Capítulo 9: Otomedori- 1

So we back at it again.

~~~~~~~
When he regained consciousness, he realised that he was lying on a bed all alone. He sat up and began to look around the room.
The room wasn't big or luxurious. It had one desk and an almirah, and that was it.
He then got up from the bed and walked into the bathroom to see his new appearance. When he did, he realised that he had taken over the body of a high school student.
He had fair skin, short brown spiky hair, mahogany eyes, and a height slightly above average.
"He looks below average…" Darien mumbled after seeing his new face.
"Star, give me the memories," Darien ordered.
The memories are being transferred.
Foreign memories began to flood his mind, and the process lasted for a minute. However, thanks to his ability, he didn't feel the pain of the sudden intrusion of the memories.
After he went through the memories, he mentally nodded at himself as the rest of the original guy's life wasn't that bad.
His name is Kazuki Okino, and he lives with his little sister named Rinka Okino. Their parents died in a plane crash when they were little, so they had gotten quite close to each other.
They also met another girl when they were kids, Otome Sakuragi, who later became the crush of the original Kazuki.
Does the host want to access the future memories? The mission has been created as well.
"Sure, go ahead."
The moment he agreed, the system began to synchronise him with the original soul and then sent another batch of foreign memories to his brain.
The process lasted for a minute, and after that, he began to go through the future memories. His eyes soon widened in shock and concern when he saw what had happened to these three teenagers.
His little sister had been gang-raped by some older individuals since they were kids, and she then involved Otome out of jealousy as she didn't want to see her together with Kazuki.
The original Kazuki began to receive tapes of inappropriate videos involving Otome and these individuals, and as he didn't dare to face reality, he began to use them as fapping material.
In the future, he was also raped by his little sister and then married Otome. She even got pregnant, but it wasn't his child, and she didn't know who the father was either as she had been having sex with multiple people.
After going through the memories, all he could do was feel a deep sense of sadness for the original Kazuki's life. His sister wasn't innocent either, but he couldn't blame her as she was mentally broken by them since she was just a kid.
In the end, the depression became so severe that the original Kazuki decided to end his miserable life as there was nothing good for him there.
Mission - The original soul of Kazuki wasn't happy with the way things ended, so he made a contract with the Star Guide system.
Objectives:
- Live a happy life. The original soul wants to see you living a happy life.
- Protect those two. His sister might have done something awful, but he can't leave her in their clutches.
- Find justice for everyone responsible for ruining the lives of those three teenagers.
Rewards - Based on your performance.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure that everyone lives happily," Kazuki mumbled under his breath. "Show me my status page."
Name - Kazuki Okino (Darien Dragonheart).
Age - 16.
Race - Human.
World - Otomedori.
Abilities:
- Essence of the Dominator.
- Essence of the Sword of Victory.
Kazuki nodded at his status page, then picked up his toothbrush and began to clean his teeth. After that, he took a quick shower.
By the time he came back to his room, his little sister, Rinka, was already there, dressed in her school uniform.
"Onii-chan, you're up so early," Rinka said with a smile, her eyes roving over his bare torso. "That's unusual for you."
Kazuki turned to face his sister, his expression calm. "Yeah, I woke up early today," he replied, noting the subtle glint in her eyes.
Rinka stepped closer, her smile unwavering. "You should get dressed. We don't want to be late for school." She handed him his uniform, and Kazuki took it, nodding his thanks.
"Sure thing, Rinka," he said, his voice steady. As he dressed, he began to formulate a plan to ensure their safety and happiness.
Once dressed, Kazuki followed Rinka to the kitchen, where they had a simple breakfast together. The usual banter between them brought a sense of normalcy.
"Did you finish your homework, Onii-chan?" Rinka asked, teasingly.
"Of course," Kazuki replied with a smirk. "Unlike you, I don't procrastinate."
"Hey!" Rinka protested with a laugh. "I don't procrastinate... much."
After breakfast, they headed to school, walking side by side.
Upon reaching the school, Kazuki saw Otome waiting near the entrance. She waved, a bright smile on her face.
"Onii-chan, let's go say hi to Otome-chan!" Rinka exclaimed, tugging at his arm.
"Of course," Kazuki replied, smiling at Rinka before walking over to Otome. "Good morning, Otome."
"Good morning, Kazuki-kun, Rinka-chan," Otome greeted warmly.
"How's it going, Otome-chan?" Rinka asked, her tone cheerful.
"Pretty good," Otome replied. "I was just thinking about the weekend. Do you guys have any plans?"
"Not yet," Kazuki said. "What about you?"
Otome shrugged. "Nothing much, just studying and maybe hanging out with you guys."
"We should all go somewhere fun!" Rinka suggested, her eyes lighting up.
"Sounds like a plan," Kazuki agreed. "Maybe we can go to the arcade or the park."
"That sounds great," Otome said, smiling brightly. "I'd love that."
While chatting, they all entered the school and went to their respective classes. Rinka was in the first year, Kazuki in the second year, and Otome in the third year.
Classes passed uneventfully, and Kazuki used the time to gather information about those old men through the Star system using his Star points, planning his next steps carefully.
During lunch, he sat with Rinka and Otome, engaging in light conversation while subtly probing for information. "So, how's everything been, Otome? Any interesting projects?"
Otome smiled softly. "Just the usual school stuff. I've been thinking about joining a club, though."
"Which one?" Rinka asked, curious.
"I'm not sure yet," Otome admitted. "Maybe the art club or the literature club."
"Both sound like fun," Kazuki said, keeping his tone casual. "You should go for it."
As the school day ended, Kazuki walked outside the classroom with his bag on his shoulder.
At the entrance gate, he saw Otome and Rinka talking to each other, giggling occasionally.
"Onii-chan, I am going to my friend's house now," Rinka said the moment she saw him. "Otome-chan is also heading home because of some urgent work."
Kazuki nodded and turned to look at the pink-haired girl. "Some house chores, I guess?"
"Yes," Otome nodded. "I need to clean the house, so I won't be able to come with you."
"It's alright," Kazuki said with a smile before turning to look at his little sister with a serious expression. "You aren't going anywhere today."
Seeing that he wouldn't let her go today, Rinka asked, "Onii-chan, why can't I go to my friend's house?"
Kazuki looked at her, his expression serious. "I'm your elder brother, and I need to discuss something urgent with you at home."
Otome tried to convince him to let Rinka go. "Kazuki-kun, I'm sure it's not that urgent. Can't she—"
Kazuki's serious and slightly angry expression made her stop mid-sentence. His intense gaze was enough to silence any further objections.
"Listen to your elder brother, Rinka," Otome said softly, then turned to leave, waving at them before heading home.
From the corner of his eye, Kazuki noticed an old man some distance away, watching Rinka intently. The sight made his anger flare up, but he kept his expression controlled.
Confused and somewhat frustrated, Rinka followed her brother, glancing back at the old man. She gave the man an apologetic look, but he simply nodded and walked away.
At home, Rinka immediately asked, her voice tinged with confusion and concern, "Onii-chan, why wouldn't you let me go to my friend's house? What's going on?"
Kazuki's eyes softened with a mix of regret and determination as he took a deep breath, his words careful and measured. "Rinka, I've been blind to your pain. But now that I see it, I want to help."
"What are you taking about?" Rinka asked with a confused expression but when she saw his expression, she knew she was caught. "It's too late, Onii-chan. You can't do anything now."
Kazuki's jaw tightened, a flicker of anger briefly crossing his features. "Tell me who they are, Rinka."
Rinka's defiance flared in her eyes, her voice laced with defiance. "No. Are you asking to protect me or to confront them?"
Kazuki's gaze bore into hers, unwavering. "I want to protect you, Rinka. But are you protecting them out of fear or loyalty?"
Rinka's façade faltered, a moment of vulnerability breaking through before she masked it with a smirk. "It doesn't matter, Onii-chan. I've fallen for them."
Kazuki's heart sank at her admission, his voice barely above a whisper. "Who matters more to you, Rinka? Me or them?"
Rinka hesitated, torn between loyalty and her newfound affection. "Both are important. I won't choose."
Kazuki nodded slowly, a mixture of sadness and resolve shadowing his features. Without another word, he rose from his seat and disappeared into the kitchen, leaving Rinka to grapple with her conflicting emotions.
Rinka watched him with a gnawing sense of unease, her heart pounding in her chest as she anticipated his return. When he emerged, a glint of steel in his hand, her breath caught in her throat.
"Onii-chan, what are you doing?" Her voice trembled with fear and confusion.
Kazuki's voice remained steady, though his hand shook imperceptibly. "I'll protect you, Rinka, no matter what. If you won't tell me willingly, I'll find another way. But I won't let them control you."
As he looked at her, a silent plea echoed in his eyes, begging her to trust him, to let him shoulder her burdens.
Kazuki's expression softened, a mixture of sorrow and determination reflecting in his eyes. "If you're truly happy with them, Rinka, then I've failed you."
Rinka scoffed, a tremor of uncertainty betraying her bravado. "You wouldn't dare."
Her bravado crumbled in the face of Kazuki's resolve as he suddenly drove the knife into his hand, blood welling from the wound.
"Onii-chan!" Rinka's scream pierced the air as she rushed to his side, her hands trembling as she tried to staunch the flow of blood. "Stop!"
But Kazuki remained resolute, his gaze unwavering even as pain etched lines of agony across his face. "I'd rather die than let you suffer. Please, Rinka, let me help you."
Tears streamed down Rinka's face, her hands shaking as she struggled to comprehend the depth of her brother's sacrifice. "Onii-chan, please, stop this!"
Kazuki's grip tightened on her hand, his voice hoarse with pain yet infused with a quiet determination. "Tell me, Rinka. I can't bear to see you like this."
With her resolve crumbling, Rinka choked back a sob, her voice barely a whisper. "Okay, Onii-chan. I'll tell you everything. Just please, don't hurt yourself anymore."
Kazuki's breath hitched with relief, his eyes closing briefly as he nodded. "Thank you, Rinka. We'll get through this together. I promise."
As Rinka divulged the names and locations of their tormentors, a seething rage simmered beneath Kazuki's calm exterior, his knuckles whitening as he clenched his fists.
After she finished, she hurried to fetch the first aid kit, leaving Kazuki to grapple with a tumult of emotions raging within him.
"So she still sees me as her elder brother…" Kazuki's voice trailed off into a whisper, a faint smile touching his lips as he contemplated the complexities of their bond.
Though he had known about everything thanks to the Star Guide system, he needed to hear his sister's thoughts firsthand, to understand whose side she was truly on.
After Rinka returned with the first aid kit, she gently guided Kazuki to sit on the couch, her touch tender yet firm as she tended to his wound.
"Sorry, Onii-chan," she murmured, her voice soft with regret as she carefully cleaned the cut on his hand.
Kazuki winced slightly at the sting of the antiseptic but offered her a reassuring smile. "It's okay, Rinka. Thank you for helping me."
Rinka's hands moved with practised precision, her movements graceful yet efficient as she cleaned and bandaged Kazuki's injured hand.
With each gentle touch, a silent apology passed between them, a wordless acknowledgment of the pain they had both endured.
Once the immediate crisis was addressed, Rinka turned her attention to the bloodstains that marred the once pristine surface of the sofa.
"I'll take care of this," she said, her voice determined as she fetched a damp cloth and a bottle of cleaner.
Kazuki watched her with a mixture of admiration and gratitude, his heart swelling with a newfound appreciation for the strength and resilience she possessed.
"You're amazing, Rinka," he said softly, his voice filled with warmth. "Thank you for always being there for me."
With the cleaning done, they made their way to the dining table where a delicious aroma greeted them, a testament to Rinka's culinary skills.
"This looks incredible, Rinka," Kazuki exclaimed, his eyes lighting up with excitement as he took a seat at the table.
Rinka smiled, a hint of pride shining in her eyes. "I hope you like it, Onii-chan. I made your favourite."
As they ate, conversation flowed more freely between them than it had in years. They reminisce about their childhood adventures, sharing laughter and tears as they revisited cherished memories long buried beneath the weight of their pain.
After dinner, they retreated to the living room, settling in to watch a movie together. Side by side on the couch, they found solace in the familiar comfort of each other's presence.
"This is nice, isn't it?" Kazuki said, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between them.
Rinka nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Yeah, it really is."
And as they sat together in the quiet intimacy of the dimly lit room, the barriers that had long divided them began to crumble, replaced by a sense of unity and understanding that transcended words.
