Capítulo 39: Ch-39 < Sound >

The next morning, Kevin woke up to find both Mobius and Mei stirring beside him.

The memories of their night together brought a small smile to his face. Mei, feeling the slight soreness in her body, murmured, "Brute…" She couldn't help but remember how Kevin had managed to satisfy both her and Mobius without any trouble.

As the morning light streamed through the windows, they began preparing for the day. Today was special—Elysia would be returning from her mission in Australia, and the entire base was buzzing with anticipation.

When Elysia finally arrived, they welcomed her with open arms. She came with her usual bright smile, her pink hair flowing in the wind as she ran toward Kevin. Without hesitation, she jumped into his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"I missed this warm feeling," Elysia said, her voice soft and affectionate as she nuzzled against him. Kevin simply patted her head, his own smile softening as he enjoyed the brief moment of peace.

She then greet everyone her smile brought warm atmosphere in MOTH.

But Elysia, ever the bringer of surprises, soon dropped a bombshell. "Oh, by the way, I eliminated a pseudo-Herrscher during the mission."

The room fell silent for a moment, everyone processing the gravity of her words. Mei was the first to speak. "Are you sure it was a Herrscher? We didn't get any readings."

Elysia nodded confidently. "Yes, I'm sure. Otherwise, how could she have taken down several of MOTH's elites?"

Mobius, always the scientist, asked with keen interest, "What was her ability?"

Elysia took a moment, placing a finger on her cheek as she pretended to be lost in thought. "Hmm, should I tell you?" she teased, enjoying the suspense.

"Tell me," Mobius demanded, her curiosity getting the better of her.

"It's related to tidal waves and the power of sound," Elysia finally revealed, her eyes reflecting the intensity of the battle she had fought.

Kevin, concerned, took Elysia's hands in his. "Are you hurt?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine care.

Elysia shook her head with a reassuring smile. "No. The Herrscher was weak. We took her down easily, and no one except me knew she was even a Herrscher."

Even though Elysia tried to downplay the danger, Kevin's expression remained serious. "Even if that's true, you shouldn't take unnecessary risks."

Elysia's charming smile returned. "Hai, hai, I'll remember," she said, though Kevin knew her well enough to doubt that she would.

Mobius, meanwhile, was practically bouncing with excitement. "Well, holiday's over! Back to work!" she declared, eager to dive back into research.

But Kevin, ever the voice of reason, convinced her otherwise. "Let's take today off so Elysia can rest. She deserves it after everything."

Despite Mobius's protests, Kevin's suggestion won out. However, it seemed Elysia had other plans. "Rest? Who said anything about resting? Let's go on a shopping date!" she announced with her usual enthusiasm.

Kevin sighed but couldn't refuse her. Before he knew it, they were in town, hopping from one store to the next.

Elysia, Mei, and even Mobius seemed to be in their element, buying all sorts of items—cosmetics, clothes, and accessories that Kevin couldn't imagine being essential.

As they shopped, Kevin couldn't help but notice the envious gazes directed at him.

After all, he was surrounded by three stunningly beautiful women, all laughing and chatting happily as they clung to him. Several girls in the mall threw longing looks his way, but Kevin barely noticed, too preoccupied with carrying their ever-increasing number of shopping bags.

Six hours later, Kevin was mentally exhausted.

But the smiles on Mei, Mobius, and Elysia's faces made it all worthwhile.

That night, they decided to take a boat ride on the river. The gentle sway of the boat and the cool night air was refreshing after the long day. The stars sparkled above, reflected in the water below, creating a serene atmosphere.

Elysia lay on Kevin's shoulder, sighing contentedly. "This is perfect," she whispered, gazing up at the starry sky.

Mei, sitting across from them, smiled softly. "We don't get to do this often, do we? Just… enjoy the moment."

Mobius, usually the one focused on work, found herself relaxing too. "It's nice… being with all of you like this," she admitted, her voice quieter than usual.

Kevin looked at each of them, his heart swelling with a deep sense of contentment. "We should do this more often," he said, his voice full of warmth.

The night continued peacefully, the four of them enjoying the simple pleasure of being together but Kevin and elysia soon notice some movements.

They heard the splashing of water, a subtle sign that someone was near. The tranquility of the night shattered as a figure emerged from the lake, aiming directly at Mei with deadly intent.

Before the attacker could reach her, Kevin moved with lightning speed, his fist connecting with the assailant in a powerful blow that sent him flying back into the lake. The force of the punch was so intense that it sent a wave of water crashing back into the lake, alerting the others to the danger.

"That guy is unusual, just like the reports," one of the attackers murmured from the shadows.

" Their target is Mei," Kevin stated calmly, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the situation.

A voice from the darkness responded, "So you know."

Four figures, all clad in black from head to toe, emerged, encircling Kevin and the others.

One had already been taken down by Kevin, but the remaining three were quick to take up positions, their weapons gleaming in the moonlight.

Gunshots echoed through the night. Elysia quickly conjured a barrier, protecting Mei and Mobius, while Kevin used his Void Authority to teleport away from the immediate danger, reappearing at the lake shore.

"They've vanished!" one of the attackers shouted, panic creeping into his voice.

"Thoae bastard send Assassins to eliminate Mei," Kevin thought to himself, his mind racing with possibilities.

"Elysia, protect Mei and Mobius," Kevin ordered.

"Hai!" Elysia replied, her voice firm as she tightened her grip on her weapon.

The attackers, now surrounding Kevin and the others, advanced with their weapons drawn.

Kevin disappeared from their sight again, only to reappear behind one of them, his icy lances impaling one assailant while Elysia knocked another out with a swift strike.

From behind, a girl with a katana lunged at Kevin, aiming for his neck. He caught the blade between two fingers, stopping it effortlessly.

"Monster!" she hissed and Kevin sent her flying with a back slap that knocked her into a cluster of trees.

He had held back, recognizing her as Sakura, who would one day become their ally.

Both Mobius and Mei's anger flared as they saw the weapons the attackers wielded, recognizing them as MOTH-issued gear. It was a clear sign that someone in the higher-ups was involved.

Elysia approached the unconscious girl and removed her mask, revealing a beautiful face. She then turned to Kevin with a teasing smile, "Kevin, you shouldn't beat up cute girls."

"Seriously, Elysia?" Mei was speechless, while Mobius could only sigh at the situation.

"Indeed," Kevin said with a laugh. "Because of your influence, I just knocked her out."

Before Kevin could enjoy the moment, he felt a light slap on the back of his head.

"At least take this seriously," Mei scolded, though there was a hint of relief in her voice.

Elysia grinned, enjoying the playful banter as she added, "But Kevin, if you keep knocking out all the cute ones, who will be left for us to make friends with?"

Kevin chuckled, shaking his head. "Only you, Elysia, could turn an assassination attempt into a conversation about friendship."

Mobius then informed MOTH soldiers and both assassin's got taken and put into prison.
