Capítulo 10: White Reaper

[HYDRA Base, Siberia]

Two years had passed in the blink of an eye.

At a concealed base nestled in the mountains of Eastern Siberia, rain drizzled lightly outside. Beneath the dark night sky, an eerie stillness enveloped the surroundings, making the already dark atmosphere more gloomy by minute.

Spotlights atop the outpost tower scanned the area back and forth vigilantly, while guards, fully armed and tense, kept watch with utmost seriousness.

It should have been another routine day for the base's guards, shielded from the knowledge of its location, even from SHIELD. Instead, nervousness and fear gripped their heart tightly. Their hands clenched tightly around their guns as they glanced upwards time to time, as though they were afraid of something coming from the sky.

Then, their worst fears turned into reality.

Boom

A golden light plummeted from above, crashing into the heart of the base, shaking it to its core. The sheer force from the golden light landing sent tremors rippling through every corner. A torrential rush of air swept in all directions, knocking nearby soldiers unconscious, flinging them meters away.

As guards trained their weapons on the center where the golden light descended, amidst the dissipating smoke and dust, they saw a figure with striking white hair in place of the golden light emerging from the aftermath.

"It's the WHITE REAPER!" cried out one guard in terror, triggering a long, piercing siren that echoed throughout the entire base.

Woooong

The rhythmic blare of the alarm jolted every soul within the compound.

Amidst the chaos going throughout the base, hundreds of heavily armed soldiers swiftly mobilized, encircling the site with weapons aimed and fingers poised on triggers. Anti-aircraft machine guns atop sentry towers were manned, ready to stop the figure from taking flight again.

Misty and light rain slowly dispersed the dust and smoke, casting an ethereal glow under the overhead lights. Amidst the clearing, at the crash sight, a tall, imposing figure came into view.

As the soldiers tensed further, the base leader and several deputies nervously watched the scene. Bathed in the spotlight from several high-powered lamps, the identity of the figure finally came into view.

He stood approximately 1.8 meters tall, his only visible feature, white hair tousled by the wind, while his body is covered by a black jacket upon an oversized hoodie, complemented by black tights and black sneakers. A sword hung loosely at his back and his face was covered by a kitsune mask. Although his features were hidden except for the white hair, he still exuded an aura of undeniable presence.

"Damn it, it's really him, that monster," the base leader muttered under his breath, his pupils contracting at the sight of the intruder. He quickly ordered a soldier near him. "Quickly contact the mercenaries that their service is requested immediately. It's no longer within our capability to stop this monster." The soldier nodded and quickly went to relay the message.

As the commander of the HYDRA sub-base, he naturally has access to some insider information, not to mention the monster in front of him was widely renown among everyone in HYDRA.

Two years prior, a child at a testing facility had suddenly manifested abilities, breached the base, and escaped with a dozen other children. Baron Strucker had been elated, mobilizing his forces in a fervent pursuit, even manipulating the government to stop monitor airports and other, even the news regarding the escapees were swiftly buried to prevent interruption, yet the search yielded no leads over the course of a grueling year and a half.

This failure left Baron Strucker seething with anger.

Then, just half a year ago, that same child resurfaced, launching a sudden assault on one of their bases. During the raid, the boy unleashed powers akin to a natural disaster—his body shifting into light and darting in all directions at uncatchable speeds. A golden particle beam from him were capable of effortlessly destroying a building, with the destructive force comparable to a TNT blast.

Noah, the boy's name, single-handedly destroyed their entire base, earning him the nickname White Reaper because of his only visible feature, his white hair.

His return fueled Baron Strucker's rage even further, mingled with a fanatical fascination. The commander couldn't fathom how the boy had grown so exponentially powerful in just eighteen months. That incident forced Baron Strucker to rally the entire HYDRA network in Eastern Europe for an unprecedented manhunt for a single target.

Yet, once again, they came up empty-handed.

After each devastating raid, Noah vanished without a trace, leaving Baron Stella not just wounded but utterly shattered by the relentless onslaught.

Consequently, word spread swiftly among the remaining HYDRA bases in Eastern Europe. Each base fortified its defenses, deploying close-range weaponry and implementing comprehensive defense protocols to fend off the unstoppable force that was the White Reaper.

Although they already expected to be attacked today, since after cross checking the data present in the destroyed bases, they had concluded that this base was the next optimal target and they have even used a huge amount of resources to gather outside reinforcement but still they didn't expect the target to come in so brazenly, seemingly without any plans.

This very target had plunged all of HYDRA into a state of panic. Rumor had it that Baron Strucker himself had fled because of him, abandoning even his fortified castle base for fear of revenge. Even the base commander doesn't want to associate with the target.

But he was helpless against the higher ups order, so he could only vent his frustrations mentally.

"This monster simply tore through our defenses," he muttered. "The fate of our past bases already proves that ordinary weapons are useless against him."

And now...

"Excuse me, gentlemen. If you would kindly lay down your weapons and cease resistance, we can skip the needless fighting or do you have any surprises stored for me, like that base full of mutant suppression devices." came a calm voice from the center.

The commander turned his head slightly and faced the kitsune mask of the target.

Two years had transformed the boy from the fifteen-year-old boy they once knew. Through rigorous training, he had grown to match the height of an adult, his demeanor now exuding a confidence and temperament far beyond his years.

Facing a sea of guns pointed at him, Noah remained composed. His unwavering calm stemmed from his belief in his own abilities.

On the other hand, the soldiers too didn't lower their weapons. As HYDRA fighters, their minds had already been conditioned to fear nothing but failure to obey orders.

Glancing at the cold, expressionless faces of the HYDRA soldiers, Noah couldn't help but marvel inwardly at HYDRA's brainwashing. HYDRA's brainwashing techniques surpassed even the most effective psychological manipulations, a testament to their organizational prowess.

After scanning around, Noah's gaze settled on the base commander, distinct in his atypical attire among the soldiers.

"It appears you are the Commander of this HYDRA base." Noah remarked evenly.

"Yes, Code 69, your strength is indeed formidable. But instead of being hostile, you should be thankful to HYDRA for granting you these abilities." the commander replied loudly from behind his troops, attempting persuasion.

Noah scoffed at the attempt.

Seeing Noah's unchanged expression, the commander realized his approach was futile. Nevertheless, he pressed on, now resorting to threats.

"No one in HYDRA fears death. Your power is growing, but all we can do is face you with everything we have." The commander continued. "Although our weapons are useless against you that doesn't mean we don't have other ways to deal with you."

The commander smiled confidently, then Noah sensed someone approaching from behind using his Observation Haki. He swiftly dodged the attack without effort, letting the assailant pass by him.

Seeing the failed attack, the newcomer didn't seem surprised and remarked, "I guess this explains the big reward."

Noah stayed calm, absorbing the implication. The mention of a reward highlighted the seriousness of his threat to HYDRA.

The commander, regaining his composure, added defiantly, "Let's see what will you do against someone with abilities like you?"

Noah remained silent, assessing the tense situation as both sides prepared their next moves.
