Capítulo 33: Exploring Konoha

Kaizen's week continued with a comforting routine. Each morning, he woke at dawn, his mornings dedicated to a rigorous training regimen, blending physical exercises, chakra control, studying, and meditation. He felt his strength and stamina begin to increase a little, noting slightly more defined muscles as well as a small height increase.

After training, he would eat breakfast as normal. To his surprise, some of his classmates began to join him in this routine. They would talk about the day ahead and their various degrees of progress with techniques or study material.

Classes at the academy were the same blend of academic learning and physical training. Kaizen was beginning to find himself outpacing the class's curriculum. It was something he expected, although perhaps not so quickly.

One of the notable events during the week was the distribution of school uniforms. The excitement was palpable as Class 1-A gathered to receive their new attire. The uniforms were a symbol of their status as year one academy students, and the pride in the room was tangible. The past one and a half weeks had the first-year students watching upperclassmen in envy as they already had their cool looking uniforms.

Another significant moment came when Kakashi approached Kaizen after class one day.

Kakashi relayed a message from his father, Sakumo. "My father wants to discuss your training plans this Sunday," he said, his eyes steady and voice calm.

Kaizen nodded, feeling a bit of curiosity. Everything seemed so secretive when mentioned in this way. It made him miss the cell phones and ease of communication from his past life.

On Saturday, Hiroshi Sensei gathered the class for an important announcement. "At the end of the month, there will be a taijutsu tournament."

"The results could affect your class placements, so I expect everyone to give their best effort."

This announcement sparked a buzz of excitement and anxiousness among the students. First academics, now class to class competitions? Some of the already stressed students sank further into their chairs upon hearing this.

Kaizen felt indifferent. He didn't expect to find any challenges in combat until aspects other than taijutsu became involved. However, this tournament was a chance to further prove himself. Even though he gained the recognition of Sakumo and the principal, there were still the clan heads, upper management of the village, and the hokage himself.

Kaizen wouldn't be doing so out of something as diminutive as pride, but for something else entirely. It's nothing more than a continuation of his plans, where recognition of talent and character garners respect. And where respect comes opportunities.

It is to be expected that there will be those who look down on Kaizen or become jealous. He wouldn't even be surprised if people plan to target him in the future whether in a childish manner like bullying or in more sinister ways like Danzo or Orochimaru's methods.

As mentioned before, his plan is a calculated risk. There will always be uncertainties in a world like this regardless of the path chosen. Circumstances and possibilities can change as often as the weather in a world ruled by superhuman ninjas.

'At least my plan has achieved some level of success so far. Becoming a student of Sakumo should prove useful. However, if this world follows a similar timeline of events as the official series, then Sakumo would take his own life in the next two or three years…'

'Just when I want to consider my own happiness, I need to take care of others first. I'll need to try and figure out a way to prevent that event from happening. It has too many negative implications for the future. At the very least, I should have a heads up of the events surrounding it since I am his official student now.'

Sunday soon came as the day appeared clear and bright, a perfect opportunity for exploration. Kaizen wouldn't be traveling with Kakashi this time, so he left the academy early, eager to take in more of the village before his meeting with Sakumo.

As he stepped onto the bustling streets of Konoha, he was once again struck by the village's sheer size and the vibrancy of its people.

'Other than the lacking technological aspects, this place has the feel of a modern city with its taller buildings, busy streets, and immense populace. If other hidden villages are similar to this, it would make for a pretty easy way to hide or blend in. I would just need to develop counters to commonly used sensing techniques…'

'Ah, why am I even thinking about that kind of thing right now. Old habits die hard I suppose, but I'm not even anywhere near ready to perform my past occupation within this world.'

Kaizen sighed, there were so many things to accomplish, and he didn't know if he would be ready for the events ahead. He could only appreciate the time he was afforded and do his best, living with the results that followed.

While he was exploring, it appeared that everywhere he looked, there was something new to see. Vendors shouted from their stalls, offering a variety of goods ranging anywhere from fresh produce to intricate weapons. He found the dichotomy to be a bit comical as a smile formed on his face.

'Such an interesting world. Makes me want to explore outside the known continent at some point in the future. Surely there is much to discover.'

The aroma of street food filled the air, a tempting mix of savory and sweet that almost made Kaizen want to eat a second breakfast. He suppressed such desires as he navigated through the crowd, absorbing the sights and sounds, feeling a sense of awe at the liveliness around him.

Kaizen's footsteps led him through several districts, each with its own unique character. Some of the residential areas were calm and orderly, with neat rows of houses and well-tended gardens. Children played in the streets, their laughter echoing through the alleys. In contrast, the commercial districts were a flurry of activity, with shops and stalls crammed together, each vying for attention.

As he wandered, Kaizen couldn't help but think about the destructive power of top-tier shinobi like Pain. He remembered the devastation depicted in the manga and wondered how such destruction could be possible here. The village seemed so vast, so full of life, that imagining it reduced to rubble was almost beyond his current comprehension.

The only equivalent he could relate it to would be nuclear weaponry, but it still felt completely foreign to him for an individual to be capable of wielding such power themselves. As he reflected on the strength of the combatants in this world, he recognized that his understanding of their abilities would most likely be incomplete. At least, he would be best served to operate under that assumption.

Lost in thought, Kaizen realized that he had barely scratched the surface of Konoha even after half an hour of exploring. The village was far more extensive than he had imagined from reading the manga. It was a sobering reminder of the scale of the world.

He sighed once again, contemplating the timeline of events he knew from the manga. There were roughly 22 years until the beginning of the original story, a period filled with some critical events that could shape the future of the village and its inhabitants.

Despite this introspection, Kaizen decided to remain grounded in the present.

'All of these are assumptions at this point anyways. Given the differences I have witnessed thus far, I am not so sure the characters will be as incompetent as they were in the story. With that being said, there is no author here to provide plot armor to different characters. Everything here will be determined by skill, circumstance, and a bit of luck.'

Deciding he had explored enough for now, Kaizen turned his steps towards the Hatake clan estate. As he made his way there, he couldn't help but notice the friendly interactions among the villagers, the sense of community that pervaded the air. It was a sharp contrast to the solitary life he had known before, and it filled him with a sense of warmth and hope.

It also impressed him, considering the war that only recently concluded. Other than the increased shinobi patrols and police presence, you wouldn't really be able to tell that there had been a war.

To Kaizen, this spoke volumes of the village's leadership; being able to effectively control narratives as well as their ability to both foster and maintain a sense of peace and hope among civilians.

Continuing to make observations as he traveled, Kaizen's journey through the village eventually brought him to the gates of the Hatake clan estate.

The entrance was marked by a simple yet elegant archway, flanked by meticulously tended gardens. The shinobi guarding the entrance both recognized him and welcomed Kaizen with a smile, offering him a handshake and well wishes.

He smiled back, speaking a few pleasantries with them, showcasing a genuine and caring personality for their wellbeing. After some small talk, he stepped through the gate and was greeted by a tranquil ambiance that pervaded the entire estate. The paths were lined with smooth stones, and the air was filled with the gentle rustling of leaves and the soft chirping of birds.

Members of the Hatake clan moved about their daily routines, offering Kaizen warm smiles and polite nods as he passed. The atmosphere here was one of quiet respect and discipline, a common theme that Kaizen noticed with this clan. He felt a sense of peace settle over him as he made his way towards the training grounds.

The sound of training soon reached his ears before he saw the source. The rhythmic thud of practice weapons and the sharp exhalations of breath indicated a rigorous session underway. As Kaizen approached, he caught sight of Sakumo Hatake, the White Fang of the Leaf, guiding his son Kakashi through a series of drills.
