Capítulo 70: I'd win!

With the start of the match, Ling Yun attacked first. He focused intently, aimed his sword, and slashed through the air with all his might, unleashing his full power right from the start.

Unlike the casual attitude he had shown against Xiao Kuangyu; now, he was completely serious, every fiber of his being dedicated to the fight.

*Xiao sect's names are very confusing! Kuangyu, Kuanglei, Kuangfeng, Kuangyun.*

Following his sword slashes, profound energy surged and formed numerous swords in the air and shot toward Wu Xuexin. They were fast and sharp, cutting through the air with a piercing sound that echoed around the arena.

Facing this ferocious attack, Wu Xuexin was calm and composed. She didn't make a move, merely breathing lightly. Suddenly, a gust of frosty air swept across the entire arena.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

When the swords were less than a meter from her, they froze mid-flight, shattering into icy sparks that scattered through the air.

The Frozen Cloud Art may be trash tier, but it was ultimately created based on the Ice Phoenix God Investiture Canon aka Frozen End Divine Arts. Its most basic ability is to freeze the profound energy of enemies.

After Yun Wuji read the Ice Phoenix God Investiture Canon, he improved the Frozen Cloud Art once again, making it even stronger. It also possesses most of the properties of the Ice Phoenix God Investiture Canon.

Back then, when Mu Bingyun lost her memories and established the Frozen Cloud Immortal Palace, she discovered that none of her disciples could cultivate the Frozen End Divine Arts. So, in the end, she spent seven days creating the Frozen Cloud Art.

Seeing this, Ling Yun's expression fell. Although he expected Wu Xuexin to be very strong, when she froze his attack so easily, he still felt immense pressure from her casual response.

The scattered frost gathered and formed an icy lotus.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

'Her control has reached such a level at such a young age!' Ling Yun thought inwardly, shocked, as he thrust his sword multiple times in a split second, stabbing into the ice lotus.

The lotus shattered into pieces.

Seeing this, Ling Yun sighed in relief and was about to launch his attack when he noticed the shattered lotus transform into countless solid chunks of ice, raining down toward him like an icy storm.

In an instant, the storm carrying the shattered ice lotus swirled around the two, sweeping up a tornado of ice and snow.

"Shit! Are these ice shards endless?!" Ling Yun cursed in his mind and quickly attacked, defending himself.

Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!

Amidst the string of colliding and breaking sounds, Ling Yun blows the dispersed ice flakes away. However, the cold energy within them was far heavier than he had imagined. After he cleared away all the ice flakes, both his hands were thoroughly flushed red from the cold, only fully recovering after a few seconds.

But he didn't have time to worry about that, as four more icy lotuses appeared.

Profound sword energy gathered around him, and he quickly dodged the lotuses. At the same time, his profound energy formed multiple swords, striking the lotuses and destroying one of them. His movements were fast and nimble as he moved around the arena, trying to get closer to Wu Xuexin while destroying her attacks.

As he moved, more and more icy lotuses, ice cones, and frosty air attacked him. He resisted the attacks and rushed forward, but whenever he got close, the attacks intensified, forcing him to retreat.

This continued for a while, and the arena was nearly covered by a layer of ice. Ling Yun could clearly feel the coldness seeping up from the ground beneath him.

'This can't go on,' Ling Yun thought. He was completely at a disadvantage, losing the initiative. Under the continuous attacks, he lost the tempo of the battle and could only defend passively. New ice lotuses continued to appear whenever he was close to completely destroying one; more would emerge.

On the other hand, Wu Xuexin was quite surprised by Ling Yun's strength. He was only at the 9th level of the Spirit Profound Realm, yet his combat power surpassed most in the 10th level. Although she appeared casual, she was already using 60% of her strength, and to her surprise, she still hadn't defeated him.

'I am not skilled in defense. If I continue like this, the frost energy will keep accumulating, and I'll lose in the end,' Ling Yun thought, his expression becoming firm. With his mother, brother, and the other sect members watching, he couldn't afford to lose this time!

He needed to avenge the humiliation brought upon them by the Frozen Cloud sect!

He would avenge the shame inflicted on his father and the injuries his grandfather suffered!

He would win, no matter what!

Many people believed in him! He had their support!

For their sake, he would defeat the woman in front of him!

For love and justice!

With a firm mind and unwavering determination, profound energy and sword intent surged around him. Ling Yun's sword suddenly transformed into a streak of light, streaking toward Wu Xuexin. As it flew, the sword's brilliance multiplied, splitting from one into two, then three, five, ten, and more—until there were dozens, then over a hundred! In the blink of an eye, a vast sword formation blanketed the sky, descending like a meteor shower, enveloping Wu Xuexin in an unstoppable storm of blades.

Heaven's Might Sword Formation —— Heavenly Star Frenzy!

This was his most powerful move, a technique that no one in the Spirit Profound Realm could defend against!

With this formation, even if he faced someone in the Earth Profound Realm, he could hold his own for several moves.

He brimmed with confidence, certain that victory was within his grasp. He wanted to turn around and wave at his mother and brother, but he held back, it would be even more glorious once he claimed his victory. The only regret he had was that his father and grandfather weren't here to witness his triumphant moment.

'Although her ice caused me some trouble, I'd still win,' he thought, glancing at his body covered in a thin layer of frost.

As he was about to command the sword formation, a chilling wave of frost energy surged around him from both the left and right. He looked around, dumbfounded, as he saw his sword formation freezing at an incredible speed. Panic surged through him as he shouted, wanting to resist, but it was futile. All he could do was watch helplessly as his strongest attack became encased in ice, its brilliance extinguished in an instant.

"No!" he shouted, but his voice was swallowed by the overwhelming cold. After freezing the sword formation, the ice didn't stop; it surged toward him from both sides, encasing him as well. He stood there, a popsicle in the middle of a frozen sea of swords, immobilized and helpless.

Everything had happened so fast. One moment, he was envisioning his glorious victory and the sweet taste of revenge for his sect and family. The next, he became a statue of ice, his dreams shattered in an instant.

"Yun'er!" Xuanyuan Yufeng stood up abruptly, her voice filled with panic as she shouted.

"Big brother!" Ling Jie also jumped to his feet, disbelief etched across his face.

Ling Wugon was equally taken aback. One moment, he had thought that with his eldest young master unleashing the sword formation, victory was within reach. But in the blink of an eye, the tide had turned. He quickly ended the match and rushed forward to save Ling Yun. "Stop! Wu Xuexin, you win!"

"..." Wu Xuexin nodded and left the arena.

At that moment, as she stepped away, the ice surrounding Ling Yun shattered, falling away like a veil.

'I... I lost!' His final thought echoed in his mind before he collapsed to the ground. He thought that if he pushed himself to the limit he would win; unfortunately for him, he wasn't the protagonist, and he couldn't use Nakama power or summon his plot armor.

Ling Wugon quickly held him and took him to the healers. He turned around and looked at the seats where Frozen Cloud sat before sighing deeply.

From now on, Immortal Frozen Cloud would be the strongest in the empire for a very long time.

Unbeknownst to him, soon, Frozen Cloud wouldn't just be the strongest in this tiny empire, but in the entire planet.

"Guardian Yun Wuji, I won! When can I get my reward?" Wu Xuexin asked cheekily as she returned, her icy demeanor completely vanished.

"Good job, though you could've finished the fight earlier; you wasted so much word count," Yun Wuji said, patting her head. He then added, "You'll get your reward later after the tournament."

"Okay!" Wu Xuexin said and sat next to him.

After quickly sending Ling Yun to the healers under the care of his mother and brother, Ling Wugon returned and announced the third match, "Third match, Shui Wushuang vs. Ling Feiyu, step into the arena!"

Soon, both contestants stepped into the arena. The battle ended quickly. Unlike Wu Xuexin, Shui Wushuang didn't drag things out for long, and Ling Feiyu was also weaker than Ling Yun, so the fight ended in less than two moves.

After that was the final match of the quarterfinals.

Ling Fan vs. Xiao Kuanglei.

Ling Fan completely dominated Xiao Kuanglei; he was at the 10th level Profound Realm, while his opponent was only at the 8th level Profound Realm.

The next day was the semi-finals.

Mu Lingxue vs. Wu Xuexin.

Shui Wushuang vs. Ling Fan.

The first fight ended quickly, as Wu Xuexin conceded, allowing Mu Lingxue to move directly to the finals. In the second fight, Shui Wushuang defeated Ling Fan.

After winning, Shui Wushuang conceded immediately without waiting for the next day for the finals, so for the first time in the history of the Blue Wind Ranking Tournament, the champion was decided without a fight.

Capítulo 71: Welcome to the darkside

The finals were anticlimactic. Although the audience knew what to expect, they still couldn't help but feel disappointed when Shui Wushuang conceded without even waiting for the day of the finals.

Next came the award ceremony, where the first, second, and third places were all taken by the Frozen Cloud Immortal Palace.

That day, Ling Yuefeng finally showed his face. He visited his son to check on his injuries and sent the guests away. After the end of the tournament, only the top ten participants remained to explore the Heaven Basin Secret Realm.

At night, he walked around with his hands clasped behind his back, deep in thought. The image of Chu Yuechan kept flashing in his mind, and with it came the sinister face of Yun Wuji, his smile sending a chill down his spine. He sighed, 'I should give up. I already have a wife and children. I can't provoke someone so terrifying, someone who could bring destruction to my sect.'

He aimlessly walked down the long road and turned to his left, his mind still drifting back to that beautiful memory from years ago. He had fallen for her blindly at first sight, pursuing her relentlessly for ten years but never managing to catch even a glimpse of her shadow. After all these years, his greatest wish was to see her face once more, it had become his obsession.

Unfortunately, he was destined to never fulfill his wish. Ling Yuefeng sighed deeply as he raised his head, only to be surprised by his surroundings. Unconsciously, he had walked all the way to the residence of the Frozen Cloud Immortal Palace.

...

At the same time, Yun Wuji brought Xiao Che and Xiao Lingxi to the Xiao Clan.

"Master, why did you bring us here? Did you bring us to see Father?" Xiao Lingxi asked curiously, holding onto the hem of Yun Wuji's shirt.

Xiao Che was also curious, and he looked at him, waiting for an answer.

"You will know very soon," Yun Wuji didn't explain further as he took them to Xiao Lie's courtyard.

Xiao Lie was the strongest expert in Floating Cloud City, second only to Yun Wuji. After helping Yun Wuji build his palace, he rewarded Xiao Lie with some pills, which helped him break through to the Earth Profound Realm.

Xiao Lie was originally ostracized in the clan, despite being the strongest among them. He often felt angry and disappointed by the behavior of his fellow clan members. However, because he still loved his clan, he never considered leaving or retaliating. After Yun Wuji arrived, Xiao Lie's status within the clan rose sharply.

Because Xiao Lie had spent most of his wealth trying to heal Xiao Che, his courtyard was quite small and ordinary. However, now that his status had changed, the clan did their best to renovate his courtyard.

"Father/Grandpa! We're here!" Xiao Che and Xiao Lingxi shouted as they rushed into the courtyard.

Upon entering, they spotted Xiao Lie drinking tea and playing chess with another old man.

"Haha, you're here!" Xiao Lie turned around and laughed amiably upon seeing them both.

When the duo entered, Yun Canghai's movements halted, his eyes fixated on Xiao Che. He opened his trembling mouth, wanting to say something, but the words wouldn't come. Turbulent emotions surged within him, his eyes becoming slightly red. This was his grandson! His flesh and blood!

At the same time, Xiao Che sensed the strange old man's intense gaze on him, feeling confused. Why was this guy looking at him so intently and breathing so heavily? It couldn't be that he had some strange hobby, could it?

Suddenly, he felt a chill run down his back, and he subconsciously contracted his butt. He slightly hid behind his master, seeking a sense of security, and asked, "Grandpa, who is this?"

"Come, come! This man came specifically for you," Xiao Lie said, unaware of his grandson's strange behavior as he waved for him to come closer.

Xiao Che hesitated, feeling that his dignity was at stake. He glanced at Yun Wuji for help, and the latter smiled at him, saying, "Go on, your grandfather has something important to tell you."

"...!!!" Xiao Che looked at his master in shock he felt that he was abandoned.

"I'll come back later to take you to see the secret realm," Yun Wuji said before teleporting away. As an outsider, it wasn't appropriate for him to stay.

"Little Che, I'm going to tell you about a secret I've kept for more than ten years. Lingxi, you should listen closely too," Xiao Lie said solemnly before he began recounting the events of the past.

...

Ling Yuefeng stood a few meters away from the residence, lingering in place for a moment. He smiled bitterly and mumbled in a low voice, "Ever since the first time we met in the Ranking Tournament, I've gone to Frozen Cloud Asgard twenty times over the past ten years, but I've never been able to see you even once, until this year's Ranking Tournament."

He took a deep breath and raised his head, feeling a tightening in his chest. In his life, he had glory and strength; he had everything anyone could dream of. But the only thing he truly wanted, his love, remained unattainable.

Ling Yuefeng sighed and continued to whisper, "Everyone knew how I felt about you. I endured being the laughingstock and my parents' anger just to visit Frozen Cloud Asgard, hoping to see you again. After all these years, my memories of you remain the same. My greatest wish now is simply to see you once more, to glimpse how you've changed."

"Unfortunately, even that is impossible for me right now..." Ling Yuefeng shook his head, laughing self-deprecatingly before walking away.

Ling Yuefeng was passionate, but it wasn't easy for him to become infatuated. Before meeting Chu Yuechan, he devoted himself to swordsmanship. However, when he met her, buried emotions erupted. Thirty years have passed since that moment, yet Chu Yuechan's image has never faded in his heart.

In short, he was a natural-born simp.

Not far away, hiding in a dark corner, Xuanyuan Yufeng trembled, her face twisted in an ugly expression.

Ling Yuefeng was so distracted that he didn't notice someone was tailing him.

Originally, Xuanyuan Yufeng felt sorry for her husband. When she learned he had finally stopped hiding, she wanted to comfort and support him. However, as she approached to speak with him, he was already near the Frozen Cloud residence. After hearing everything Ling Yuefeng had said, her anger exploded.

"Ling Yuefeng! You really are a passionate man. It has already been thirty years! thirty damn years! and yet you're still unable to forget that woman!" Xuanyuan Yufeng uttered each word with deep hate and rage, her large, plump chest bouncing up and down in response.

"I, Xuanyuan Yufeng, have shortchanged myself, brought shame to my family, and married into this tiny Heavenly Sword Villa for over twenty years! And yet, I still don't compare to a woman who embarrassed you before the world and refuses to even meet you. Ling Yuefeng as a simp, you've truly outdone yourself!"

"I sacrificed my future and life for you, yet you didn't even care about me! Damn it... damn it!" She clenched her fists, veins bulging on her arms, her fingers cracking as she felt humiliated.

She was the only daughter of an elder from the Mighty Heavenly Sword Region, an expert at the 7th level of the Profound Realm. She commanded the respect of most people in this continent and enjoyed all the treasures and the best conditions for cultivation. Yet, she gave up all of this for the man she loved, only to find that he didn't think much of her.

If it weren't for her status as the daughter of an elder, he probably wouldn't have even glanced at her, no matter what she did for him.

Anger, hate, and envy, all sorts of negative emotions began to gather in her mind, transforming her love for him into hatred.

After a while, she took a deep breath and cast a lingering gaze at his receding figure before turning to leave.

...

Yun Wuji returned to the Heavenly Sword Villa and strolled around. There was still some time before the secret realm opened, with four days remaining.

He walked to a small pond surrounded by trees and a few beautiful white cranes. He stopped to take a look around and pondered which room he should sneak into tonight. Cang Yue or the Chu sisters? He had enjoyed researching cats with Cang Yue over the past few days, so should he instead visit the Chu sisters for a three-way fight?

Or better yet, should he have a royal battle between them all?

Hmm, it was so hard to decide...

"Hmm?" At that moment, he sensed someone approaching and turned around to look back.

A beautiful woman was heading his way. Upon seeing Yun Wuji, surprise flickered across her face and she hurriedly walked closer and bowed. "Greetings, Lord Yun Wuji."

"Hmm," Yun Wuji nodded in response to Xuanyuan Yufeng's greeting and was about to leave when he noticed her following him. He turned to ask, "Do you need anything?"
