 32: Chapter 32: Skeletal King Gary

"What a terrifying figure it was!"

Although humanoid, it towered nearly 16 feet tall, almost reaching 17 feet.

In front of this imposing figure, even the robust and mighty two-headed giant chief could only be described as puny.

It stood at the end of the Holy Flame corridor.

Its icy blue pupils stared down the Angel squad that had retreated back to their Territory, displaying a chilling indifference.

Clad in a full suit of black armor and carrying two exaggeratedly large war swords on its back—each larger and more intimidating than the mace Edward had listed earlier in the day.

Through the eye sockets of its black helmet, one could see that its blue pupils were not real eyes, but flames burning brightly—Soul Flames, a characteristic of the undead skeletal race.

It was foreseeable that the body beneath the black armor was likely composed of a skeletal structure.

It was hard to imagine what race it could have belonged to in life to possess such a massive body.

Certainly not human.

Perhaps it was from the Giants, or maybe even the legendary Titans.

Edward felt that the former was more likely.

Whether it was due to the distance or the vast difference in levels, Edward could not see any information about this gigantic undead.

...

"Lord."

Virginia approached Edward, her stunningly beautiful face slightly flushed, perhaps from the intensity of the recent battle. Whatever the reason, to Edward, Virginia seemed even more beautiful at that moment, radiating a breathtaking charm.

Edward was no stranger to beautiful women. Helen, the Class Mentor, was a knockout herself. But Virginia's beauty was on another level entirely.

Unaware of Edward's reaction, Virginia spoke with respectful earnestness, "This undead creature's magical fluctuations are incredibly strong, surpassing level nine."

"With my current strength, I can match a level nine professional."

"However, this undead creature feels extremely dangerous to me."

"It must be at the king-level."

"King-level undead?" Edward felt a chill run down his spine. It was one thing to deal with lesser creatures, but a king-level was beyond his expectations.

Edward quickly regained his composure and reassured her, "Don't worry, our Territory is protected by the power of the Worlds' Floating Isles' rules. Even if it truly is a king-level boss, it can't breach our defenses."

Virginia nodded, then said with determination, "Please, Lord, give me some time. Once I level up to nine, I will slay this heretical undead and purify its soul, to cleanse the disrespect it has shown you."

In Virginia's eyes, this king-level undead's intrusion into the Lord of Holy Light's Territory and its disdainful gaze upon the Lord's subjects were acts of grave disrespect and unforgivable sins. She was eager to grow stronger and eliminate this threat.

"Alright, I'll wait," Edward smiled. Pressure indeed breeds motivation, and Virginia was clearly driven to reach level nine.

Just then, the king-level undead slowly turned its massive head, shifting its gaze from the Angels and locking eyes with Edward, as if it had finally found its true adversary. In that moment, Edward felt an indescribable chill.

However, the feeling didn't last long, as Virginia and Janet quickly stepped in front of him, glaring back at the king-level undead. As divine beings, the Angels were fearless, especially when confronting evil creatures. They naturally possessed a buff against enemies.

Faced with the stern looks from Virginia and Janet, the king-level undead remained silent—likely because, being skeletal, it probably lacked vocal cords. After a brief standoff, it seemed to concede defeat.

Turning its giant-like body, it slowly stepped back into the darkness. It had come quickly and left just as swiftly.

As it departed, the noise outside the Territory also seemed to fade, as if the dense crowd of undead creatures was being led away as well.

...

Edward heaved a sigh of relief. After all, dealing with a king-level boss was still beyond his current capabilities. It was best that it left on its own.

Edward turned to Virginia and Janet, who had stepped aside, and asked, "Can you tell what kind of undead this is, a skeletal lord or a skeletal king?"

"Reporting to Lord, it is a skeletal king," Virginia responded.

Janet added, "I can sense that behind it, in the darkness, there are many higher-level undead, far surpassing the ordinary skeletal creatures and ghouls we see on the battlefield."

Hearing this, Edward felt immensely relieved. Thankfully, the Angel squad had decisively retreated, and thankfully, the Territory was protected by the power of the Worlds' Floating Isles... otherwise, the losses would have been significant.

This also directly proved that the wilderness under the veil of darkness was indeed very dangerous. A slight oversight could lead to disaster.

Edward suddenly frowned and said, "It's strange, why would this skeletal king come to my Territory in the middle of the night with a bunch of high-level undead minions? Where did it come from?"

None of the Angels could answer this question because they were also puzzled.

Just then, Edward suddenly heard someone speaking in a low voice, but he heard it clearly, saying 'great god...'

Looking in the direction of the voice, he saw a Goblin raising his hand.

This Goblin was Frank, whom Edward had spoken to earlier in the afternoon.

"Come here," Edward gestured to Goblin Frank.

Upon receiving his lord's summons, Frank hurried over and knelt before Edward, excitedly saying, "Lord, I know the origin of that skeletal king."

"Really?" Edward's eyes lit up. "Let's hear it."

Goblin Frank, not daring to raise his head, continued to bow and quickly said, "Its name is Gary, Skeletal King Gary. It is said that in its lifetime, it was a strong member of the Giant Kingdom."

"It turned into an undead creature due to unresolved grievances from a violent death."

"Skeletal King Gary rules the Burial Ground, but no one knows exactly where the Burial Ground is located. It's speculated to possibly be in the Underworld."

"The Underworld?" Edward echoed.

"Yes, Lord," Goblin Frank said. "Beneath our feet in the Underworld, countless evil creatures live, and the undead are just one of them."

Hearing this, Edward felt his worldview expand.

He thought for a moment and then said to Virginia, "The territory of the skeletal king must be right beneath our nearby area; otherwise, it wouldn't have appeared so quickly."

"When you go out hunting, pay attention to searching for any passages that might lead to the Underworld."

For Edward at this moment, Skeletal King Gary was like a ticking time bomb, extremely dangerous.

But it wouldn't be long before Virginia and Janet reached level nine, and then Skeletal King Gary would become an Easter egg.

Back when he played games, Edward loved defeating bosses.

It was the same in the Worlds' Floating Isles.

Defeating boss-level monsters was the only way to have a higher chance of dropping blueprints and equipment.

At this point, Goblin Frank raised his hand again and said, "Lord, the gray dwarves tribe should know where there are passages to the Underworld. The despicable gray dwarves love to dig caves in the bellies of mountains, and even their tribe is hidden inside a large mountain."

"That's good news," Edward grinned.

His original plan was to tackle the Goblin tribe first, then conquer the gray dwarves tribe.

Finally, he would defeat the two-headed giant tribe guarded by a king-level powerhouse.

Now, having pushed through the gray dwarves' tribe, he could simultaneously gather some information about Skeletal King Gary, preparing for the upcoming Easter egg.

"Frank, you've done well. I believe you are a promising Goblin."

Hearing Edward's words, Goblin Frank was overjoyed.

He felt as if his soul was about to soar.

After all, this was praise from a god.

After Goblin Frank left, Edward also instructed Virginia and the other Angels to go back and rest, and to replenish their nearly depleted magic.

They definitely couldn't hunt anymore tonight.

The Angel squad needed to be fully rested, ready to take over the Goblin tribe first thing tomorrow morning.
