CH 3° The Enoch Innitiative
Although Dr. Marie couldn't see it, a sense of urgency could be seen in Aldritch's eyes, he knew he had to hurry, there was no way he was going to let his most prized creation fall into the hands of a greedy politician.
Although this was not Helix Foundation's first dealings with the government, and like other times in the past he saw an opportunity and he took it.
Five years ago Helix Foundation was approached by the government, and proposed collaborated research, Aldrich was skeptical at first, but that all changed when he was handed a wooden canister containing a strange red mercury-like substance.
It was the most bizarre thing he had ever seen, the strange red fluid holds the most energy he had ever seen.
As if someone took the energy of 100 billion kilowatts worth of energy and compressed it into a liquid state.
Some elements contained within this substance were not on the periodic table, they were completely alien.
There isn't a single known instrument or container to hold this much amount of energy, humans weren't that advanced yet, however the strange wooden container seems to do it just fine.
It had to be known that 100 billion kilowatts worth of energy can power the whole of New York City, from industries, residents, train stations, and power plants, all of it for more than an hour.
Aldrich made attempts to inquire about the origin of the red Fluid, but the case was termed classified, so he stopped asking.
For five years Aldrich collected data on this strange substance and discovered something even more bizarre, the strange substance was alive, and while some of the elements within it were unrecognizable, it held massive amounts of photo-hormones.
While the red fluid was considered dangerous it had incredible healing properties, if used correctly of course.
This was what changed everything for Aldrich.
To find a cure to his ailment Aldrich went to many lengths, even indulging himself in Mysticsm, Chinese manuscripts, African vodo, yoga, and even ancient Hindu texts such as the Padma Purana and various other Sanskrit, he had a profound understanding of ancient knowledge and wisdom, but they all fell in their promises.
The Red mercury was a game changer, the Helix Foundations has been working on a new technology,
The Enoch Initiative (THE E. I)
The significance of this new technology was groundbreaking, Upon completion 'The E I' will be able to do amazing things for Aldrich, and the whole of humanity.
One of its most notable capabilities would be the ability to alter and edit genes within the gene pool.
Removing unwanted DNA and adding in new and better DNA from other humans.
'The Enoch' will be able to take the DNA of a jellyfish and add it to that of a human, with one hundred percent efficiency perfection, with almost no drawbacks.
Aldrich theorizes that with the density of a certain gene within the gene pool, a human will be able to regrow lost limbs like a jellyfish could. This was essentially playing God, the possibilities were endless for him.
Aldrich had had this idea since he was in college and has been making plans, he created the Helix Foundation for this purpose.
Helix Foundation would never reveal such a project to the outside world or the government.
However merely three years after the feds handed him the red substance and seemingly no result, they threatened to cut his funding and seize the fluid from Helix Foundation, left with no other choice Aldrich revealed "The E. I" to his sponsors.
With the Gene editing cat out of the bag he once again won their trust and support, there was no way the American government was passing on something like this.
With the ability to alter and edit the human Genome, they could potentially control the world.
Aldrich wasn't stupid, he had his plans and when the 'The Enoch' was finally complete will be the time to act that time was now, there was no way he was going to let his prized creation fall into the hands of men with power.

Aldrich finally answered her, of everyone who works or has ever worked with him, Marie was one of the smartest but also the most gullible. he could always use her love for science to spark her interest.
Like him, she was also obsessed with understanding the human genome, but unlike her, his obsession was fuelled with years of distress and pain, her obsession is purely out of love, it took almost no effort from Aldrich to poach her from her previous company to join in on his work.
