Chapter 21: Confrontation and Connections
As I entered one of the restaurants selected by my secretary, I noticed a party taking place in a private room. It was hosted by the second generation of a wealthy but second-rate family.
A commotion erupted as the young master of the Wu family clashed with Lin Yang, who was accompanied by Yin Ren Tang's secretary, Su Xin. I recalled this scene: it was how the protagonist discovered his ex-classmate had found his deceased family and arranged a proper funeral for them. She had brought him here to establish connections for his startup company.
I was intrigued to witness this unfolding drama. Standing back, I watched the protagonist as he attempted to beg for mercy while showing off his power to intimidate the bodyguards and other young masters. Just as it seemed he might be killed, I stepped forward and shouted, "You're really a wild dog in this society, huh, Lin Yang?"
Lin Yang, poised to kill, faltered at my voice and turned to look at me. I noticed Su Xin's fearful expression as she glanced at me. I smirked and said, "Oh, look who it is—the so-called cold CEO's secretary, with a guard who is the reason for the cold CEO's downfall. Hahaha!"
I walked closer to Lin Yang, taunting him. "So, now you're going to sell her out to the second-rate family young masters to kickstart your so-called startup?"
Su Xin was taken aback by my words, and when the others caught on, they burst into laughter. One of them chimed in, "Yes, Young Master Ye King, you're right! He made a deal to taste the cold CEO's secretary and establish a helping hand by solidifying his foundation."
Without glancing at Lin Yang, I addressed Su Xin. "Oh wow, I didn't know Miss Su was friends with people who would sell their friends for personal gain. You promised to help Yin Ren Tang escape from his clutches, but you were wrong to think she'd go anywhere with someone of such low character."
Su Xin's horrified expression deepened. "No, no! I'm not like that! Please believe me, Young Master Ye King!" Tears started to form in her eyes.
I replied, "Why should I believe you? All these lowly young masters claim this is a deal made by Lin Yang, and you're saying you don't know anything? I don't believe that."
Lin Yang seethed. "How dare you criticize her, you bastard! You're going to die!" He lunged forward to punch me.
I slapped him hard, saying, "Stay in your limits!" He staggered back, coughing blood in shock.
I turned back to Su Xin. "Your cold CEO's company will merge with mine and the others. You'll start working for me tomorrow, and your boss's company will become my subsidiary. I'll send you the location of my new mansion. You'll be moving in with me and the other girls."
