Capítulo 24: Chapter 24:Gary Enters Vermillion City!

Ace and the girls finally arrived at Vermillion City. The coastal town bustled with activity, with the salty scent of the ocean lingering in the air. It brought a nostalgic feeling to Ace, who smiled as he glanced at the familiar streets. "Welcome to my hometown," he said, his blue eyes glinting with pride.

Their first stop was the Pokémon Center, where Nurse Joy greeted them with her usual warmth. "We'll take great care of your Pokémon," she said, her Chansey happily waddling beside her.

As their Pokémon were being healed, the group sat in the lobby. May and Serena looked around curiously. "So, this is where you grew up, Ace?" Serena asked, her tone filled with genuine interest.

Ace nodded. "Yep. Vermillion City's small, but it's got its charm. There's a lot to see here. Once we're done here, I'll show you guys around."

After their Pokémon were returned, Ace led the girls through the city, pointing out notable places. "That's where I used to grab ice cream as a kid," he said, gesturing toward a small vendor.

May chuckled. "You've got a sweet tooth, huh?"

Ace smirked. "Maybe."

Finally, they arrived at their main destination: Professor Cerise's lab. The building stood proudly, surrounded by greenery. Ace pushed open the door, only to be met by a blur of movement.

"Ace!" a familiar voice cried out.

Before Ace could react, a missile in the form of Talia slammed into him, wrapping him in a tight hug. "I missed you so much, my little Ace!" she exclaimed, pressing him against her.

Ace's face turned red as he struggled to breathe. 'I can't breathe! Someone save me!' he thought desperately, as Talia's embrace unintentionally smothered him.

The girls watched in stunned silence, their mouths slightly open. Serena and May exchanged awkward glances, while Dawn tilted her head, unsure of what to make of the scene.

Professor Cerise appeared from behind Talia, chuckling awkwardly as he adjusted his glasses. "Ah, sorry about that. Talia's... enthusiastic as usual."

Talia finally let go, allowing Ace to gasp for air. "It's good to see you too, Talia," he managed, his voice slightly hoarse.

Cerise turned to the girls, his expression warm. "Welcome to my lab," he said, gesturing for them to come inside.

As the girls entered, they were met by the sight of neatly arranged equipment and some porygon wandering around freely. They marveled at the setup, but Chloe, who had been rushing toward the entrance with Talia earlier, stopped in her tracks when she saw the girls.

Peeking out from behind the door, Chloe's eyes narrowed as she glared at them. 'Who are these hussies?' she thought, her mind racing. 'And why are they with my Ace?'

Chloe crossed her arms, debating whether to confront them or not. Meanwhile, Ace, oblivious to Chloe's inner turmoil, began introducing everyone. "Professor, these are my traveling companions: Serena, May, and Dawn. Girls, this is Professor Cerise and his wife, Talia."

"It's a pleasure to meet you," Serena said politely.

"Nice to meet you!" May added cheerfully.

Dawn waved shyly. "Hi."

Talia grinned. "Any friends of Ace are welcome here. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."

Chloe remained quiet, her gaze fixed on the girls. 'What's so special about them anyway?' she fumed internally.

Ace, sensing Chloe's presence, turned toward her and smiled. "Hey, Chloe! Long time no see."

Chloe blinked, her stern expression softening slightly. "H-Hi, Ace," she mumbled, stepping out from behind the door.

As the group settled in, Talia and Cerise offered refreshments, and the girls began to relax. However, Chloe couldn't shake her irritation. She vowed to keep a close eye on these newcomers who dared to steal Ace's attention.

While the girls were chatting animatedly with Talia in the main room, Ace and Professor Cerise walked toward a more secluded area of the lab. Their previously cheerful expressions were replaced by serious looks as they stepped inside.

Ace reached into his bag and pulled out a small package. "Here it is," he said, handing it to Cerise. "Everything about Project Null is inside this."

Cerise nodded, his face grave. He carefully opened the package, revealing a hard disc inside. Holding it up, he motioned to a nearby Porygon that floated toward him with a mechanical hum.

"Porygon, process this data and secure it," Cerise instructed, handing over the disc.

The Porygon chirped in acknowledgment and absorbed the disc into its body. A soft blue glow enveloped it as it converted the disc into energy. Within moments, the Porygon merged with the computer, ensuring the data was stored securely and guarded against external threats.

Cerise sighed in relief once the task was done. "With the data protected, we can ensure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands," he said, giving Ace a reassuring nod.

Cerise offered him a seat, and the two finally let their guard down. "Now that that's settled," Cerise began, pouring two glasses of berry juice Talia had prepared earlier, "tell me, Ace. How's your journey been so far?" The two spent a little more time chatting, exchanging stories and laughing together.

While Ace and his companions rested in Professor Cerise's lab, a sleek red sports car rolled up to the entrance of Vermillion City, drawing the attention of passersby. The car gleamed under the sunlight, and the sound of its engine purred like a proud Arcanine.

From the passenger seat, Gary Oak leaned back with his trademark smirk, his sunglasses pulled down just enough to reveal his eyes. Surrounding him were his cheerleaders, a loud and enthusiastic group, with one of them expertly handling the car's steering.

As they passed the city's welcome sign, Gary sat up, his gaze narrowing as he muttered under his breath, "Ace Drago, huh?"

He recalled the conversation with his grandfather, Professor Oak, just a few days earlier after he had blitzed Cerulean Gym under those three Gold digging Whores who wanted a piece of himself when they knew who he was.

The words still echoed in his mind. "Gary, Ace is an exceptional trainer. You could learn a thing or two from him," Oak had said, his tone uncharacteristically firm. But what really stung Gary wasn't the praise Ace received—it was the fact that the prized Dratini, the one Gary had been eyeing for years, had been given to Ace instead of him.

Gary clenched his fists at the memory, a sour expression momentarily crossing his face. "That Dratini... I waited for it. I deserved it."

One of the cheerleaders glanced back at him, her voice breaking his thoughts. "Gary, are you okay? You've been quiet since we left Cerulean City."

He shook his head, his smirk returning. "I'm fine. Just thinking about how I'm going to see what this Ace guy is really made of."

The cheerleader driving the car giggled. "Oh, Gary, you're the best! No one can stand up to you!"

Gary chuckled, leaning back again. 'I'll show Grandpa and everyone else that I'm still the best. No way that guy's better than me, even with that Dratini.'

As the sports car sped through the streets of Vermillion City, Gary adjusted his sunglasses, his smirk widening. "Time to find out if Ace is worth all the hype."
