Capítulo 7: Chapter 7: “Magic Array Encyclopedia”

Orion woke up slowly.

He got out of bed in the dormitory once more.

After a while, he was certain he had returned to Kamar-Taj!

"A golden nest or a silver nest is not as good as my doghouse," Orion said self-deprecatingly.

The dormitory was sparsely furnished with only a bed, a table, and a chair. If he were promoted to a formal mage, he would move to better accommodations. Today, he aimed to pass the formal mage assessment and establish another "soul anchor" in Kamar-Taj.

Orion fetched water to wash up and quickly sought out Baron Mordo on the martial arts field at Kamar-Taj. The burly and powerful Baron Mordo was observing the apprentice disciples' contests.

\[Name\]: Karl Baron Mordo

\[Identity\]: Chief Mage

\[Attributes\]: Erudite (green), powerful (blue), black magic enthusiast (white), ambitious (black).

Orion glanced at the entry panel again and noticed a new addition.

"Black magic enthusiast? Baron Mordo has begun to study black magic in secret…?" Orion thought, surprised.

Had Baron Mordo's fate changed because of his arrival? Why hadn't he received any feedback from the luck system?

Orion frowned, full of doubts. Baron Mordo's descent into darkness was primarily due to Stephen Strange seizing the Supreme Sorcerer position he desired. With Doctor Strange yet to begin, why had Baron Mordo turned evil prematurely?

This troubled Orion deeply. He had resolved to alter Baron Mordo's fate and grant him numerous luck points.

"Orion," Baron Mordo said, "I heard you can read Sanskrit and borrowed some books on mystic art. Are you here seeking advice?"

Baron Mordo turned to face Orion, a hint of coldness in his eyes, though he feigned courtesy.

"Yes, Brother Mordo. Thanks to your teachings, I wish to undergo the formal mage assessment!"

Orion smiled, knowing Mordo's ambition, yet refraining from confrontation.

"The title of Supreme Mage should rightfully pass to you, ensuring Kamar-Taj's prosperity," Orion praised, subtly manipulating Baron Mordo's ego.

These words carried weight. A strange expression flitted across Baron Mordo's face.

"Will I succeed the Ancient One as the next Supreme Mage?" Baron Mordo asked incredulously.

"Orion, are you certain?"

Mordo's surprise was evident. Orion had only been a student for half a month, progressing faster in martial arts and mastering mystic art—unprecedented among his peers.

Mordo felt threatened. Though more qualified than Orion, his talent paled in comparison.

"Indeed, Brother Mordo. Without your guidance, I would not have made such strides," Orion replied, showering Mordo with praise.

But Mordo sensed something amiss. Orion seemed uninterested in the Supreme Mage title, leaving Kaecilius as his sole rival.

"Brother Mordo, I believe you should succeed the Ancient One," Orion continued, feigning hesitation.

This piqued Mordo's curiosity. "But…?"

"Don't leave me hanging, Orion," Mordo teased, his gaze penetrating.

Orion discerned Mordo's thoughts. Perhaps he could exploit this opportunity!

"Brother Mordo, if you find it inconvenient to act openly, I could establish a mystic society on your behalf."

Orion's eyes gleamed, and Mordo took the bait, intrigued.

"A mystic society?" Mordo mused, though caution filled his voice. "Orion, such actions contradict Kamar-Taj's principles."

Mordo's face darkened, though inwardly he was pleased. Officially forbidden, clandestine activities were possible.

Orion, skilled in diplomacy, quickly responded. "Brother Mordo, I would never betray our secrets. Besides, surely the Ancient One is aware of Kaecilius's actions?"

Orion's words resonated with Mordo, who nodded in agreement. Yet, he maintained his righteous stance.

"Orion! Kamar-Taj's laws are sacrosanct. I sentence you to transcribe the 'Basic General Theory' by nightfall," Mordo declared firmly.

Transcribe it by nightfall? Orion grimaced. He understood this was merely a pretext—a chance for private conversation.

But why hadn't the system responded? Had his actions not altered Baron Mordo's fate sufficiently?

Orion resolved to intensify his efforts!

With resolve, he returned to the library to delve deeper into the arcane mysteries. After all, he was prepared to become a "mysterious beast"!

Upon arriving at the library, he found Master Murphyson.

"Orion," Murphyson greeted warmly, "thanks to your suggestion, I stumbled upon Agamotto's book on magic arrays. Care for a look?"

Orion was stunned.

Agamotto? A book on magic arrays?

No wonder Murphyson's fate had taken a significant turn—it wasn't solely due to Orion's advice.

This book on magic arrays was the key!
