I quickly waved my hand, "Sister Zhao, I promised not to tell Boss Li about this matter, so I won't be taking the money."

I was already feeling unsettled about the whole thing. If I took the money on top of that, wouldn't it just turn into a transaction?

To my surprise, Sister Zhao became anxious, her face full of pleading, "I'm begging you, just take the money, otherwise... I really won't feel right about this."

I quickly explained, "Sister Zhao, I really can't take the money. You and Boss Li have been so good to me and my husband, without you, we wouldn't even have a place to live right now."

"Okay, since you say so, I won't give you the money then. Next time I'll take you shopping and buy you some nice clothes," Sister Zhao said with a smile.

Sister Zhao and I talked for a long time, about our families, about our children.
