Xavier kissed Leila again with devotion as if he were swearing his words with his life as a ransom. Leila felt like she had broken through a certain barrier in her heart by sharing something she never thought she knew made her vulnerable.
There was a certain kind of power in being able to be vulnerable after a life of being guarded. She hoped that regardless of the problems they faced in the future, they would be able to keep being open about the good, the bad and the messy.
Her lips stretched into a smile as Xavier kissed her. His hands tightened on her hips, his lengthened claws running lightly on them in a caress. She squirmed almost uncomfortably against the wall as she was drowning in a euphoric pleasure.
"What are you thinking about?" Xavier said against her lips.
"The weather," Leila teased. "Lake City is a little unseasonably cold, don't you think?"
