chapter 6 training for the future

Like I promised Izuku, we went to a dojo to train. As we approached, I noticed my dad's hand was trembling.

"Dad, is there a problem?"

"N-n-no, son. It's just, I feel a bit nostalgic."

"The owner of the dojo is a retired hero. I used to intern at his agency and trained under him. But be warned, he isn't the type to hold back."

Hearing that made me a little excited. I thought we might end up at a regular dojo and not learn much, but knowing the owner was a retired hero changed everything.

When we entered, a rough voice greeted us.

"Is that you, Genkei?"

"Oh, Mr. Ichigo, it's been a long time," my dad replied.

"Well, ever since you ran away from my agency, we've only ever talked on the phone."

My dad laughed nervously. "Yes, the last time I heard any news about you, I heard you opened a dojo after you retired."

"Yes, and since then, my dojo has flourished. None of my new students are wimps like you. Hahahahaha! So, why did you come here?"

"Well, I wanted to enroll my son."

"Hello, my name is Takahashi Junpei. Nice to meet you, Mr. Ichigo."

"This is your son? He does look like you. So, you want him to train here? I don't see a reason why not. The lesson will start after the other parents finish enrolling their children," Mr. Ichigo said before leaving.

I waited for Akari and Izuku to show up, thinking about the future. Now that I'm at this point, maybe I should have chosen a different story, one I could change. But that doesn't matter anymore. I already chose this, so I just have to deal with it.

Soon, I noticed Akari and Izuku walking in.

"Junpei, you came!" Akari said.

"Yes, it was a bit far away, but we still made it," she continued.

"The distance doesn't matter. I came here to become a hero," Izuku added with determination.

"Well, there is some good news. My dad told me that the owner of this place used to be a hero."

"REALLY?" both of them said in unison.

"So, we're going to train under a hero!" Akari exclaimed.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Izuku," a familiar voice rang out. Looking for the source, I saw one of Bakugo's old lackeys walking towards us. It was the fat kid with wings, but now he was even fatter.

"What are you doing here?" Akari growled at him.

"What, I'm here to try to become a hero, something a stupid Quirkless kid will never know," he sneered.

"Don't say something like that," his mom scolded.

"But it's true, Mom. He will never become a hero."

"Well, yes, but you shouldn't say that to him," she said with a smile.

I remained calm, but Akari couldn't hold back. "SHUT THE HELL UP, YOU FAT PIG!" she shouted, suddenly appearing in front of him and punching him so hard he flew off his feet, sending him crashing to the floor. Everyone in the dojo was stunned.

"What did you do to my son?" his mother screamed after snapping out of it.

"I'm just getting rid of a filthy pig, nothing else," Akari said coolly.

"How dare you—" she started, but Mr. Ichigo interrupted her.

"You can leave now," he said firmly.

"What?" the mother snapped, glaring at him.

"The moment you supported your son's prejudice against this Quirkless kid, you weren't welcome here."

"This doesn't have anything to do with you," she retorted angrily.

"Oh, but it does. As a former hero, I have a lot of connections. If I hear anything about this incident, you will not get off safely. I can release the fact that you support your son's prejudiced claims to Your colleagues and ending up destroying your career," Mr. Ichigo said, his voice cold and unyielding.

After hearing that, she got scared and left. The other parents who overheard the conversation decided to enroll their children in the dojo, impressed by the master's intolerance for prejudice.

"Young Junpei, is your little friend okay?" Mr. Ichigo asked, concerned.

"Don't worry about it. I'm used to it, actually," Izuku said, causing Master Ichigo to frown.

"This isn't good. You shouldn't get used to this type of stuff. This is actually why I brought him," I interrupted, "so he can defend himself from people like that and to become a hero."

Mr. Ichigo looked confused after hearing this. "Becoming a hero?"

I explained what I had told Izuku that day.

"Oh my. Is this really your son, Genkei?"

"Yes, you should have seen my wife's and my faces when we heard that. We were completely surprised that our son had such a mature perspective. To the point where we couldn't believe it, we asked his siblings and our friends if they had told him something like this, but all of them said no."

"This is incredible. Your son has the attitude of a hero. And from the text you sent me, he has a powerful Quirk to match. The same goes for the girl who stood up for her friend," Mr. Ichigo said, clearly impressed.

"Well, young Midoriya, I guess I will become your master and make you into a proper hero," Mr. Ichigo declared.

"Thank you, Master," Izuku said, tears in his eyes.

After that, Master Ichigo left, and my father went home too.

"Well, I guess we have a bit of time before the class starts," I said.

"Junpei, why didn't you join me in beating up that pig?" Akari asked.

"Because we would have been in some serious trouble. You were lucky that Master stepped in."

She wasn't happy with the answer, but she understood.

"Akari, what's been going on with you these days? You seem more violent against other kids."

"Well, because they are a bunch of jerks."

"Before, you wouldn't have done anything because you were shy."

"That was the old me. The new me won't be startled by anything."

"Oh, too bad. I'm gonna miss the old shy you. You were much cuter back then," I teased.

Her face turned completely red. "Stop saying stuff like that. Anyway, isn't your birthday coming up soon?" She quickly changed the topic.

I chuckled at her reaction. "Well, yeah. In a month and a half, I'm going to turn seven years old. That will make it officially three years since I awakened my Quirk. That means my second Quirk, Oni, should awaken soon."
