Capítulo 6: chapter 6: Shinji's mangekyo pupil technique

Shion's surprised gaze told Shinji that she had witnessed the fierce battle with the hand demon.

In other words, his "Susano'o" had been exposed, and hiding the secret of the Mangekyo Sharingan was now difficult.

Shion seemed oblivious to Shinji's inner turmoil as she inspected him with admiration.

"Do you intend to kill me?" she asked.

Shinji couldn't decide.

Suddenly, as if sensing Shinji's murderous intent, the small bell hanging from Shion's chest emitted a dazzling light.

"What's this?"

Feeling threatened, Shinji stepped back.

Others might not know, but Shinji understood the witches of the Ghost Kingdom well.

The small bell on Shion's chest was a powerful magical weapon.

It appeared to protect Shion, but its true purpose was to seal her priestess powers, preventing young Shion from inadvertently harming those around her.

In essence, it was a restraint disguised as a protective charm.

To kill Shion, Shinji would need to destroy the bell. Yet, doing so would unleash the unsealed Ghost Kingdom maiden.

Silence wasn't an option.

Though Shion was a novice shrine maiden now, Shinji pondered if his "Susano'o" could withstand Shion's sealing technique. After all, the witches of the Demon Kingdom possessed the ability to seal monsters of tailed beast-level power.

Ignoring the risks wasn't feasible.

So he turned to illusion, fixing his gaze on Shion, activating his Mangekyo Sharingan, and implanting a psychological suggestion in her mind: "You haven't seen me."

Instantly, Shion froze, repeating mechanically, "I haven't seen anything. I haven't seen anything."

"Did it work?"

After observing for a moment, Shinji silently breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, Shion's time under the witch's seal was brief. Otherwise, implanting such a suggestion with his imperfect Mangekyo Sharingan illusion would have been extremely challenging.

Still, he didn't feel entirely secure.

If he encountered Shion again in the future, there was a high chance she might recall this memory.

Fortunately, as a maiden of the Ghost Kingdom, Shion rarely left the Ghost Kingdom, making a chance encounter unlikely in the near term.

At that moment, a distant fire reflected in the night sky signaled a large group of torch-bearing guards rushing toward the palace in haste.

Evidently, these were reinforcements from other areas of the Ghost Kingdom.

As Shinji pondered how to return to Konoha Village, he vanished into thin air with a swift movement.

Finding himself in a familiar room, Shinji realized he had returned.

The wall clock showed about thirty minutes had passed.

This was around the time he had witnessed the hand demon slaughtering guards and subsequently defeated it.

In other words, he had teleported to the area where the hand demon had invaded—the palace of the Ghost Kingdom (witches)—and returned instantly after the battle.

It resembled the "Flying Thunder God Technique" in some ways.

"Ah!"

A sudden stabbing pain shot through both his eyes.

Enduring the agony, Shinji quickly deactivated his Mangekyo Sharingan, the scarlet eyes returning to their usual black.

After a while, the pain subsided.

Exhaling deeply, Shinji's expression turned grim.

Activating "Susano'o" had consumed too much this time. If repeated, his Mangekyo Sharingan would become useless.

During the life-and-death struggle, he hadn't considered the consequences of using "Susano'o."

The intense pain in his eyes had reminded him that the Mangekyo Sharingan was a finite resource.

Pressing his forehead, Shinji sat on the bed.

The recent incursion by a demon from the Demon Slayer world meant the likelihood of another demon attack was high.

But he wasn't specialized in demon combat.

Defeating the hand demon had relied on crude methods.

After initially using "Susano'o" to shatter it, Shinji had confirmed through detailed Mangekyo Sharingan insight that the regenerating hand demon had diminished.

This indicated that while demons could regenerate, they required flesh and blood to do so.

Repeatedly inflicting devastating blows in a short span, preventing such regeneration, could weaken a demon beyond recovery due to energy depletion.

However, this tactic suited bloated hand demons but might fail against agile, tactically astute demons.

"We need a definitive method to restrain demons."

Beheading with a Nichirin sword was effective but finding the special ore to forge such a blade in the ninja world was uncertain.

Wisteria flowers weren't found in Konoha, and demons didn't invade during daylight hours.

"If demons fear sunlight, would 'Amaterasu,' known as the Flame of the Sun, work against them?"

Shinji contemplated "Amaterasu," the Mangekyo Sharingan's ocular technique.

Its black flames burned endlessly, consuming everything.

Though it might not specifically restrain demons like sunlight, it could engulf them, ensuring their annihilation.

Unfortunately, Shinji's Mangekyo Sharingan lacked "Amaterasu."

Scratching his head, he considered his current ocular technique, "Susano'o Zun Lamp."

Named for "Susano'o," it required activating "Susano'o" first.

Unlike common ninjutsu and illusion techniques such as "Amaterasu" and "Tsukuyomi," "Susano'o Zun Lamp" was a rare functional ocular technique.

With "Susano'o" and "Susano'o Zun Lamp" simultaneously active, Shinji's "Susano'o" phantom could control a second pair of eyes—empty sockets symbolizing an additional pair of eyes.

This technique likely symbolized Sharingan's synthesis between the original user and himself—the wanderer.

In Shinji's view, it was potent, albeit unusable without a second pair of eyes.

Currently, his Mangekyo Sharingan was a blank slate, only capable of "Susano'o."

Compared to one-eyed Mangekyo techniques like "Amaterasu," "Susano'o" placed greater strain on the body and ocular energy.

Continuing to rely solely on "Susano'o" would exhaust him quickly.

Shinji organized his thoughts, seeking solutions.

There were options.

The most straightforward was evolving his Mangekyo Sharingan into Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan by finding close relatives' eyes.

This required obtaining a second pair of Mangekyo Sharingan eyes to control with "Susano'o Zun Lamp," providing more usable ocular techniques.

Considering the current Ninja World's Mangekyo Sharingan holders, Shinji counted four pairs besides his own.

One of Obito's pair was with Kakashi, while Danzo held one of Shisui's eyes, leaving Itachi with the other.

Among them, Fugaku's pair intrigued Shinji.

Fugaku had never revealed his Mangekyo Sharingan, leading to its likely unnoticed status when confiscated by the village.

This eye pair's guard might not be too formidable.

Shinji had witnessed the Uchiha Clan's Sharingan collection that night, seeing the medical team remove eyes for preservation.

Harvesting so many Sharingan simultaneously likely lessened their value.

Thus, among the four pairs, Fugaku's seemed the most accessible and likely for Shinji's success.

"First, I need to locate where the village sealed the Sharingan."

Though urgent, Shinji knew rushing this investigation risked failure and entanglement.

Improving his physique and ninjutsu remained paramount.

As thoughts swirled, exhaustion overtook him, and sleepiness crept in.

After the battle's adrenaline ebbed, fatigue set in heavily.

End of chapter.
