Capítulo 96: Forced to Beg for Help

As soon as they checked into the hotel, Zuri received updates and photos from a private detective. Zuri's fingers skimmed over each photo, observing Christian and Saira entering and exiting their room together, looking very intimate. A slight smile appeared on her lips.

She enlarged one of the photos, focusing on Christian's eyes, which held a deep, affectionate gaze. Interesting. She decided this photo was worth keeping.

Christian, Saira, Arthur, Damian... How fascinating.

Zuri toyed with a glass bottle in her hand, which contained several shriveled tails. "It's time to gather you all together for a game. Hmm... what game should we play? Let's see..."

Back at the Liu household

Rhea had just returned home and immediately saw her drunken brother and her father writhing in pain on the bed.

"Rhea, help your father," her father pleaded, his eyes filled with desperation.

Rhea turned away, unable to bear the sight of her father's half-dead state.

"Rhea."

Her father kept calling her name all night long, his physical pain preventing him from finding any rest. He used this constant calling to seek relief.

The neighbors pointed fingers at Rhea the next morning.

"Rhea, are you really going to ignore your father?"

"Rhea, although your father favored sons over daughters, he wasn't bad to you. Are you just going to watch him die?"

"How can you be so heartless? He called your name all night, and you didn't feel any pain?"

Rhea hurried away with her head down.

What could she do? What options did she have?

After a sleepless night due to her father's cries, she was distracted at work and spilled coffee on a customer's clothes. She had to pay for the damage with several days' worth of wages and lost her job.

Rhea crouched at the street corner, feeling helpless and lost.

Suddenly, she saw familiar figures on the street not far away: Zuri, Azura, and Farida, all dressed elegantly, chatting and laughing.

Why were their lives so good while she lived like a beast of burden?

They were the same age, but they lived like princesses while she was exhausted like an ox.

She was unwilling to accept this. Truly unwilling.

Rhea stood up and walked step by step towards Zuri.

Azura nudged Zuri, warning, "Rhea is coming."

"If you're here to harm Zuri, you'll have to get through us first," Farida said warily, looking at the disheveled Rhea, whose clothes were stained with coffee.

Ignoring Farida, Rhea stared at Zuri. "Can I talk to you alone? I have something to ask you."

"Don't go. This scheming woman is too dangerous," Farida warned.

Zuri shrugged, indicating there was no need to worry. "Okay."

They walked to a nearby park. Farida turned to Azura, "Aren't you worried? Rhea has bad intentions."

Azura laughed softly, "You should worry about Rhea."

She had witnessed Zuri's capabilities and didn't think Rhea could do anything to Zuri.

In the park, they sat on a bench. The quiet surroundings were occasionally broken by the sounds of insects and birds.

"Was all of this your plan from the beginning?" Rhea demanded.

"What plan?" Zuri tilted her head, looking at Rhea with clear, leisurely eyes.

"That day at the school gate, you told me to come to you when I was desperate. Now I am desperate, and you know exactly why," Rhea said through gritted teeth.

"Of course I know."

"You admit it. How did I not realize before how scheming you are?" Rhea glared at her.

Zuri chuckled lightly. "I lived with your Liu family for ten years. I know exactly what kind of people you are. It wasn't hard to predict your downfall."

"Don't act like you're some victim. You approached us with your own agenda. You know exactly what that agenda was," Rhea retorted, hitting a sore spot.

Yes, she had an agenda.

In her previous life, both before and after she was recognized, she had a goal.

A goal she once longed for, dreamed of having.

Something that many people could easily obtain, but for an orphan like her, it was unattainable.

She had compromised for it.

She had paid a price for it.

So, in this life, she wouldn't desire or yearn for something she could never have.

"Did you come to me today just for this?"

Rhea remained silent.

Zuri stood up and walked away.

"Wait."

She stopped and turned, looking at her quietly.

Rhea struggled internally, but in the end, reality won. "You said you would give me another chance. Is that true?"

"Of course," Zuri confirmed.

"Then please help me, help the Liu family," Rhea said stiffly, her cold expression making it seem like she was commanding rather than pleading.

"Are you asking for help, or ordering me?"

"I..." Rhea gritted her teeth.

She had already lowered her head. What more did she want?

Rhea felt hatred but didn't show it.

She suppressed her humiliation and hatred, looking at Zuri with teary eyes. "Zuri, I was wrong before. I was foolish, listening to others and making so many mistakes. I'm sorry. But please, for the sake of our past, help me one more time. I will remember this favor and repay you someday."

Seeing no response, Rhea looked at her in confusion.

Was this not enough?

Seeing her confusion, Zuri spoke slowly, "How much sincerity do you think your words had?"

A perfunctory apology, thinking she could get help just by saying a few soft words like before.

Rhea met Zuri's icy gaze, and with a resolute heart, she knelt down.

"Please, give us one more chance," Rhea pleaded, her face twisted with rage and resentment deep in her eyes.

Zuri, don't let me get up.

When I have the power, I will repay you a hundredfold for today's humiliation.

Zuri watched her tense body and rigid posture with a cold smile.

She could guess what Rhea was thinking.

But did she care?

No, she did not.
