Capítulo 21: Chapter 21:Dratini!

Ace lay on the soft bed, staring at the ceiling, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. The events of the day replayed in his head like a movie, but one scene stuck out—Null. The professors' grim expressions, the blurry yet haunting image of the monstrous Pokémon, and the sheer impossibility of its existence had all left an uneasy knot in his stomach.

He glanced to his side, where Smeargle lay sprawled out, his tongue lolling from his mouth, snoring softly. Ace smiled faintly at the sight, his hand instinctively reaching out to pat Smeargle's head. The Pokémon twitched slightly but stayed fast asleep.

'Smeargle, you really worked hard today, huh?' Ace thought, his hand gently ruffling Smeargle's fur. 'You're amazing. All of you are.'

Despite the warmth he felt for his Pokémon, his mind circled back to the terrifying information the professors had shared. Null. A Pokémon that shouldn't exist, wielding all the gimmicks—Gigantamax, Terastallization, Mega Evolution, and even Z-moves. It was beyond the realm of anything Ace had ever seen in the Pokémon world.

'I know for a fact this thing doesn't belong here,' Ace thought, frowning slightly. 'I've watched every Pokémon episode, played all the games, even the newest ones. And okay, fine, I watched a few shorts of that Horizons series where the girl is the protagonist instead of Ash. I didn't like it at first… but, well, it grew on me.'

He chuckled at the memory, the light-hearted thought a small reprieve from the heavy topic at hand. But no matter how much he tried to distract himself, the image of Null loomed over him like a dark cloud.

'Why am I even worrying about this?' Ace thought, shaking his head. 'There's no way I'll ever come face to face with something like Null. It's too far-fetched, even for this world.'

He let out a small laugh, trying to convince himself, but deep down, the unease lingered. Unknown to Ace, his casual dismissal of the possibility had unknowingly raised a flag against himself. In the shadows of the unknown, somewhere far away, Null stirred in its cocoon of black flames, as if sensing the faint ripple of destiny drawing closer.

Morning sunlight bathed Pallet Town in a golden glow as Ace and the girls sat at the breakfast table, their plates empty but their minds filled with boredom. The professors were deep in conversation, their tones serious and discussions far too complex for the group of young trainers to follow. Dawn twirled a strand of her hair absentmindedly, May doodled on a napkin, and Serena rested her chin in her palm, staring into space.

Ace, too, was fidgeting, his foot tapping against the floor. 'When are we going to get out of here? I'm ready to get back on the road.'

The monotony was broken when Professor Oak approached with a package in hand. "Ace," Oak said, placing the box gently on the table. "This package is for Professor Cerise. It contains data on Null, and I cannot stress enough how important it is to deliver this with caution."

Ace straightened, the weight of the task settling in. "Understood, Professor. I'll make sure it gets to Professor Cerise safely."

Oak's nodded at Ace. "Good. Keep it safe and only hand it to Professor Cerise directly."

Ace nodded firmly and carefully placed the package in his bag. The seriousness of the moment hung in the air for a few seconds until Sycamore exchanged a knowing glance with the other professors. A sly smile spread across his face as he cleared his throat.

"Now, Ace," Sycamore began, his tone lighter, "for your bravery and help yesterday, we professors have decided to give you a little something."

Ace's eyes lit up, though he kept his smile modest. "A gift? Really? I mean… thank you!"

Sycamore chuckled. "You've earned it. Rowan, Birch, and I have decided to grant you the ability to carry two Pokémon from each of us. That means your carrying limit has been increased from six Pokémon to twelve."

The girls gasped in delight, quickly congratulating Ace, who was visibly thrilled.

Oak, who had been watching with a gentle smile, raised a hand. "Hold on, everyone. I also have a gift for Ace, though mine is a bit different."

Curiosity piqued, Ace and the girls followed Oak as he led them to the backyard. The familiar sight of Oak's Dragonite standing majestically in the sunlight greeted them. The large dragon Pokémon gave a rumbling greeting, nodding at Oak, who returned the gesture.

"Dragonite," Oak said, his tone warm, "it's time."

Dragonite stepped to the side, revealing a smaller figure that had been hiding behind its massive frame. A Dratini slithered forward, its smooth, blue body shimmering in the morning light. Its large, curious eyes blinked at Ace.

Ace's mouth fell open. "Is… is that—?"

Oak chuckled, already anticipating the question. "Yes, Ace. This Dratini is Dragonite's son. He's come of age and is ready to set out on his journey."

Ace looked between Dratini and Oak, the realization dawning on him. "Wait… are you saying—?"

Oak nodded, his smile widening. "Yes. After yesterday, I realized you would be the perfect trainer for Dratini. Your bond with your Pokémon, the strength and trust they've shown, and your potential make you the ideal choice."

Dragonite gave a deep nod beside Oak, growling softly as if to express its agreement.

Ace's mind raced. 'A Dratini? Professor Oaks Champion level Dragonite's son? This is insane! And Oak thinks I'm ready for this responsibility?'

Dratini slithered forward, looking up at Ace with an almost shy curiosity. Ace crouched down, extending a hand. "Hey there, buddy. I guess… we're going to be partners."

Dratini tilted its head before nuzzling Ace's hand, a soft coo escaping its lips. The girls screamed in a hushed voice as this scene looked so Adorable!!!

Ace gently pulled out a Pokéball from his belt, excitement bubbling within him. He tapped the ball lightly on Dratini's head, and with a flash of light, the Dragon Pokémon was absorbed into it. The ball wiggled once, twice, and then gave a satisfying ding, signaling the capture was complete.

"Yes!" Ace exclaimed, holding the ball high with a triumphant grin. He glanced over at Professor Oak, who was affectionately patting his Dragonite. The large Pokémon rumbled softly, a smile of paternal pride on its face, clearly satisfied that its son was in good hands.

Ace wasted no time and quickly whipped out his Pokédex, eager to learn more about his newest team member. Oak and the girls gathered around as the device scanned the Pokéball, and Dratini's entry appeared on the screen.

[Name: Dratini, The Dragon Pokémon.

Description: This Pokémon was long considered to be no more than a myth. The small lump on a Dratini's forehead is actually a horn that's still coming in.

Type: Dragon

Ability: Shed Skin

Gender: Male

Moves: Dragon Breath (Egg Move), Extreme Speed (Egg Move), Supersonic (Egg Move), Scale Shot (Egg Move), Draco Meteor (Egg Move), Dragon Rush (Egg Move), Leer, Wrap, Twister, Thunder Wave, Dragon Tail]

Ace's jaw dropped. 'What... what kind of monster luck is this?!'

Behind him, the girls peeked at the Pokédex screen and shared his shock. Dawn pointed at the move list. "Draco Meteor, Dragon Rush and Extreme Speed? As egg moves? That's crazy!"

May nodded vigorously. "This Dratini has some insane potential."

Serena added with a smile, "It's almost like you've won the genetic lottery with this one, Ace."

Ace was still too stunned to reply, but his thoughts were racing. 'This Dratini isn't just rare—it's a complete powerhouse waiting to happen! How am I supposed to train something like this?!'

Professor Oak chuckled, clearly amused by their reactions. "I had the same expression when I first examined him," he admitted, his tone fond. "But it all makes sense. His father—my Dragonite—is a champion-level Pokémon. And his mother, well, she's a champion-level Garchomp."

"Garchomp?!" Ace and the girls exclaimed in unison.

Oak nodded, stroking his beard thoughtfully. "Indeed. The union of two Pokémon with such immense strength and skill was bound to produce an extraordinary offspring. And now, that offspring is yours, Ace. You're the one who will guide him to his full potential."

Dragonite gave a deep, rumbling growl of approval, its sharp eyes focused on Ace. The young trainer felt a shiver of both excitement and responsibility. 'Dratini's parents must have been crazy strong in battle. If I can train him properly, he might become just as strong—or even stronger.'

Ace gripped the Pokéball tightly, a determined smile spreading across his face. 'Don't worry, Dratini. I won't let you down. We'll grow stronger together.'
